Abused:
The loud smack echoed across the kitchen. Alice didn't even look up as the pain raidated up her cheek and into her ear. She continued to look down at the counter she had been cleaning. Her step mother was standing across the counter holding her hand as if smacking Alice across the face caused her pain.
“You over cooked the fucking eggs.” Her step mother screamed as she shook out the pain from her hand.
“I’m sorry Step-
Another blow landed across Alice’s face as the taste of blood flooded her mouth. She knew her lip was bleeding and her teeth had sunk into the side of her cheek as she tasted iron.
“I told you to never call me that. I want nothing to do with you.” Her step mother hissed at her.
“I’m sorry Mistress.” Alice said, keeping her head bow and not bothering to look up at her.
I wish her hand would fucking break. Lenore growlened inside of Alice, begging to be let out.
We are stronger than her! Let me out and I can rip her throat out. Lenore said, pushing the shift.
And then what? Become a Rogue? Runaway? You know that means death. Alice shot back at her.
We need to stay here to survive. Alice said sharply.
The sound of glass hitting the floor almost made her jump, she glanced over to the breakfast table to see James had pushed his plate off the table and it landed on the floor. A cruel smile on his face as he was adding fuel to the fire.
“Your eggs too?” Her Step Mother snapped to James.
“Yeah the bastard bitch doesn't know how to cook. I don't know why we keep her around. She is useless.” James said his voice disgusted.
“You're not eating today. Pick up this mess before your father comes down stairs and sees more of your failure.” Her stepmother hissed as she turned away from her.
Alice nodded and put the rag she was using to clean the counter down and made her way over to the breakfast table. James was still there with a shit eating grin on his face. She hated him. She tried so hard in the beginning to win him and her step mother Sarah over but nothing she did was ever enough. They eventually poisoned her father against her. Her father Karl was in such grief losing her mother to cancer that Sarah weasled her way into their life. She was in their house before her mothers body was cold in the ground. Sarah was her mothers nurse. Everyone thought it was so great that her father had someone to step up and take care of him and his hopeless lost daughter. If they only knew. Alice began picking up pieces of the broken plate and placing them inside the pocket of her apron. James wasn't done having his fun. He moved his foot and kicked her in the face with his boot. Alice landed backwards on the ground. She clutched her nose in her hand feeling blood starting to drip from it.
“You little clumsy brat. Don't you get any of your nasty blood on the floor.” Sarah sneered at her.
Noise from the stairs announced that her father was coming down. Old her would be excited and hopeful that maybe he would save her. Maybe he would look at her and see how she has become a shell of a person. That her cheeks are no longer flushed with color. That you could see the bones in her chest a little too much. That she starved, beaten, and dirty. She didn't even look up as he reached the bottom of the steps. She knew there was no hope anymore. She might as well be dead.
“What happened?” Karl asked not even noticing his daughter. He fixed himself a plate of the breakfast Alcie had cooked.
“You know…she's just worthless but let's not talk about it. I have more news.” Sarah smiled and patted the table next to her.
Alice shut her eyes as she got up and started picking up the rest of the broken plate. She was waiting for more comments and maybe another broken plate. She knew the food wasn't over cooked. They looked for anything they could use to hurt her. She was waiting for the day her father finally did something instead of ignoring her. Karl began eating like it was just another day. Sarah looked a little upset as if she wanted him to say the food was gross or wrong. This just told Alice she was right. There was nothing she could do about it though.
“What’s the exciting news?” Karl asked, taking a bite out of his sunny side up egg.
“We are going to throw a banquet!” Sarah smiled brightly and almost clapped.
“For?” Karl said, swallowing the last bit of egg.
Alice got up and walked over to the trash placing the pieces of the broken place inside. She grabbed the broom and began sweeping the rest of the pieces up. She wanted to leave. She wanted to just disappear.
We should just go, take our chances with the rogues. We don't even know if the stories are true. It's better than being here. Lenore said to her as she finished cleaning the broken plate.
You might be right. Alice answered her back.
She went to the sink and began washing the frying pan she used for breakfast trying to tune out the conversation going on at the breakfast table.
“James, he’s found his mate.” Sarah smiled brightly.
Oh thank god Alice thought hearing the news. He will leave to go with his mate and hopefully only be around on speical occainsons. Maybe she’s in a whole nother pack all together. Alice smiled thinking about it as she ran water over the pan.
“Mmm good for you James. Who is she?” Karl asked not really interested but was asking to be please Sarah.
“Lizzy.” James smiled proudly.
“As in the Alpha’s daughter?” Karl asked, now extremely interested.
Alice’s heart sank. Lizzy. Did he just say Lizzy. The Alpha’s daughter. Alice dropped the frying in the sink by accident. The loud noise echoed around the kitchen.
“Alice! You fucking cluts!” Sarah yelled as she threw her napkin on the table.
Alice expected her to come over and slap her again but she didn't. Karl caught her hand and Sarah turned her attention back to him. Did he just save her? Alice wondered seeing the action.
“We need to invite powerful families. We need to start building his reputation. He’s going to be Alpha. My son is going to be Alpha.” Karl said proudly.
He didnt save me, he is just seeing his own advantages coming together. Alice thought as she turned off the water. The kitchen was cleaned, dishes were done, maybe she could vanish for a little bit.
“I’m already on it. I've invited everyone who has power and money. We will be moving up in the world.” Sarah smiled brightly.
Alice began moving towards the exit of the kitchen. She was almost out when something hit her in the back of the head. Luckily it was just the napkin and not something like a cup. Alice stopped and turned slowly not knowing what to expect.
“You will not be seen. I do not want some poor excuse of a step - ...person like you to show their face. I do not want you to be linked to James.” Sarah said in her voice, spiteful and disgusted.
“Yes ma’am.” Alice nodded and went to step out.
“No, I am not finished talking to you.” Sarah said standing up.
“You will spend Saturday all day in the kitchen. You're going to be cooking and that's it. If we shut you away and keep you busy maybe you won't fuck this up; like you do everything else.” Sarah said with a sick cruel smile on her face.
“Yes ma’am.” Alice said and stood there waiting for Sarah to tell her she could go.
“Get out of my sight. When we are done here you can come back and finish cleaning.” Sarah said, sitting back down.
They went back to discussing who she had already invited and how she already had food and drinks planned. How Lizzy's mother and her are becoming close friends and she needs Karl to do the same with the current Alpha. Alice left her stomach dropping. The only hope she had was just crushed. She was hoping that on her eighteenth birthday which was saturday she would be able to leave this home and find a new pack. If James was going to be the Alpha of the pack there was no place for her here anymore.
She was going Rogue and as soon as they were all busy at the banquet she was taking off.
Escape: “Oh Alice, wait!” Sarah called after Alice as she was walking away. Alice’s head dropped, right now she just wanted to be invisible. To be left alone. She came back into the room, he bowed. “Yes Ma’am.” Alice responded by hanging in the doorway of the kitchen. “Go on, Karl , tell her.” Sarah smiled brightly, Alice knew this was not sincere happiness, well maybe it was but it just meant something horrible for her. “Oh um..Alice.” Karl rubbed his forehead, he was still hung over from the night before. After Alice’s mother died Karl tok up drinking hard. Sarah didn't mind because she got everything she asked for and didn't have to do anything in return. Karl rubbed his face trying to think straight as Alice waited patiently. “Oh what the hell Karl.” Sarah grumbled, swatting the table with her hand. “We are sending you to the pack house.” Sarah smiled brightly, as she patted Karl’s hand. “The pack house.” Alice said her own voice in disbelief. “Yes..the pack house.”
Brand: James dragged Alice’s limb body across the front yard and dropped her just in front of the porch. Sarah was standing there waiting and when she laid eyes on Sarah’s limp body she looked concerned for a second. “Did you kill her?” Sarah whispered, her voice cracking a little as she spoke, her eyes searching for Karl. “No, she’s just passed out.” James said, rolling his eyes. “Ok good.” Sarah said relieved, she didn't know how Karl would react if Alcie was dead. She knew he was fine with sending her away but mostly because it made him not have to see his dead wife every day. Alice looked exactly like her. Her long raven colored hair, golden color eyes and sun kissed tan skin. She was gorgeous, even malnourished and dirty. Sarah would never tell her that. James' eyes wandered over Alice’s unconscious body. A small groan escaped her and made his body react. Sarah shot him a glance and he stepped back from her. “Don't look at her like that. You have to have eyes only for El
Loretta: “Loretta.” Henry’s voice echoed throughout their small one bedroom cabin as he entered. Alice walked in behind him, looking around. It was small but at least it was there she thought. Loretta came out from the kitchen, her face wondering why Henry yelled for her.‘What is it Henry?” Loretta asked, her blue eyes landing on Alice.“Alice? What has happened to you?” Loretta asked, moving towards her.“Why in god's name are you wearing a red collar?” Loretta demanded.“They branded her and are sending her to the pack.” Henry answered shortly. “No.” Loretta said, her hand going to her mouth, as she really saw Alice. Alice stood in the doorway cradling her arm, twigs and dirt all through her hair. Loretta opened her arms to her and Alcie walked over to her. Loretta had always looked out for her the best she could since her mother died. Loretta wrapped her arms around her and pulled her into her chest.“That woman needs to get what's coming ehr. She is beyond cruel.” Loretta wh
No Escape: Dinner was silent as Alice waited in the corner for them to finish, eyes casted at the floor. Her arm was still aching but the ointment Loretta placed on it was making the pain bearable. The chairs began to move about from the table and Alice cringed hoping they would just leave her alone and go about the remainder of the evening. They had made her suffer enough, todayHer father was passed out up stairs. He apparently threw a giant fit after he branded her, drank way too much and was carried up the stairs. Every now and then you could hear him, wake up, groan and then it was silent. “How did it go with Eliza?” Sarah spoke up, setting her fork down and patting her mouth with a napkin.“Fine. She loved the roses and Alpha enjoyed the cigars, we smoked one together and began talking about the pack.” Jame said proudly, pushing his plate away.“Excellent, you will be Alpha soon enough. We are so proud of you.” Sarah beamed.“We need to get rest; the banquet is tomorrow and th
Run: As he pulled her towards him Jame’s hand slid to her side capturing her waist. His other hand, holding her wrist, grasped her hand harder. He turned her hand, bending it downwards, and brought it towards him. Alice let out a small gasp as she felt something hard beneath her hand. James pinned her hand against his hard member. Alice tried yanking her hand away from James' pelvis. James growled as she struggled against him. The more she tried to pull away the more she pressed against him. She could feel him underneath her hand. She began to hit him with her free hand trying to step and pull back away from her. James' hold on her was too strong. Her closed fist blows to his chest weren't even phasing him. “Yeah you feel that. You’ll be feeling that in you soon.” James whispered a sick smile on his face as he moved her hand against it, forcing her to rub him, a groan escaping his lips as it happened. Alice grabbed a hold of him and began to squeeze his member hoping that she wou
The Red Dress: “Alice!!” Sarah screamed at the top of her lungs, she stood in the middle of the kitchen fuming. “Did the dumb girl run away?’ Sarah asked her eyes darting to Karl and James. James shrugged and Karl held his head hung over. The screaming was hurting his head and he couldn't even begin to process what Sarah needed. “Alice!!” Sarah screamed again this time banging on the counter top as she stomped her foot. “For the love of god Sarah.” Karl groaned, cradling her head. “Don't Sarah me! Your damn daughter is fucking everything up again.” Sarah said anger coursing through her voice. “Alice!!!” Sarah yelled her voice bouncing off the walls of the house. Alice’s head sunk forward and then jolted back as she heard her name screamed. She brought the knife up ready to defend herself. Her head hitting the shelf in the closet. She still held the knife tightly in her hand as she tried to understand what was happening. She saw light from under the door. What time was it? She
Spilt Wine:The steam from the pans on the stove stung her brand. She didn't get a chance to wrap it. Any type of heat made it ache. She had lost the ointment loretta gave her when James tried to rape her. She shook her head as she leaned over checking the oven. She could hear the noises coming from the hall. From the sounds coming from the hall, All the guests had arrived. Laughter and music trickled into the kitchen. She felt angry thinking about how James and her Stepmother must be having a great time. That everything is working out perfectly for them. She gritted her teeth as she felt the heat on her brand again. She looked around the kitchen, taking in the other workers. She was working with four other people who haven't spoken to her since she got there. They were wearing beige colored outfits. She felt a tinge of regret seeing the color. She didn't think it could get any worse than being a beige, that was until she was given red. It was never even a thought in her mind that t
Meeting:Alice’s footsteps were heavy as she walked down the hall. She could hear laughter and music being played, while people ate and drank. Why was she cursed to suffer like this? How can they be so fucking happy when they allow people to suffer like this. The red dress burned against her skin as she felt her body begging her to react. She could feel her stomach twisting and her chest caving but she isn't acknowledging it. She wanted to be completely numb. She wouldn't let that bitch see her break, she decided as she turned down the hall. At the very end the master sweet door beckoned her. She gritted her teeth, maybe he’ll kill us and we won't have to go stand on a stage like some cattle for sale. No one is killing us and no one is selling us. Drop the wine off and then we will duck out the back stairwell. We won't even go back to the kitchen. Hell, we can climb out a window. Once outside shift. You know I am faster than all those soldiers. I will get us out of here. Lenore gro
Vow:Eliza paced the room, her hand resting on her belly. She was waiting ro Alice to wake up but part of her wanted to run, to flee Black Mountain. She felt the pull to him. She had felt it before with James. She felt sick thinking about it. She couldn’t stop thinking about his ruffled blond hair and deep chocolate brown eyes. She couldn’t, she had to think about her and her unborn child. What man would want to take on this? Especially with the child's father being their enemy even though he’s dead. She needed to just think about her and mend the relationship with Black Mountain, go back to Red River and make the pack better and new. A knock on the door tore her from her thoughts and pacing. She inhaled while walking to the door slowly. She put a smile on her face chasing away her thoughts. She knew Arkyn would come to talk to her at some point, she was still a little terrified of him but she needed to end the feud James had started and helping saving him in his pack sounded like it
Lenore saw Arkyn collapse to his knees. She dropped Norris’s head from her mouth and ran towards him. As he slumped over she slid underneath him bracing him against impact. As he collapsed onto her she shifted into human form, her hands wrapping around him as he fell against her. “Arkyn!” She yelled as she cradled him to her, blood pouring from his sides. Why wasn’t he healing? She kneeled in front of him. She was completely naked, blood covered the front of her, running from her chin like war paint down to her stomach. Her long black hair concealing her naked breast as she checked to see if he was still breathing. She watched his chest slowly raise and fall. It was slow, she needed to get him to the hospital now. She pulled him against her, her arms going under his shoulders. Her eyes locked on her destination as she began to drag him. She shut her eyes trying to focus all her strength on pulling him. Blood smeared across the white snow as she began dragging him. The battle around
Fight:The ground was littered with bodies, some dying others no longer in this world. Arkyn had several at his feet, Blood running down both his arms, a mixture of his own and the ones he had slaughtered. Arkyn growled, becoming frustrated as he could feel members of his pack dying in the battle. Conan pushed him forward. His Anger pushed him forward.Norris locked eyes on Arkyn, a grin appearing on his face as he watched him walk through the crowd, slaughtering anyone that attempted to touch him. He walked effortlessly, Norris couldn't help but be a little impressed at hsi skills and how easily he made it look. Norris twirled the bottle in his hand. He had been waiting for years for this moment. Not only would he slaughter his whole pack but he would make sure Arkyn died slowly and painfully. The liquid silver in the vial felt warm beneath his touch the glass, the only thing preventing it from poisoning him. Norris tucked it away, it had to be done in the most perfect timing. Ark
War:“Garold, I need you to take Alice and go.” Arkyn said, shoving Alice into Garold. “Go where? Arkyn we are surrounded, I am staying and fighting with you.” Alice growled angrily.“I..I can’t. I cant have anything happen to you. Do you hear me, even if I die here, that’s fine. This was how I was always supposed to go out but you, you need to live and you need to go.’ Arkyn growled fiercely. “I am not-“Garold, I command you to take her and go!” Arkyn yelled using his Alpha status to ensure Garold would submit.“Alpha.” Garold said, trying to resist the order.“Don’t …make…me…” Garold said his body twitching as he began sweating, pain starting to radiate throughout him.“Arkyn I am fine. I am staying.” Alice said, grabbing a hold of his hand.“Alice I cannot lie you die here or worse.” Arkyn said his eyes flickering to Garold who he knew any minute would have to cave.“Arkyn i would have died in a cell or worse if you didn’t come to Red River. I am not-As the word not left her mo
Fire:“That's it, there's the signal!” Curt yelled his body vibrating with happiness as he began to move. He stopped short looking to Norris. Norris sighed loudly and at Curt but inside his wolf was vibrating with pure adrenaline and rage, waiting and wanting to cause havoc and pain on Arkyn’s pack. Curt’s eyes glossed over as he informed the pack and they began to move out of the woods, like shadow figures of the night. The glow of the bright orange flames catching the wood on fire brighter the dark area. Conan lunged at Jonah sinking his teeth into his leg and tossing him towards the flames. Jonah let out a loud yell as Conan stalked towards him, teeth snarling and chopping. A loud bang pushed Conan back and the bright flash that lit up the area made everyone shield their eyes.Garold pushed through the crowd of men, all of them not reacting and all stunned at what just happened. Even Jonah’s men were not sure what the explosion was. Everyone was trying to get their bearings back.
Stand off:Norris paced the woods just outside Black Mountain. He was waiting for the signal or for Arkyn to arrive. He had been waiting for this moment. He really wished it had been his father. Not much was said about how he died. He hoped he suffered. Died slowly, painfully. Alone. Norris ran his hair through his short sandy color hair. His dark green eyes studying the entrance. Years of living in the Dark Forest made his eyes accustomed to the dark, he could see for miles. The weather was not bothering him either. No sunshine meant the forest did not get warm. He clenched his jaw waiting. “Alpha, any sign yet?” Curt said walking up to his side, his dark brown eyes scanning the entrance as he tossed his braid behind him. “No but there was a jailbreak for a second. I sent word to Jonah that the raven hair girl jumped out the window and broke Arkyn’s men out of jail.” Norris smiled a little. “A girl?” Curt asked his eyes scanning for a child.“No Arkyn’s woman, his mate. She’s eit
SOS:“Alpha, the pack is locked in the hall. Jonah is threatening to burn it down. We are outside just in front of the hall.” Njar rapidly sent through mindlink.“Pour mountain Ash on them, The mindlinking needs to stop.” Jonah said as he walked down the stairs from the stage. “There’s a pack helping Jonah -'' Njar was cut off as mountain ash was dumped on him, he flinched in pain, his eyes flicking to Alice regret in them.“Dark..Forest.” Skarde sent his voice weak even in mindlink, he heard the order of mountain ash and did not know if Arkyn would get the message. He needed to try. Skarde was covered with mountain ash, he crashed further into the snow covered. The men walked around sprinkling the dust on everyone to ensure no one would be able to communicate with Arkyn. The man walked towards Alice who was dosing out the mountain ash.“Never mind her, she is packless. She might as well be a rogue.” Jonah chuckled. The words stung, reminding her that she had wished that she had ac
Almost: “So just how did you escape?” Njar smirked as they reached the door to the dungeon. “Jumped.” Alice said a small smirk on her face as she pushed the doors opened and walked out into the cold air. “You were a bird or monkey in another life.” Njar laughed. “No …maybe a cat. Nine lives in all. Just remember to say thank you when i’m all done saving your butts.” Alice laughed as they began moving silently through the darkness heading to the hall. The hall was in sight, they were almost there. They were almost all free and ready to take back their pack. Alice paused just in front of the hall, something was off. Her eyes fixated on a large stage placed in front of the hall and a large stake in the middle of it. She tilted her head, her brain trying to understand exactly what she was looking at and when did it get there. “Surrender.” Jonah’s voice said from behind the group. They all turned and Jonah’s army slowly surrounded them. That was fine, they could fight and take th
Jailbreak: The cold wind blowing from the window sent chills running through her. Alice stood at the window, fidgeting with her fingers. She had jumped out the window before. It was more adrenaline than anything. She took a deep breath and pulled open the window. She looked down at the snow on the ground. It was just like before, she would have perfect padding she told herself. The only thing different is if she didn't do this it wasn't just her life she was trying to save but the whole pack. “Jump!” Lenore shouted in their mind. Alice took a deep breath and jumped. The wind rushing up at her made her inhale deeper. She squeezed her eyes shut as the white snow came rushing towards her. Alice relies on Lenore and her quick reflection. Lenore took over just enough not causing a shift but Alice landed neatly in the snow pile. Her Knee pressed into the snow, her hand bracing herself as her jet black hair floated down around. The snow scraping against her skin felt like tiny knives. Al
