“Thanks so much for choosing me back there, Shakira. I was really nervous,” I said to Shakira as she embraced her.

“No need to thank me, love; from the moment I heard your voice, I knew I wanted to give you pointers on your song,” she said, and I smiled.

It was evening, but the remaining contestants were still in their practice rooms with their coaches, including me.

For now, Shakira was going to tell me about my weaknesses and my strongest points, which I should hold on to, as well as pointers for writing a song.

“What type of lyrics do you write?” Shakira asked.

"Slow and depressing,” I laughed, and she laughed along.

I brought out an unfinished draft of the song I was writing and showed it to Shakira.
