Imade rushed up from the sleeping position she had fallen asleep in, printed papers scattered all over her apartment and her laptop still wide open and running despite the owner falling asleep. The loud knock was getting irritating and she knew it wasn’t Elle. Her best friend had her own keys, it would be someone important. After her date with Romero went sour and he left mid-meal in anger, Imade found herself trying to gather more things about the man himself.
Being in the same space with him took her to breathe away literally, she wasn’t expecting him to take the whole space up like that. Maybe she had imagined him too much that she actually set the bar so mid. Romero Vaughan broke the bar and went over it. She probably didn’t expect the man to look that scary in person.
When she met him, she literally got knocked off her feet. He was simply breathtaking. No other words would describe him that perfectly. She just stared on and she wished she didn’t, the outcome was later too embarrassing for her to deal with. When she was led to the table, he wasn’t on the seat but a man stood out in the whole of the place.
His suit jacket was nowhere to be found and his shirt had the first three buttons undone. He was in an animated conversation with someone and Imade was sure he wasn’t speaking English. He was so calm yet he looked like he was going to rip the person’s head off. She wanted to stop staring but something about her eyes kept wandering back to him. She didn’t want to be embarrassed but he was a sore sight for the eyes.
He ended the call abruptly and he turned to walk toward her. His strides were long and his face was void of any emotions. It was too late, he had caught her staring at him. Rather than acknowledge her, he pulled his chair out and sat down before he continued conversing with a woman Imade had not noticed before.
_______
Imade squeezed out of the tight-fitting dress and she looked at the pile of dresses still waiting for her to test, she had no idea how she was going to survive all of this. Since she started preparing for the impromptu wedding, she knew everything would be chaos. She wasn’t even the one in charge of planning the whole thing. Romero had sent his trusted aide to help out with the whole process and she took over everything without any care. Imade’s dream o planning her wedding with her best friend has been squashed.
“Romero would love this dress on you, the bright shade of yellow is compelling. It would suit your skin so well.” Arianna said and Imade stared at her as she brought a flashy yellow dress to meet her. The dress looked too ridiculous for her to wear and she was sure the other woman wasn’t thinking so well before she picked it. She hated the way everything centered around Romero, not even one person had asked her if she wanted something at the wedding.
“Hello sweetheart, I was going to ask you what kind of flowers you want at your wedding? I heard you mention how you wanted a lot of flowers. Do you have any specific one in mind that you’d love e o add to the list or any particular color?” The wedding planner asked and Imade turned to look at the woman holding a tab to take notes of what she would say. Imade just nodded, trying to think of what kind of colors she wanted at her wedding. It wasn’t even looking like it was her wedding anymore. She was grateful that the planner even remembered her words.
“A daffodil or a daisy should be nice, You know we are sticking to the yellow theme. Romero would totally love the color yellow, it would give her a bonus point.” Arianna interrupted and Imade took short breaths willing herself not to get mad or something. She hated it when people don’t know when to push things and when not to, she would rather not get married than be pushed around like this. She hated the way Arianna carried on like she just didn’t try to make decisions for her, it was annoying.
“You know what, maybe you should try the dresses instead of me since you know the perfect kind of dresses that Romero would love and enjoy your marriage with him. As for me, I’m done here. I don’t care what’s going on here and I don’t give fuck about what you or Romero thinks. I’m out of here. You are just an aide, you’d not speak to me like you’re his mom or something. Since you want to be me so bad, you can have the floor. ” Imade dropped the dress she was holding and she threw on her former clothes before she grabbed her phone and she walked out leaving them in a pin drop silence.
_______
“You are the cause of the disrespect to me, you let her embarrass me out there. She called me a common aide, she referred to me as a mere servant. Romero, I’m your best friend. I’m the woman you love so much. Why are you doing this to me, to us?” Arianna asked with tears pooling out of her eyes and Romero only rubbed her back in circles. He had no idea what to say to her or to do to the said woman. He isn’t growing younger and he needs the whole mafia circle to believe in him. He wouldn’t be allowed to take over his father’s position without a wife by his side.
She continued to cry while she clung to Romero who looked uncomfortable as hell, He had seen the footage of what happened and Arianna herself wasn’t innocent. To top it all, she was trying to get him to hate the girl by suggesting yellow stuffs to her knowing well that he hated the color so well, This was probably the fifth year of their friendship. He knew her too well, so he would just console her rather than make promises to deal with Imade.
He cradled her head in his hands and she was staring at him, he broke the eye contact when his eyes filtered down to her dry chapped lips. As if she could read his mind, she ran her lips over them and he smirked. She knew exactly what she was doing and this was part of what made her his favorite. He pulled her closer and he replaced her tongue with his mouth. He ran them over the seams of her lips and his hands wrapped around her waist. She molded into him perfectly and he used the other hand to grab her ass.
He trailed his mouth along her neck and she released a moan, he enjoyed the way she was always responsive under his touch. When he wrapped his hands around her neck, she let out another moan, the wedding planning drama forgotten totally. They let go of their clothes as quickly as possible and the air between them quickened the tension. This was what being Romero’s aide entailed, princess treatment and the hot sex.
Romero stood at the corner of his office as he waited for his father who had sent for him. Romero and the older man weren’t always on the same side and maybe being very similar caused it. He had a whole lot of things to do, like go early to his own wedding and maybe get drunk later with a bunch of old friends. The door opened and closed and Romero stood tensed. He readjusted his posture and he kept his eyes glued to the ground.Being in the same room with Lucio Vaughan would do that to you. Five times the world's best mafia don and the undefeatable king of the west mafia zone. He was a man of lesser words and more action. He would rather show you what he is capable of than say it with his mouth. This was part of the reason he was undefeatable in the mafia world. Lucio walked briskly to the window and he stared out at the estate layout, the city he had spent years building. Now very soon, Romero would be taking over soon, it seemed surreal but that was the truth. He would soon be reti
Standing up from the makeup chair, Imade flashed a grateful smile at the makeup artist. The woman had been making made up for as long as she could remember and she was grateful because the woman knew the perfect products that would make her look perfect. Navigating her little career was going well, and one thing she was grateful for was getting her shit together. Nobody owed her shit and she understood that pretty early. This was the way she had been living for a while now and she found it easier to conclude that she didn’t need them too. Growing up forcefully wasn’t a strange concept to Imade, in fact, she knew it was her only way of survival. “Do you want to grab lunch by evening after your show of course? You know something to celebrate your new deal.” Emmanuel asked before scratching his head awkwardly. It was obvious what Imade’s reply would be but he still felt the need to try. He had been trying to get her to go to lunch with him for a long but she always had an excuse to
The whole family was sitting around the sitting room when Imade entered, the snicker on her sister's face was almost missable but it was there. It was no news that Helen thought Imade did some kind of magic and decided to steal all her beauty and outshine the rest of them. At first, she linked it to childhood fantasies and blamed the cartoons but growing up, the hate intensified and Imade avoided her like a plague. She would rather not be in a messy situation with her. She wiled herself to calm down because she wasn’t here for that. Not even her stupid sister would ruin her mood, plus they all made her worried for nothing. All the tension in her body slowly disappeared and she was faced with the horror of actually being in the same room with her entire family. Being the least favorite child would do that to you. The supposed person that was sick or in danger was sitting right beside her ad, looking everywhere except Imade’s face. Shady asf!She took her seat before waiting for whatev
“Imade please breathe. I know you are nervous and you are scared of how this meeting would turn out but please breathe.” Elle tried to calm a now nervous Imade but nothing was working. Since she looked up to the man she was supposed to marry, she had been feeling all types of jitters. The more she read those articles, the more they painted a deadly scenario in her head. What’s worse was that she couldn't stop even after knowing what she was getting into. She kept on devouring more of those devilish articles and now she is stuck with a deadly first impression of Romero Vaughan, nothing would erase that from her head. She took another deep breath and she proceeded to walk around the whole room. Elle was probably watching her and trying to phantom what was going on. She knew how dangerous this man could get and more reasons why she would always curse her father for putting her through so much. He had asked her to meet with him this week and she agreed without any restriction. She didn’
