Arkyn led her down the hall towards the bedroom. Alice pulled her hand back, seeing the bedroom door. She clenched her jaw. She didn't want to go back into the room. She hadn't run away. She didn't want to be locked away. Arkyn stopped and turned his eyebrows frowning at her as he waited for an explanation.

“I didn't run.” Alice said quietly, taking a small step back.

“What?” Arkyn asked, looking at her confused as he reached for her.

“I don't want to be locked away.” Alice said quietly.

Arkyn felt his chest tightened; he didn't realize that's what she associated the room with. It was his fault he had boarded up the window and basically left there for two days. He shook his head.

“You're not going to be locked away, it's our room. I’m tired.” Arkyn said quietly letting his hand drop so she would know he is not forcing her.

“I’m not?” Alice said disbelieving as she looked at him studying him for a sign of him lying.
