Silence Door

"Go away, Bridgette. Edward. We need Edward, go with him."

I don't know if my hearing was failing or if Axe's voice sounded very soft. Did something happen to him while he was protecting me? But what? I didn't hear or feel anything, except for his cries. Axe just pulled me up and we fell together. That's all. Then what made him sound weak like that? Don't tell me my decision to leave him created a new problem. No! I don't want anything unexpected to happen. That was enough yesterday, not today!

"Axe!"

My head started to harbor excessive anxiety. I quickly searched Axe's body, hoping his cell phone was in his coat or pants pocket.

I sigh in resignation that I didn't get anything, we both left our cell phones in the car. What was I supposed to do now? Listening to Axe's words and leaving him alone in the woods like this under circumstances I don't know why.

"Axe?" I called once again. I wanted to know his response, at least let me hear Axe's voice again. Then I could leave him to catch
