CHAPTER 16: Bend Over, On Your Knees

My father called me early in the morning to say that we had a family reunion, and I had to bring Killian with me. I didn’t know how to tell it to Killian. He was busy and I didn’t want to talk to him.

I saw him in my peripheral vision when he entered the kitchen. I was still eating and we would head to the company. I didn’t glance at him and just focused on my food.

“I can’t go to your family reunion.”

I heard his voice making me look up. He was sitting on the stool, sipping coffee. I nodded my head at him.

“How’d you know about that?” I asked him curiously without looking at him.

“Your stepmother sent an email yesterday.” He clicked his tongue in annoyance.

It looked like he didn’t like my stepmother; well, that would be good.

We stepped out of the house and headed to the company. And just like usual, I focused on working. I didn’t make friends here because I knew that they were intimidated to approach me because of Killian or maybe because they didn’t like me.
