Chapter 9

ผู้เขียน: Eleven
Lilyanne shuddered in fear and ended the call as quickly as she could.

As Derek stared at her with a grim look on his face, he instructed a mercenary behind him to bring Jimmy over.

Soon enough, the unsuspecting Jimmy was brought to him. He entered with a smile, only for the mercenary to kick him in the knee just as he was about to greet Derek.

Only after he fell to his knees did he notice Lilyanne was in the same position next to him. One side of her cheek was swollen and red.

Derek's fists clenched so tightly that the veins on the back of his hands bulged. His furious gaze bore into them.

He questioned Lilyanne.

"The woman who saved my life," he said, voice low and sharp. "Tell me how you saved me."

Lilyanne was clearly scared out of her wits. Even after much stuttering, all she could say was that Derek had fallen unconscious after getting shot. Other than that, she made no mention of any other details.

Jimmy then crawled before Derek. He explained, "Boss, it was indeed

"Who told you to lock her in the basement?" Derek sprang to his feet, delivering a brutal kick to Jimmy's head. The force was lethal—Jimmy died on the spot.Without hesitation, he ordered his men to prepare the cars for his immediate return to the estate. Just as he turned, he heard Lilyanne's feigned groans behind him.Without a glance back, he commanded, "Chop Jimmy up and feed him to the dogs. As for Lilyanne, strip her and send her to the red-light district. Once she has serviced 99 men, send the photographs to her husband. He'll know what to do."It was midnight by the time Derek got back to the estate. The fire in the basement had been put out, but the mercenaries reported that my body was nowhere to be found. Letting out a small sigh of relief, Derek dialed my number over and over. Yet, he did not get an answer. Just as he was about to make his 100th call attempt, his phone vibrated. He received a video recording of me being pushed into a fire pit. "Saving us some troub

The truth struck me like a thunderclap, leaving me utterly stupefied. No wonder Lilyanne Accetta had been dressed more like a bride than I was on my wedding day. She even looked at me with such a mysterious grin on her face. Two weeks before the wedding ceremony, Lilyanne claimed she was heartbroken over a recent breakup and invited me out for drinks. This was her first time being nice toward me, so I agreed to head out with her without any hesitation. Thereafter, I went through a hellish 24 hours. One drink was all it took. When I woke, I was sprawled undressed on the floor of the bar, hands groping me from every direction. The more I struggled, the more agonizing it was. A cacophony of lewd laughter and pounding music assaulted my senses, while strobe-like flashes blinded me. Lilyanne had known. She had orchestrated it all. It was no wonder that this spoiled brat, who'd always taken what was mine, would readily approve of my union with Russo Morse. Even more baffling wa

Footsteps neared the door. I spun around and bolted down the stairs. Once I got into the kitchen, I yanked open the freezer and grabbed the largest tub of ice cream I could find. Sinking onto the barstool, I dug in. Scoop after scoop, the icy sweetness coated my tongue, numbing my senses, freezing my thoughts. My stomach twisted in protest, but I kept eating, shoveling it in like I could bury everything I'd just overheard. Ice cream used to be my favorite food. But for months, I'd denied myself, following every strict regimen to prepare my body for pregnancy. Convinced that my body was failing me, I endured a barrage of medications and daily injections, all in the desperate hope of conceiving. Little did I know, Derek had been secretly dosing me with hormonal pills, disguised as vitamins. I couldn't hold my tears back any longer. My tears spilled over, an unstoppable flood, and the salty mix with the ice cream triggered a wave of nausea. Putting my hands over my mouth, I re

I was probably the first person who ever dared to point a gun at the Capo. The Soldato stationed around the villa tensed at the sight, their hands tightening around their weapons. One wrong move, and I'd be dead before I even had the chance to pull the trigger. Even the Consigliere, usually composed, exclaimed, "Mrs. Church!"But Derek didn't move. He didn't even flinch. He continued looking at me tenderly. It was no wonder that he was the Capo of the mafia. "Why, you shameless woman—"Jimmy, hovering at the edge, made a move to intervene. The sound of his voice alone was enough to fill me with revulsion. Those words he uttered—"She still has no idea I was the one who personally selected the men who had their way with her that night at the bar"—replayed in my head over and over like a curse. I pointed the gun at Jimmy instead, then pulled the trigger without a moment of hesitation before anyone else could react. Unfortunately, I had never practiced shooting before. The b

I once dreamed of having a baby. For two years, I carried that dream like a fragile flame, only to watch it snuffed out again and again—five miscarriages and each one left me more broken than the last. The doctor told me my chances of conceiving again were slim. In order to have a child with Derek, I opted for IVF, which put me through all kinds of suffering. In the end, just because Lilyanne said that she was afraid of pain and feared becoming ugly, I lost the right to become a mother. Instead, I was reduced to be nothing more than a surrogate mother for them. My face was as white as a sheet.Derek must have noticed my pale complexion. Perhaps worried that something would happen to the baby if I were physically unwell, he left to call the family physician after bringing me back to the bedroom. Derek's phone was just by his pillow. I never knew his password since I had never once tried to check it before. But tonight, something inside me shifted. I picked up the phone and

"You are Derek's wife, yet you want him dead?" Dennis chuckled, a deep amused sound. "I can't wait to get to know you." His voice was smooth, almost boyish, but I knew better. A man who clawed his way to the top of the mafia in a year wasn't young and reckless. He was sharp, calculated, and ruthless. "Sure, let's do it. What's your plan?" "Kidnap me in five days," I answered while caressing my belly. "Don't worry. You can use the baby to threaten Derek. He'll do whatever you want."Right after the call ended, the bedroom door opened. Derek stepped in, informing me he had arranged a doctor's checkup schedule for tomorrow. He said the baby I was carrying was the most important thing to him. After completing his update, he pulled me close, wrapping his arms around me. I suppressed the wave of revulsion, feigning comfort until his breathing deepened into sleep. Then, with a slow deliberate movement, I slipped from his embrace. I lay beside him, my gaze fixed on his sleeping form

Lilyanne's grin widened at the sight of Jimmy trampling me under his boot. She pulled out her phone and snapped a photo. She studied the image with a satisfied hum. "Nicole, you look so much better like this. You look best when you're stomped on. "This photo looks great. In fact, it's as good as your nudes from the bar—you know, the ones scattered across your wedding day."Be honest with me. Even though I drugged you that time, you enjoyed it, didn't you? You should be thanking me. Someone with your looks would never have had the chance to entertain over ten men in one night."After saying that, Lilyanne leaned into Jimmy's arms, his hands squeezing her bottoms. They both admired the photo as if it were a piece of fine art. The flash of the camera, a stark reminder of that horrific night at the bar, sent a tremor of fear through me. Yet, the fury that surged within me, a resilient force, gave me the strength to fight back despite the agony. As Jimmy and Lilyanne engaged in the

A flicker of panic flashed across Lilyanne's face when Derek appeared, but she quickly composed herself, leaning weakly into his arms, trembling as if in fear. "Don't blame Nicky, Derry. She might just be in a bad mood. That's probably why she lashed out at me, just like she used to at home. I only wanted to share the news of my pregnancy with her and get her blessing. Maybe she still resents me for taking her husband away."But she was the one who indulged in debauchery in the first place. No matter how much she hates me, my child is innocent." Disheveled and pale, I slumped against the wall, dust and gravel clinging to my skin. A shoe print marked my face, and cuts littered my face. No one who saw me would believe I was the aggressor. But Derek didn't even glance at me. His eyes were locked on Lilyanne.Lilyanne avoided Derek's gaze shyly and hesitated to speak. However, what she was trying to say was obvious. Meanwhile, Derek carefully laid Lilyanne on the plush bed in one of his private villas while waiting for the private physician to arrive. Although she insisted she was merely shaken, Derek remained deeply concerned. His phone buzzed. Before he could reach for it, Lilyanne swiftly snatched it away. She pouted playfully. "Derry, I feel a little thirsty. Could you make me a cup of chamomile tea please?" Derek stared at his phone, a little distracted. "It might be a message from Nicole. Let me have a look." With a wistful sigh, Lilyanne handed the phone back, her collar slipping just enough to reveal the ugly bullet scar on her chest."Just as I thought, Nicole is the only person you care about. It's alright, Derry. I just want you to be happy. I don't mind even if Nicole stones me or calls our baby a bastard child." With me gone, Derek had only felt mildly uneasy these past two days. But at the sight of Lilyanne's scar, his heart softened. "Forget it. I'll make your tea for yo
