Angela heaved a long sigh as she rolled her eyes. Come on, Denise...I know this is hard but you can't continue like this babe..." Denise blinked her eyelids many times as possible to keep the tears away from dripping. She turned her back against Angela. But then, she burst into crying. Angela locked the door and hugged Denise from behind. " It's okay darling...I understand that Kathryn hurt you but this is not he best way to go about it"

Denise released herself from Angela's hug. " This is not just about Kathryn. Clark caused everything. He lied to me and made me believe that he was in love with me. Ann, I gave him my all and..."

" Oh! Please...the last thing I want to talk about right now is that fool" Angela rolled her eyes and smirked. Denise was still sobbing. She slumped into the couch behind her staring straight into her best friend's eyes. She had never wanted things to get so bad that her best friend would insult the love of her life. She knew better than anyone else that she wouldn't dare defend him right now.

Angela would spark off in fury.

" He lost you, babe. You did not lose him. I know how selfless you are, Denise. Don't feel bad. This happened for a good reason" Angela said.

Denise wished their was a better way to explain to her best friend that the situation had taken a new level- she was pregnant and the only one who must be responsible was the 'fool' she is talking about.

" Remember when we were in high school and Phillipe...that french boy with bulging eyes broke up with me, I just moved on and you motivated me to do so" Angela said.

" It's different. That was many years ago, Ann and we were teenagers. We're adults now and the feeling isn't the same. This is deeper than that" Denise pointed out.

" Well, you have a point there" Ann replied snapping her fingers obviously trying hard to prove to her best friend that Clark wasn't worth her precious tears.

" You know what? I think we should go out and eat some food or go the mall and do some shopping"

Denise sighed. " What about the cinema to watch some great movie? I can book the tickets right away" Angela went on and on. Her best friend wasn't settling with the plan.

She let out a long yawn and slumped into the couch beside Denise. " How did you get to work for C&V Enterprises?" Ann asked leaving Denise a bit confused. Why would she bring up such a thing out of the blue?

" You graduated college with one of the best results and landed yourself that job among a thousand graduates who have yearned to work at C&V. Denise, you are a great woman" she paused to hold her hands.

" You took care of that witch of a sister with your whole strength. I've always known she had wicked plans anyway" Ann rolled her eyes.

" There is no one as strong as you are. Atleast, none that I know. Denise, don't let this sorrow weigh you down. Get up and move on!"

" It's not easy as it sounds. I can't" Denise cried out. " You can. Yes! You can, babe...you can't allow them win. If you keep sulking, it will only make them feel great about themselves. If I were you, Kathryn and Clark will never see a tear in my eyes. I will wave it under the rug like it never happened"

Denise nodded her head.

" Of course...well, breaking news... I am not as emotionless as you are Ann" Denise snapped.

" Really?" Ann asked surprised at the tone Denise used on her.

" Yes! Yes Angela...I know you have no emotions. That was why you never experienced love. I loved Clark with my whole heart. I experienced love and that is why I am heartbroken! You can't understand because you have no emotions!"

Angela chuckled. " I know that you're going through a lot right now but I think you're crossing the line. I can't believe you're saying that to me because of that fool!"

" What? What would you do if I cross the line? Huh?" Denise snapped.

She took a quick look around the room and turned to Angela. " You want to send me out so I keep sulking because you have no love life?"

Angela sighed. " Look, Ann...if you can't help me out just let me be! Let me cry my heart out. I don't want your advice. I don't want you! I don't want..."

Angela embraced her as she burst into another new crying marathon.

Ann rubbed her back gently allowing her let out her tears and cry all she wanted.

" I'm sorry, Ann. It's just driving me crazy"

" Shhhh... it's fine. I know. You'll be fine" Angela responded.

" They hurt me. The pain is piercing my heart. I can't seem to get over it. Everything keeps popping in my brain. Ann, I just want to die..."

" Nope! You will do no such thing. I'm here...I will stay beside and we'll get through this together. Right?" Angela assured her best friend.

" It's so hard..."

" It will be easy soon... Just take your time, babe" Ann assured her.

It took a long while for Denise to get herself together and stop crying. She was careful enough not to hold her stomach as she didn't want Ann to be suspicious.

Her best friend had gone to prepare some food to ease her pain...in her words...Denise was still living in her nightmare until a thought propped her.

She grabbed her cellphone and searched about DNA tests. The first search captured her mind.

'...There are high chances that your child belongs to someone else and not whom you think it belongs to. Carry out a paternity test and stop guessing..."

What great hope! Denise's mood began to brighten up. Deep down, Clark was the only man she had laid with. But then, it could be that she got drunk and got intimate with another man...the club had been her home lately...

" This is it, Denise. You'll take the test and not rely on mere predictions. Right? " Her lips parted revealing a hopeful smile.

" What on earth are the two sworn enemies of her destiny doing at this hospital so late in the night?" Denise thought to herself. She could hear Kathryn complaining agitatively about something. Denise moved closer being extra careful not to be seen by them. Thankfully, there were a few cars parked before Clark's Mercedes-Benz. Denise tiptoed to the one right beside Clark's and squat to listen to Kathryn's words." I can't believe you failed to use the condoms. I bought three whole oacks for the night. Why were you careless?" Kathryn's voice echoed.Denise wondered why she was so loud. It was late in the night...has she forgotten? " Wait a sec, protection?" Denise whispered to herself. She had a clear picture of what that meant but she dismissed the thought at once. She must hear from the horse's mouth. She had had enough already." Babe, I'm sorry. You know how irresistible you are. I couldn't step back to get them. You put me in the mood already"" Shut the fuck up! You say that all

Immediately they went into the hospital, Denise pulled herself out of hiding. She watched as they clasped their hands together and headed into the hospital like newlyweds. Her phone rang to disrupt her array of thoughts. She quickly left to find a cab. Her phone kept blaring until she answered it. “Where are you? It’s late…”Denise sniffled her nose in a bid not to breakdown into tears. “Hey...Can you hear me?” Angela’s voice asked from other end of the call. You’re freaking hot, man”, Denise said with a drowsy voice that clearly says she’s wasted. The young man sitting in front of her was everything ‘hot’ entailed. Is it his bare and hairy chest that stood from his lilac unbuttoned collar shirt just the way Denise wanted? Or his arms that screams “Dwayne Johnson’ one of Denise’s favourite Hollywood actors? Denise was completely taken aback. This gentleman sitting in front of her had turned her on without even knowing it. She reached out for his chest and his eyes followed her hands step by step. Just before it landed on his bare chest, he held her hand. “Easy, baby…Clark’s nothing you can handle” he said. “I couldn’t resist….Clark? She mentioned his name as if it was a question that demanded a quick answer. Clark chuckled. Denise just didn’t know who she was dealing with. He turned to his bodyguards and nodded his head and immediately, they stepped back. Clark rose to his feet and walked over to Denise. “shall we?” he asked. She sipp
