Jane stepped out of the car, her mind still reeling with Teddy’s phone call. She already knew that her flight would be canceled, and all the plans she had prepared for their anniversary for more than a month are now in ruins, because Teddy would be with Ava throughout today.
Anytime Ava’s sickness flared up, Teddy was always with her throughout that day. He won’t even think about his so called busy schedule he always comes up with anytime Jane demands for his attention. On reaching Ava’s ward, she saw she was lying down on the sickbed, and had an oxygen hood over her head as usual. Teddy was sitting in front of her, holding one of her hands in his. Seeing this scene, Jane felt a pang of pain in her heart. Seeing Jane coming into the ward, Teddy stood up as he questioned her. “What are you doing here? Are you not supposed to be donating your blood right now?” Since she had signed that contract that bound her and Teddy, this place had become a regular place of visit for her. She is always here to donate her blood to Ava, who had been sick since a year ago. “I just wanted to check up on Ava before going to donate my blood, that’s why I’m here.” She said gently. “You are of no use here, just go and donate your blood already.” Teddy said angrily. “What about our anniversary plan, Teddy?” Jane blurted out unknowingly.” Teddy's expression darkened. "What's there to discuss about our anniversary? You know Ava's condition is unpredictable." Jane's eyes dropped, her voice barely above a whisper. "I had planned something special." Teddy's tone softened slightly, but his words remained firm. "I'm sorry, Jane. Ava needs you now." Jane nodded, pain flashing across her face. "I'll go donate." As she turned to leave, Teddy's voice stopped her. "Jane?" "Yes?" "Forget the anniversary. It's just another day." Jane's heart sank, but she didn't look back. An hour later, Jane was exhausted after giving out blood. This is her second time donating her blood this month. She looked so pale that a small push could get her on her knees. She used the railing to stabilize herself. “Look who we have here”. Jane heard a familiar voice speaking to her. Raising her head, she was shocked by the person she saw. “Ava, aren’t you supposed to be in the ward receiving treatment? What are you doing here?” Even though she knew this woman is the reason her husband has been cold to her since their marriage, that doesn’t mean she would be so heartless to wish for her death. But seeing the person she saw just now who was hooked up to all types of hospital equipment, sashaying her body towards her, looking healthy, some possibilities came into her mind, but she denied it as she shook her head. “As you can see, I’ve already recovered from my illness a month ago. I’m just making you pay for taking Teddy away from me. If not because of you, Teddy would have gotten married to me. My advice for you now is to divorce Teddy immediately. He doesn’t even like you anyway, so why stay in this loveless marriage for nothing?” “And who do you think you are to tell me to divorce him?” Jane also fired back. “Even if you can’t tell, you should know I’m the one Teddy loves, did you think he will be with a lowlife woman with no family background like you if not because he was trying to save me? If not for that stinky blood of yours, you are not useful for anything my dear”. She said to Jane as she patted her cheeks with a smirk on her face. “Well, you are right, Teddy doesn’t love me for now, sooner or later I will make him fall for me. And how did you know he loves you?” “Ahh!” Ava laughed at her words. It’s like she just heard a big joke. If he doesn’t love me, do you think he will go to the length of getting married to you, in order to save me at all cost. All those nights you sleep alone in your cold bed, did you know who he was with?” Jane knew the answer but she didn't want to accept that fact. “Just shut up already” Jealousy consumed her as she rushed towards Ava who was not far from her. Since she was a little weak, she pushed Ava with little strength. Ava took some steps back as she held the railing on the hospital walkway to maintain her balance. Something struck into her mind as she saw a familiar figure from the corner of her eye. The railing she held earlier was like a hot potato as she removed her hand which made her fall down the stairs with a scream. “Ava!!! Someone screamed her name as she fell down”.As Teddy came out of the doctor’s office, he was shocked to see Ava falling off the stairs. He didn’t even think twice before screaming her name and rushing towards her like the wind. He pushed Jane out of the way, making her land on her butt due to how weak she is. Who would have thought this unfeeling man had this side to someone who isn’t his wife. Ava has already calculated everything, since she wanted to get Teddy back as soon as possible, there is nothing she couldn’t do, even if it’s to sustain some superficial wounds. As Teddy rushed down the stairs to check on Ava’s condition, he saw that her forehead was bleeding profusely. He was so angry that his body was about to convulse. He rushed down the stairs as he wanted to pick her up, but without knowing the extent of her injuries, he didn’t dare to move recklessly. “What are you sitting there for? Call the doctor.” He shouted at Jane, who was struggling to stand on her feet. She shivered uncontrollably at his hoarse voice.
Teddy, who was carrying a lunch box he just got from the hospital restaurant, walked in. Who knew he would be meeting this heartless woman here. “Bully her you said,” Jane chuckled. “I just came to tell her to clear my name. Which eyes of yours sees that I’m bullying her. And by the way she is trying to frame me. I will make sure to get evidence to prove my innocence.” “Who would be so stupid to suffer such a big fall just to frame someone like you up?” Teddy mocked as he glared at her. “Get lost immediately or I will make you regret it.” Teddy angrily shouted at her. “No need to chase me out, I will leave.” She left the ward with a straight back not looking weak at all. ** Back to the present, Standing up from the cold floor, Jane picked up the pen that was sitting on the table beside her. Looking at Teddy’s signature on the paper, which doesn’t look like he was reluctant to sign the papers at all, she felt a sharp pain in her chest, as she signed the divorce agreement with tea
At the last minute, the man caught one of her hands as her legs dangled in the air. Using all his strength, he tried lifting her up. “Why are you saving me? Just let me go!” She shouted at the man that just saved her. “Just shut up and stop struggling.” He said as he used all his strength to pull her falling body off the bridge. After making sure she wouldn’t try anything stupid after her feet touches the ground, he breathed a sigh of relief as he glared at her as if saying why is she so stupid to think committing suicide would solve all her problems. Too weak to say anything, Jane collapsed due to exhaustion. “Hey,” the man protected her body from falling on the cold bridge floor. “Open your eyes and talk to me.” Not receiving any response, he carried her in a bridal style as he walked hurriedly to his car that was parked on the other side of the bridge. “Boss, what is wrong with her?” His driver, who had been watching his boss that wouldn’t care about anything even if the wo
“Jane Lockwood!” Lucy exclaimed, her voice trembling as she rushed over to the bed Jane was lying on. Touching her pale face which was cold to touch, she choked on her sob. “I knew you were still alive, but they didn't believe me.” Dylan's expression turned puzzled seeing his girlfriend's reaction. “You know her?” Lucy nodded, tears streaming down her face. “We were friends since childhood, she disappeared a year ago.” Leonard’s gaze never left Jane. “What happened to her?” He questioned. Lucy's voice cracked. “The last time we talked before she went missing, she was telling me about some arranged marriage she had since childhood. If I’m not mistaken, I think the reason she went missing was to escape the marriage. After getting this information from Lucy, Leonard's expression turned solemn. No one knows what he was thinking. After Lucy composed herself, Dylan continued examining Jane. “We need to get her to New York, she requires specialized care.” Dylan warned. “I will make arr
Lucy snapped out of her thought hearing that. “You can test me, I might be a match.” She sounds impatient, stretching her hand forward. Dylan's grip on Lucy tightened. "Are you sure, Lucy?" Leonard's expression turned solemn. "We'll do everything to help Jane recover." Dr. Sophia nodded. "Let's run the tests." The medical team quickly took Lucy's blood samples. Hours passed, and Dr. Sophia returned with a hopeful smile. "Lucy, you're a perfect match. Your blood is compatible with Jane's." Lucy's face crumpled again, this time with relief. As the medical team prepared Lucy for donation, Leonard's thoughts lingered on Jane's arranged marriage partner. Who was he, and why did she want to escape? he wondered. Dr. Sophia's voice interrupted his thoughts. "We'll begin surgery immediately after the blood transfusion." Leonard nodded, his gaze never leaving the Icu. Hours passed as they all waited for the end of the surgery, praying for it to be a success.. Finally, Dr. Sophia ca
Leonard sprang to his feet, rushing out of his office. I will be there soon. He hung up immediately not waiting for Lucy’s reply. Thirty minutes later, he was standing in front of the ICU room. He does not know what’s the matter with him. He was not an impulsive person, but since he met her, it’s like he had turned into a different person. The opposite gender was not his cup of tea. However, that day he had seen her at that bridge, he felt a spark of attraction towards her. “Hey, Mr. Bank, you are here.” Dr Sophia’s voice brought Leonard out of his reverie. He looked over his shoulder and saw her walking towards him in her white coat. “Why aren’t you going in? Miss Jane is already awake.” She questioned while stopping in front of him. Leonard blinked, snapping back to reality. “Oh sorry, Dr Sophia, I was lost in my thoughts. I will go and see her immediately.” Dr Sophia’s eyes sparkled with curiosity. “I presume it’s about Jane?” Leonard’s cheeks warmed slightly, but he nodded,
After the call with his assistant, Leonard didn’t bother saying goodbye to Jane and Lucy before he left the hospital. He took a long stride towards his car in the parking lot. He couldn’t explain the turmoil brewing inside him. His driver, James, had already opened the car door as he saw him approaching. “Where to sir?” James asked Leonard after he slid into the backseat. “To the office.” Leonard replied curtly. As the car pulled out of the hospital parking lot, Leonard's phone buzzed. “Leonard, where are you?” Lucy called after noticing that Leonard had left the hospital. Leonard hesitated, unsure of how to respond. Would he tell her that he left just because he was angry hearing Jane say she loved someone other than him? That sounds crazy. “Something came up at the office. I had to rush back.” He finally said. “Is everything okay?” Lucy asked with concern. Leonard's gaze drifted out of the window. “Everything is fine. Just a document that needed my signature urgently.” “Ok
Hi, Jane,” Dr. Sophia greeted with a warm smile. “How are you feeling today?” “Better, thanks to you.” Jane replied with a forced smile. Dr. Sophia nodded. “You are welcome Jane. I’m glad you are recovering well.” After another series of checkups, Dr. Sophia gave Jane instructions of what she shouldn’t do for the meantime before she left. Jane and Lucy didn’t continue their earlier discussion. They just sat quietly in the ward, both with their thoughts. Few minutes passed, before Lucy's phone rang, breaking the silence. The caller ID indicated it was Dylan calling. She excused herself as she went to receive the call. Jane was deep in thought, her mind drifting to that night on that bridge, where the kind Leonard saved her from committing suicide. Her lips couldn’t help curling up remembering her arguments with him on the bridge that night. “How stupid Jane.” She whispered to herself. Her gaze drifted to the hospital window, watching the city bustle below. Her thoughts were inter
In a very remote restaurant out of town, Ivy was seated in a corner, waiting for the arrival of someone.“Why isn’t she here yet? Didn’t she receive my call?” Ivy mumbled to herself as she tapped on a number on her phone screen in frustration. She had been waiting here for almost an hour, still yet, she hadn’t met the so-called partner who would help her make Jane cease to exist. The phone of the person she was calling was ringing, but she wasn’t picking up. When she was about to stand up and leave the restaurant in anger, she saw a woman, who was putting on the latest flair gown that was just introduced to the fashion market last week, making her look out of place. This restaurant was just a normal restaurant where the average people would visit. Someone like her didn’t fit in here. But for the bigger plan, she had no choice than to be here. Ivy had chosen this restaurant because she doesn’t want to be traced and associated with whoever she wanted to meet, in case there is any proble
“Welcome to Ristorante Amore.” A waitress greeted Jane and Leonard the moment they stepped into the restaurant. “Thank you.” Jane gave the waitress a small smile before she leads them to the table that has already been reserved for them.As they settle down, another waitress came to take their order. After a few minutes, Jane and Leonard was left alone to enjoy the view of the restaurant.“Wow, this restaurant really represents its name. Look at how beautiful the interior was decorated. All are screaming about love.” Jane compliments as she looks around the restaurant still seated.Leonard didn’t bother to look around. His eyes were on Jane throughout. He was happy that she was satisfied with his choice of restaurant.I need to give Rachel a raise after I go back. Leonard thought. It was his assistant that had help in booking the restaurant for lunch.“Babe, don’t you think this place is worthy of its name?” Jane eyes were bright as they finally landed on Leonard, whose eyes were smi
Two days later.“Jane, I’m glad you are okay. What happened two days ago? Why did you go missing?” Lily rushes towards Jane as she walks into the finance department. She was so worried about Jane throughout the weekend. Although James had inform her that Jane was fined her mind wasn’t at rest until she saw herJane had a small smile on her face seeing how Lily was concerned about her. “I’m fine. Nothing happened. I met a friend of mine, that's it. We were just having fun.Jane didn’t want to tell Lily about the details of her kidnapping. She doesn’t want to make the little girl worry.Lily immediately understands that Jane doesn’t want to talk about the kidnapping issue, so she doesn't ask anymore.“Today’s meeting had been canceled. I don’t know the details yet. And some files had been submitted on your table. You have to clear them before the end of today.” Lily informed Jane.“That’s unusual.” Jane was surprise. This is the first time the weekly meeting that’s carried out on Monday
“Lucy, you are awake?” Jane voice filled the hospital room when she saw Lucy open her eyes. She had been watching over her throughout the night. Lucy squinted her eyes due to the bright sunlight that seeped into the hospital room through the window. After getting use to the brightness, she finally open her eyes. What greeted her were Jane’s concerned filled eyes, looking at her like a mother who was worried about her sick child. “Jane?” Lucy was surprise to see Jane. All that happened yesterday and where she was at the moment hadn’t registered in her brain yet. “Yes it’s me, Lucy.” Jane sat beside her on the bed, her thumb caressing her cheek. “How are you feeling now? Are you okay? Is there any place you are feeling pain?” Jane brush aside a loose strand of her hair that was blocking her view. “Where am I?” Lucy was confused with Jane’s questions. She finally look around her and finally notice the beeping noise coming from her left. That was when she finally remembered what ha
Aaron, who just finished dealing with the thugs, drops the rod he had used in beating them to the floor. He turned around and his cold gaze softened at the sight of Jane’s face. His eyes were filled with concern for her.“Cupcake, are you alright?” Aaron moves forward to check Jane’s body whether she was injured or not.“I’m fine. Why are you here?” Jane’s eyes were filled with suspicions. After her wedding with Leonard, this would be the first time she would be seeing Aaron. With her investigation from Leonard, she was told that Aaron had left the country the day they wedded. She was surprised to see him here.“Ouch, cupcake, is this your attitude to someone who just saved you. My heart has been broken by you.” Aaron held his chest like he was in pain, his eyes glancing towards Jane like he was seeking her pity. His act made Jane forget that he didn’t reply why he was here.“Stop your act already. You single-handedly beat more than twenty people in college back then. I won’t fall for
Jane sped away in her car. It was night, and the road was quite free. All her mind was full of worry for Lucy, who just called her. Lucy had never reached out to her in such a way before. And with the way the call ended, she knew Lucy was in danger. She immediately dialed a number on her phone. A minute later, the call was picked up.“I will send you a number right away. Help me track the location.” Jane immediately hung up not waiting for the other end's response. Lucy, please be safe. Nothing must go wrong with you. Jane prayed in her heart.Five minutes later, she received a message, indicating where Lucy’s last call was made from. Jane stepped on the accelerator of her car, making it shot forward, increasing its speed. She wishes she could have some supernatural powers that could make her appear in front of Lucy at the moment, and rescue her from whatever situation she was in.Just when Jane was a few minutes drive to Lucy’s last location, her phone rang. She wasn’t in the mood to
“Hmm,” Jane groaned in pain as she lifted her upper body up from the bed. Her waist felt like it was broken. Her whole body didn’t feel like it was hers. She hissed in pain as she held the bed headboard to stabilize herself.“Leonard, you are so cruel!” Jane cursed as her legs wobbled under her. She fell back on the bed the moment her legs made contact with the floor. Her gaze shifted to the bedside clock to see that it was half past five in the evening. Her eyes widened in shock after realizing she had slept throughout the day. Her face was tinted red as she remembered all that happened last night. Her voice was hoarse from Leonard’s hours of torture. It was all that beast-like man’s fault, who didn’t stop torturing her until she passed out. After Leonard carried her to their bedroom, he harshly dropped her on the bed, and took off the towel covering her wet body, which had already turned red from staying too long inside the cold bathtub. Without saying any word to her, he started t
Leonard mansion. The moment the black SUV drove into the mansion, Leonard didn’t say anything to Jane before he alighted from the car, without sparing her a glance.Jane knew Leonard was definitely angry at her. Their journey home had been filled with an awkward silence. She had tried to say something to him, but he ignored her. Jane kept quiet after that. She doesn’t want to say anything that would infuriate Leonard with the driver in the car.“Welcome, young mistress.” Butler Jenkins greeted Jane, who also alighted from the car five seconds after Leonard. The butler immediately knew that something was wrong with the couple, when he saw the panic written all over Jane’s face.Jane gave Butler Jenkins a small smile before marching forward to catch up with Leonard. However, her short legs couldn’t cover the distance Leonard's long legs had covered in time. Since Leonard took the stairs, she rushed toward the elevator and boarded it in time to meet with him on the third floor.James, J
Teddy groans in pain as Leonard continues hitting him. He wanted to push him away and retaliate, but Leonard didn’t give him the chance.Jane rushed out of the car immediately after she got back her strength. She circled the car and ran towards Leonard. Although she enjoyed how Leonard was teaching Teddy a lesson, she couldn’t stand and watch Leonard kill someone.“Leonard, that’s enough!” Jane yelled at the top of her voice, but it seems like Leonard didn’t hear her at all. He continued his assault on Teddy, whose face was already swollen, with blood trickling down the corner of his mouth. As Jane saw that Leonard wasn’t ready to listen to her, she stepped forward and held his fist which was raised in the air to punch Teddy. “Leonard, that’s okay. You can’t continue hitting him like that.” Jane shook her head at Leonard when she realised that she had his attention. Leonard shut his eyes, trying to control the anger that was still brewing inside of him.“Are you feeling sorry for him
