NARAH'S POV

The living room was profoundly silent. Eyes darted from face to face, accompanied by crooked, uneasy smiles that suggested everyone was uncomfortable and wished they could leave.

Hanadin wrapped me in a warm and comforting hug. I wasn’t sure what gave me the courage to confront Luna Tauriel, though Gina's attack on Hanadin might have contributed. Deep down, I felt it was more than that.

I felt like a changed person, similar to how I used to feel when I had Minisi—powerful. I felt a sense of strength and her presence within me. Perhaps she’s still with me.

Kacy moved closer to James and removed something from his radiant, tangled brown hair. I was more interested in what they were discussing. I found it hard to look away from them even though Hanadin kept talking to me about what happened with Gina and me.

Then, Beta Henry signalled Hanadin by waving his hand in the air and whistling at him like a dog. I thought it was a bit rude, especially because the look on Hanadin's fac

NARAH'S POV The night crawled in quickly and quietly. Hanadin threw his denim jacket over my shoulders to protect me from the cold as we continued our little gossip with Sharon. She talked about how she was secretly trying to earn a living as a bartender in order to clear her student loans. Liam was able to find out, and he offered to help her.A message came in through the Pack’s mindlink, warning about the rogues and also calling for some warriors. I listened. Hanadin confided in me, telling me they were going on a hunt tonight, and Alpha Van would be going too.The reason they had chased us from downstairs was because they needed to call in the warriors to discuss their strategy, and outsiders weren't allowed in on the conversation.Alpha Van would be going out for a hunt tonight, and I couldn't help but feel worried. My heart couldn't stop yearning for him. It was my least favourite new feeling, the emotions I experience when he's not near.“What is it you feel for the Alpha?” T

It looked normal, though ominous, but I couldn't detect any sign of a wolf, let alone a rogue.“We need to park here. You'll go by foot for the rest of the journey,” said the driver as he gently parked the car by the side of the road. The other vehicles behind us stopped as well, and ten of my Pack’s finest warriors, including Kacy, Axton and Rachael stepped down, their eyes glowing with the spirit of battle– a hope that we would win tonight. They gathered around me, waiting for my order, but my mind raced with anxiety. I was afraid we didn't have enough time to prepare for a better strategy.“Beta Henry was able to track the rogue's hideout. If we launch this surprise attack on them like we had planned, then we'll gain victory over our enemies tonight

They've caught on to us.”The rogue wolf began to transform, its body twisted and contorted until it stood on two legs, its lips curling into a satisfying smirk.“You ought not to have come here, Van. You're so predictable.” Together with my pack warriors, we shifted into our human form. My skin crawled with dread as I recognised the voice who spoke, and the moonlight revealed the face, confirming my suspicions“Anakiyus, you snake,” I bared my teeth as buried memories resurfaced, peeling through my mind like the reopening of an old wound. I almost charged forward but restricted myself. With a glint in his eyes, he laughed. “You should have gotten rid of me when you had the chance, man.” “What do you want?” I asked, still restraining Curtis

ALPHA VAN'S POV The moment Curtis forced his way to the surface, a flood of raw emotion surged through me, and the roar of the battle around us faded as our focus narrowed solely on Anakiyus. The sight of his wolf, once our comrade, but now a monstrous embodiment of betrayal, fueled Curtis’s relentless rage.“I make you have painless death,” Curtis offered through a mindlink to his opponent.Anakiyus's wolf stood firmly once again, oozing with confidence, its gaze watching Curtis's every step calculatively. The old wound of our shattered friendship throbbed painfully, mingling with the primal rage Curtis unleashed. As fangs bared and the earth trembled beneath us, my mind raced with the weight of past failures and unheeded warnings.Anakiyus's wolf dashed towards Curtis, launching a surprise assault by slithering under him and scratching into his stomach. The cut would have been fatal if Curtis hadn't jumped the instant he felt Anakiyus's wolf's claws against his skin."Let's go!"

NARAH'S POVBeta Solomon stood at the entrance, his bald head radiating in the sunlight that streamed through the door. His sharp brown eyes scanned the room with an unsettling intensity. His eyes peered through mine.Alpha Van and I sprang apart, our gazes darting around awkwardly. I didn't know what to say, everything seemed to happen too fast.Beta Solomon cleared his throat, breaking the silence. “I apologise for the intrusion, Alpha. I merely came to check if you were awake.”Alpha Van, forcing a smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes, replied, “It’s fine. You can come in. I’m awake now.”Beta Solomon’s gaze landed on me, and a wry expression crossed his face. I cleaned the sweat trickling down my forehead, unsure of how to respond. I offered a hesitant smile, which quickly faded as his features hardened into a stony mask. The man wasn't particularly fond of anyone, least of all me.“Important matters need to be discussed,” he said coldly, his eyes silently urging me to leave.I

But that was okay. I just hoped that someday I'd be able to.As I walked down the hallway, I noticed Gina emerging from her room. What was she trying to keep secret? She offered a nervous smile, turning slightly as I passed, maintaining eye contact while her hand remained behind her back, hiding the paper bag.I greeted her and continued to pass by, then she called out my name.“Narah,” her voice dripping with an unsettling sweetness. I really wasn't expecting anything less. I rolled my eyes and turned, giving her a fake grin.“What do you want?” I asked tiredly, instead she smiled even more.“How's my husband doing?” Husband? NARAH'S POV As we walked towards the shopping district, Vanessa briefed me on the specifics of what she needed to purchase for the upcoming event.I listened intently, making mental notes as she and James discussed everything from decorations to catering.Despite the busy nature of our task, Vanessa’s cheerful attitude was somewhat uplifting. She chatted about her experiences with high-profile events, offering me brief glimpses of a world far removed from her own current struggles. My mind wandered as we shopped. I couldn’t shake the image of Luna Tauriel’s troubled face if we dared get what she hated.Hours later, with our shopping complete, Vanessa thanked me for my help and wished me well. Unlike the building, which was filled with artificial scents, the garden was permeated with the natural fragrance of sweet flowers and freshly cut grass. It was decorated with stunning yellow lanterns that illuminated the path from the steep stairs and around every corner.Luna Tauriel and Gina were sitting together, enjoying drinks and laughter, while Alpha Van was accompanied by Beta Henry. As soon as I entered the scene, Alpha Van's gaze met mine, and he gave a small smile, directing his full attention to me. GINA'S POVToday was the day I finally gave my love away. The thought of it alone sent a shiver down my spine, and I slammed my fist on the headrest of the bed, making the frame creak in protest.“I hate my life,” I groaned sluggishly, sitting up right.Last night was f**king hell, and today was… was there anything worse than hell? If there was, you could f**king bet I was living in it. I squeezed my face at the strong stench of booze that danced particularly around me. My mouth felt parched. My tongue was sticky, tasting the lingering flavour of last night's cigarettes and alcohol, a failed attempt to drown and set my sorrows ablaze. All that alcohol doused with wolfsbane and I still couldn't get drunk. The sun filtered through the curtains, and as my eyes drifted across my room, squinting, all I could think of was how miserable my present situation was. Rufus was lying next to me. I gently stroked his fur, and he opened his eyes before shutting them again.I lazily got up from bed

She was putting on a bra top, tights, and sneakers. Her red hair was tied up in a ponytail. She must have been working out with Alpha Van before I arrived.“You're not interrupting anything, Corolla,” I whispered, my breath catching in my throat. She took a step forward, her gaze never leaving mine. “I heard about your wedding. I'm sorry it went south.”I blinked, trying to steady my breath as I shook my head. “Thank you. I guess... NARAH’S POV“I'll be going back to the Killian's estate. Sharon invited us for the pre-wedding party,” I said.“What's a pre-wedding party?” Chris asked, scrunching his nose.“Apparently, it's a party the rich throw to celebrate their upcoming wedding. Instead of a bridal shower, they're just throwing one big party,” Liora answered.“She invited you too, Liora,” I said, turning back to look at her.“Nope. No more partying for me. I'm good,” she responded, shaking her head.I agreed with her. Maybe she felt that way because she had to hide her identity and mask her aura all day just to hang out with Bryan and the others. It must be a bit challenging and draining for her, I thought. But soon enough, when the truth comes to light, she wouldn't have to hide in the shadows any longer.Chris dropped me off at the bus stop and left. As I waited for the bus, the air biting my skin, I couldn't help but feel an unease within me. I was going to see Alpha Van and possibly tell him everything—the

Then, Dahlia appeared behind him, her head tilting slightly to see past his broad frame. Her eyes widened in surprise as she saw me."Reina?" Arthur's voice echoed softly. He looked as though he were unsure if this was a dream or a nightmare and if he had seen a ghost.“Oh! Narah!” Dahlia exclaimed, her tone so full of warmth and recognition that it almost hurt. Before I could process her words, she stepped forward and wrapped her arms around me in a tight hug. My body went stiff at first, the sudden physical contact catching me off guard.I swallowed hard, my throat dry as I fought the wave of emotions that threatened to crash over me. She pulled back from the hug and turned briefly to Arthur. “It's Narah. She was the one I told you I met at the bridal shop who looks exactly like Reina.”Arthur

NARAH’S POV“What?” Zander asked, surprised.“Are you Mr. Mysterious?” I repeated, assuming he didn't hear me the first time.“No, I'm not,” he blurted out, disbelief thick in his voice. “How could you think that?”“Why wouldn't I? It seems to me that you pretended you'd never heard of the Moon Jade before you met me. You cast a fake mate bond on me, and for what?”Zander fell silent. His eyes darted away, his jaw tightening. Then, he moved closer to me, his demeanour shifting. There was an air of regret in his gaze, something I hadn’t noticed before, but it didn’t soften the storm brewing inside me.“I’m sorry I did that, Narah,” he said softly, his voice calmer now. “I didn’t mean to deceive you like that.”I stared at him, every word a new weight on my shoulders. My chest tightened as the truth hit me with full force. He wasn't denying it. I had been so foolish to believe his excuses before. So many signs, so many warning bells ringing, but I had ignored them all. He had played me

NARAH’S POVThe water ran hot, steam curling around me as I stood under the shower, letting the heat flow into my skin, washing away the remnants of the night before.Just as I tried to relax, I heard Liora’s voice scream, “Are you still going to wear that beautiful wedding dress?”I couldn't hear her properly, so I turned off the shower. “WHAT?”“The wedding dress!” she shouted. “Are you still going to put it on? Ellie is calling.”How did I forget about that? “Sure, I will. For dramatic effect,” I screamed back.“That's my girl,” Liora said, and a smile tugged at the edges of my lips.I turned on the shower again and let it all flow—my anger, my confusion, the stench or alcohol, the memories of Hendrix, Ophelia and Jenna, and the mounting pressure of everything I had just uncovered. It was all too much, yet not enough. The truth was a cruel thing, especially when you couldn’t unlearn it.But as the water ran cold, something else was there. A hollow emptiness in the space where my w

ALPHA VAN’S POV “I... I came because I—" She hesitated, clearly trying to find the right words again. Then Liam cut her short. “I invited her for my wedding tomorrow. I want her to be a part of it.” Mother nodded several times. “He's right...and I want to make it right to you, Liam, and Kacy. Especially you, Van.” The bitterness surged in me again. Make it right? Was this some pathetic excuse to ease her guilt after all these years? It was too late for that. I blamed Liam for inviting her without letting me know first. He definitely wouldn't have informed me because he knew how much I hated her, to the extent that I had prohibited anyone from talking about her. “As you can see, we're all doing just fine without you,” I said through clenched teeth. “You think a couple of tears and a half-assed apology is gonna make up for abandoning me? For abandoning us?” Liam, still oblivious to the tension in the room, stepped forward with his usual excitement. “Van, it’s Mom! You—” “No!” I

She insisted she didn’t help Anakiyus escape.”Not that I entirely believed Gina, but she seemed sincere. “Liars be sincere until they're caught,” Curtis chimed in, his voice a low growl at the back of my mind. “All evidence proves guilty. Guards wouldn't lie.”I dismissed his voice in my head. Briefly, I glanced at Jeremiah, feeling the familiar tension between us, but he only gave me a deadpan expression. "Besides, she's not allowed to leave the estate. So, her roaming is limited," I added, trying to push the conversation to lighter ground.Jeremiah chuckled, but it was a hollow sound. A short, fanciful laugh that made my skin crawl. “The Luna is under house arrest,” he said with an exaggerated sigh. “How will the Alpha live!”I shot him a dry look. “W
