Darrell
All the things Christopher had said really got to me and I knew I had to make some things clear for myself. First, I needed to speak with my father because he was the only one I could go to for all the information I needed, and also ask his permission to see my mother. She was the only parent who cared about me. My father never really cared. He has always been a selfish person. A lot of times, I curse the goddess for sending me to such a family. But I guess, you can't pick your family, but you can pick your friends. I had a few friends, Christopher was the best of them. We practically grew up together.
We got to my house and luckily, we found my father in the living area with Delta Bernard. They were discussing in low voices, like they didn't want the walls to hear what they were saying; which was why they were jumpy when they saw us. Actually, my father saw me first and tapped his Delta who then turned back to look at us. I was a bit surprised by their reactions but I paid it no mind at the moment. I was hoping to meet my father alone to have this conversation with him. I was still determined to have it alone with him regardless.
"Good afternoon father, Delta Bernard," I greeted them getting closer to where they were seated. Christopher did the same, coming to stand beside me but I noticed he kept his face down, probably as a sign of respect or just fear; I didn't know for sure.
"What do the two of you want?" my father replied without acknowledging the greeting. But Delta Bernard nodded to me and Christopher. My father had never truly cared for anyone except his ego and societal status. Ever since I can remember, he had never shown any form of affection to me or my mother. I have always wondered if he had no emotions because he showed none when my mother was accused; he was quick to throw her in jail even though she hasn't been proven guilty. She is a Luna for goodness sake! He didn't have to treat her the way he did. Even though she isn't the best person in the world, he could have at least kept her under house arrest instead of locking her up in a common cell.
"I would like to speak with you father" I finally replied to his question.
"About what?" he asked.
"Can your Delta kindly excuse us?" I was determined to get rid of him.
"You want my Delta to excuse us while you have someone with you? If you want to have a private conversation with me, then your friend should excuse us as well, otherwise my Delta stays here" he argued. He had a valid point, I guess; which meant I had to say what I needed to say with everyone in the room.
So I began "Alright then. It's about my mother. I need to know if she really did what she's been accused of. I cannot wait to find out at the same time as the rest of the pack members. She is my mother and I need to know the truth so I can know how to protect her" I blurted it out. I looked at Christopher who then gave me a half smile as if to say "that's right". I then faced my father who still had no expression on his face.
"Protect?" he asked, with a puzzled look on his face. "Protect her from what exactly? And how do you intend to do that if she's found guilty, because even I wouldn't be able to do that if that turns out to be the case. And if she's innocent, then there will be need for protection so what are you talking about, boy?" He said. He had avoided the important part of what I said by asking me that question but I wasn't going to let that go easily. I just wanted to see my mother.
"Is she innocent?" I asked him. He didn't reply to me at first which made me ask again "is she innocent, father?" he looked at me and then at Christopher and he finally said "I have important issues to deal with Darrell, leave the matter alone". Did he just say "important issues"? So my mother was not important? How could he even say something like that at a time like this. Did he really feel nothing at all for the woman he married?
"She's your mate! Don't you feel anything for her? Is she not important to you?" I screamed out of anger and frustration. Even Delta Bernard was surprised at my father's reaction but he kept it to himself and I could understand why. I wondered what they were discussing before we walked in on them.
"Boy, you better watch your tone with me!" he roared at me with his Alpha authority. "You do not want to force my hand. I am handling the situation. Now leave us" he finished and attempted to dismiss us, but I needed his permission to see my mother.
So I asked him "can I at least see her?" Letting me see her was the least he could do for me and I hoped to the goddess that he would oblige me.
"You know that is not possible, moreover you'll see her during trial so just forget about that. If there's nothing else, I'd like to return to work now" he said. I was not satisfied but there was nothing more I could say or do that would make him change his mind at the moment, so I decided to leave. I signaled Christopher and we left them.
As we were walking out, I linked Christopher "I do not need my father's permission to see my mother. I am going to see her tonight, Chris, one way or another" I looked at him and I could tell he saw the determination in my eyes because he looked scared. He linked me back.
"I'm with you Darrell, I just hope to the goddess that we do not get in trouble with whatever we would be doing to make sure you see your mother". I understood his worry but I was also grateful for his support. I am glad to have him as a friend, and a true one at that; you can not say that about everyone. Now we need to come up with a plan to see my mother. How do we get past the guards?
Darrell We would have to get past the guards in order to see my mother, and Chris and I were not coming up with any brilliant ideas. All the things we have been suggesting were either too dangerous or just stupid. "You know you can just walk up to them and order them to take you to your mother, right?" Chris said. It sounded right but I knew better. "I don't have that kind of authority, Chris. Moreover, don't you think my father would have ordered them not to let anyone visit any detainees?" I pointed out. I knew my father would have put orders in place to keep my mother from making contact with people and that would be no surprise. But I was open to any ideas that were not the foolish ones we have been coming up with. We went to the prison yard together to try out our luck with hopes that word would not get to my father. "Darrell, you know this was my idea, right? So if it does not pan out, it's on you to come up with a better one" Christopher pointed out. "More like a suggest
Christopher Darrell and I have been friends ever since we were little kids and we have grown to become more like brothers. We have always had each other's backs in tough times and also whenever either or both of us got into trouble. Seeing him go through a lot of emotions because of his mother's situation touched me deeply, he needed emotional support at a time like this and I would be there for him. I couldn't help but wonder why his father, the Alpha, would not let him see his own mother. No matter the crime one has committed, their loved ones should be allowed to see them. Not allowing people see their loved one who have been put in prison seemed unfair because if that person is found guilty of the crime they were accused of, they get either the death penalty or the life sentence. And they are usually taken to a different confinement when they get the life sentence. We would not be here trying to break the law if the law was fair to begin with. Darrell needed to see his mothe
Darrell I searched through my mother's bathroom cabinets but could not find any sedatives. All I found were aspirin and some antibiotics. I went to my father's bathroom to see if I would find something. I doubted I would find any but I had to explore all avenues. I looked through his cabinets but found nothing useful to me. I was disappointed, not because I was expecting my parents to be into drugs but because I would now have to reach out to Lilith, and I really did not want to. I brought out my phone and searched for her contact. I found it and dialed. She picked up on the second ring and spoke with a sultry voice which did not have its intended effect on me "Hi handsome. Missed me?" Paying no attention to her question, I replied "I need to see you immediately. Meet me at Nelly's restaurant". I have not eaten since morning and it was already 3:00 in the afternoon so I would use that opportunity to recharge my belly there. Before I could hang up, she replied "in a heartbeat". It
Darrell I walked out of the restaurant feeling satisfied. It was still 3:45 in the afternoon. I believed I gave Lilith enough time to get the pills. So I decided to meet up with Christopher to get the full details of his encounter with the server. I brought out my phone from my breast pocket and dialled his number. The call rang out. I dialled his number again and he picked up on the third ring. "What's going on, Chris? I told you to stay by the phone" was what I said when he picked up. "I'm sorry bro, I fell asleep," he replied. "So what's up? Any luck with the sedatives?" he asked. "Yeah, meet me at the armory in 2 minutes" I replied to him and hung up. I could have gone to his place to meet him but I did not want to be held up by his mother. The woman asks a lot of questions and it always gets on my nerves. The last time I went over to his place, that was the day after my mother was put in prison, Christopher's mother asked a bunch of questions that annoyed me to the point o
DarrellChristopher always had a way of making me feel better whenever I was feeling down. I appreciated his friendship a whole lot and I'm glad I met him in this lifetime. He has been nothing but supportive throughout the years I've known him. Just as he has promised to always have my back, I will always have his. I brought out my phone to call Lilith to find out how she was doing with the favour I asked of her as it was already 4:30 pm. As I was about to dial her number when my father linked me. "Yes, father." I answered him. "Come to the house now," he ordered and broke the link. What did he want from me now? I should be heading to Nelly's to meet up with Lilith for the sedatives but my father decided to see me now. I guess I will have to ask Christopher to represent me instead, I would not want to reschedule with Lilith. Whatever my father wanted from me would probably take a while so I had to make sure all grounds are covered and nothing is left hanging while I'm absent. I li
DarrellI rushed out of Nelly's after taking the pills from Lilith. I had to find a place to crush them but I knew I couldn't go home lest my father sees me. I wasn't supposed to be around anyway, I didn't want him finding out I delegated the errand he sent me to Christopher. He would definitely flip out if he should find out; I've seen him angry a lot of times and it is not something to look forward to. He could break a wolf's spirit when he's angry. I headed to the armoury and found a quiet corner to crush the pills to dust. The time was already a quarter past six, so I headed to the prison building to wait for the time. As I was walking, I bumped into Lilith. She had a backpack, so I guessed she was going to work on somebody. "You got a gig?" I asked her, trying to make small talk even though I didn't really have the time. I just thought it would be awkward bumping into someone you know without saying something to them. "Yeah, I got a gig. I'm painting a couple of people for one
Christopher I still couldn't see clearly after being knocked down by Darell. That was quite a blow for speaking the truth, I mean I did call his mother a bitch but only because it was true. "Darell that punch was not necessary. You and I both know that I didn't say anything new, you need to learn how to manage your anger," I said to him sitting on the floor where I fell and nursing my temple. "And you need to watch what you say about my family," he retorted in anger. Darrell hasn't been the same ever since his mother, who's the Luna of our pack was accused of murder; it is claimed she allegedly killed the Beta of our pack who was formerly the Gamma but rose in ranks through 'dubious' means. Before he maneuvered his way to that position, my father was Beta; but Darrell chose to keep me as his Beta and made sure everyone in our generation referred to me as such. It honestly felt weird, bearing the Beta title while my dad bore the Gamma title. It was quite unheard of in the history
