Raven's POV
Everywhere was agog with people going and coming. The kitchen was busy. I had taken time to wash my dress in order to ensure that I looked presentable. The whole pack was ready for the ball that would happen later in the day. Guests had started arriving in beautiful cars and attires that would make one salivate and wish for a better life. I was in the middle of hard work, so I had no time to admire people. I couldn't afford to get caught staring at guests. In the process of arranging dishes into a rack, Maggot had come into the kitchen informing me that the Luna wanted to see me. I asked Maggot where the Luna would be and she answered with disdain that the Luna was in the general waiting room. My heart was in my mouth as I walked towards the general waiting room. I knocked gently on the door and I heard someone tell me to open the door and come in. I entered to see the Luna sitting down like the royalty that she was on a sofa. The sofa was green in colour and it contrasted sharply with to the white walls and curtains. I cautioned myself from looking around and quickly knelt before the Luna. 'You called for me Luna,' I said quietly. 'Yes I called for you. I heard you turned eighteen already?' 'Yes, Luna. I turned eighteen two days ago,' I answered humbly. I knew I had to be extra careful not to make her angry. She was a higher ranking wolf and I was a poor Omega. If she killed me, I would be accused of insubordination and they would sweep my death under the carpet like it never happened. 'Good. Now you can be more useful to the pack. This pack has raised you this far. Goddess knows you have caused us more harm than good. You are henceforth going to start repaying this pack's kindness to you.' I almost laughed because of what she said. The pack had been nothing but wicked to me. The majority of them treated me like I was a piece of rag, while some treated me with indifference. The Luna herself was the chairperson of my haters' club. 'Yes, Luna,' I said instead of what was on my mind. 'Very good. I know you are intelligent enough to know that if you refuse the work I am about to give you, there would be dire consequences,' The Luna said looking at me hatefully. 'Yes, Luna,' I said almost trembling. I had never done anything bad to the Luna yet she hated me with passion. 'Two Alphas would be coming to the ball. They are twin Alphas actually. I want you to be the one to attend to them after the ball, they would be needing one or two assistants in their room and you must do all their biddings. If they ask you to jump, you ask them how high. Is that taken?' 'Yes, Luna. But can I ask a question?' 'Go ahead and ask. As far as it is not a stupid one.' 'How will I identify them when they come?' 'You can't miss them in a crowd. They are the Alphas of the Luna's Den,' The Luna said smiling wickedly. Fear ran a fast race down my spine. The Luna's Den Alphas? They were feared by everyone and every pack. In whispers among the Omegas, I had once heard that even our Alpha was afraid of them. They were said to be mateless. Some even said the amount of blood on their hands made the moon Goddess choose not to give them mates. It was believed that their mateless situation had made them more vicious than any Alpha in all of the surrounding packs. I shivered in fear. The Luna should have just killed me herself and be done with it. Was she expecting me to make a mistake and be killed by the Alphas so that her mate would think she had no hand in my death? 'Luna, please can I do something else,' I shivered as I asked the question. 'Are you refusing to do as I have said?' The Luna asked angrily. 'No ...I .. what...I,' I stammered, feeling very helpless. 'Shut your mouth this minute you ungrateful imbecile. I am giving you the opportunity of a life time and you are foolishly saying nonsense. I should have you flocked within an inch of your life.' 'I am sorry Luna. I am really sorry,' I apologised as tears poured down my face. 'Get your useless self out of here and go make yourself useful,' The Luna said raising her voice angrily 'Yes, Luna. I am sorry,' I apologized again tearfully. Just as I was about to turn the knob and leave she spoke again. 'Wait. Take that dress,' she said pointing at a dress draped on the arm of the sofa closest to the door.' Take that cloth and wear it tonight. You don't have to go into the kitchen or serve during dinner. I will send for you when the Alphas need you and don't think you can go running to Belle and her daughter. You would only be putting them in danger,' I fled the place without a backward glance. I didn't even bother to look at the dress I was given. It smelt like a new one but that was not my interest at that moment. Luna's words scared me. What was I expected to do for the Alphas when there were people already designated to serve them. I got back into the kitchen and Maggot was waiting. She said the Luna said I should be relieved of my kitchen duty and be allowed to go. She said it out loud that almost everyone in the kitchen heard it. She then stepped closer to me to make sure I was the only one that heard her. 'Go watch your dirty self up and come promptly to where you met the Luna immediately people start retiring to their rooms,' she said and walked away from me. I had no option than to leave the kitchen and head to my hut. April and her mother were not in their hut. They too were caught up in the preparation for the Ball. I entered my hut and examined the cloth I was given. It doesn't look bad but the slits on it were sure revealing and gradually the realization of my situation dawned on me. Could the Luna be preparing me for the Alphas to use as sex toy? Or does she want me to at least wear one good cloth in my life before my demise? My brain almost exploded with questions. 'Relax.' My wolf said suddenly. 'Where were you when I needed you?' I said rolling my eyes. 'I couldn't show myself in front of a high ranking wolf. She would pick on my scent,' my wolf explained. 'What do we do now? Should we run away? I guess you can get us out of this place,' 'I can but I would not,' my wolf responded. 'Why not?' I asked surprised. 'Something in my instinct keeps saying we should wait till the end of the ball,' my wolf explained. I closed our link and slummed on the bed and wished that day wasn't going to be the end of me.Raven's POVI stayed in my hut the rest of the day. I waited for April to return from whatever chores she was doing around the pack. My heart was in turmoil. I was angry with my wolf. How can she insist that we stayed till the end of the ball? I couldn't help but doubt her words about her being powerful. I kept a strong lid on our link so that she would not try to communicate with me. 'Raven, are you in there?' I heard April's mum call from outside. My heart immediately started racing. I wasn't expecting her back yet. Of course she was assigned kitchen duties and I knew she was supposed to come home and clean up before it was time to start serving the guest. I was not expecting her to be back soon.I opened the door and met her at the entrance of her own hut.'You are back so early,' I said trying to keep my emotions out of my voice.'Yes. That would be because I told Maggot that I had to ease myself,' she said.'I see. Where is April? I have been waiting for her all day?' I asked, t
Raven's POVI stood near the general waiting room nervous and scared witless. I didn't know what the consequences of what I did earlier would be.I had stayed indoors all through. When I was sure the ball would have started, I left the room and walked to the kitchen wearing two clothes. I wore the one the Luna gave me first then I put my Omega uniform on it.My plan was to pull the uniform off when the time was right to go to the general waiting room.I knew that the Luna instructed me to come to the general waiting room after the ball but I couldn't stay still.Besides I wanted to at least have the image of Bella in my head as I die. The kitchen was full of Omegas running helter skelter to get things done. I looked around sadly. I should have been in the kitchen trying to get things done but I was picked by the Luna to do a special duty that was more dangerous than asking me to walk into a raging fire. With a raging fire, I know what awaits me but with the Luna's special duty, I do
Alpha Roy's POV I didn't want to be dragged to a ball I had refused to attend for years. It was all baseless when we had a Luna rites to perform very soon. My twin brother Roman had insisted we honoured the invite before we performed the Luna rites. Roman attended the ball every two years. It was his thing to have fun when he could but I wasn't like that. I was the serious one. Although we were twins, we differed on a lot of levels. He didn't take life too seriously while I loved thoroughness. We had searched for our mate ever since we turned eighteen to no avail. It has been nine years since then. We were told since we were toddlers that we would have the same mate and we never doubted it. Growing up, we were interested only in the same girls. We shared girls and they often liked Roman more than I, for obvious reasons. I decided that we should pick a chosen since the pack obviously needed a Luna. I was the one who picked Elena. She was the daughter of one of the high ran
Raven's POVI walked to the door and knocked trying not tremble as a voice from inside asked me to hold on. I wished my wolf would just agree with me to run. It was better to try and fail than not try at all. Whatever it was I faced that night was going to be her fault. The door opened to reveal a male standing in nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist. He had clearly just had a shower. His hair was wet and water ran down his body. I felt like catching the droplets with my mouth. I immediately caught my thought when I heard a growl from the male in front of me. I quickly recovered and cleared my throat.'My name is Raven, I was sent by the Luna,' I said not looking into his eyes.'You must be kidding me,' the male growled and pulled me by the hand into the room before closing the door.I started shivering from fear. I heard a door open and close then another voice said,'What is going on here?' He asked. Then I realized I was in the room with two grown male. And from the pow
Alpha Roy's POV'Why would you say we would send for her?' I growled at Roman the instant Raven closed the door.'I intend to take her with me whenever we are going back,' Roman answered.'What? Are you mad?' I asked looking at my brother as if he had totally lost it.'No, I am not mad. She is our mate for crying out loud.''And so. You are going to take an Omega back to the park and introduce her as our Luna? Are you crazy?' I asked Roman.'I should be the one asking you if you are crazy. Raven is our mate, we can't possibly leave her here. She is obviously not safe here.''I am not taking that from you. I would not be disgraced. How would I present an Omega to the pack as our mate. Her wolf is even so weak that our scent doesn't affect her,' I said angrily.'Are you sure about that?' Roman asked 'Maybe if you had not been trying to tear into her throat she might have been able to pick on our scent.''You asked her yourself if she could perceive the connection, she said no.' 'The gi
Raven's POV'What is it child? Please tell me,' Bella pleaded with me.I had been crying for what seemed like hours. My sob had even roused April from sleep. They both tried to calm me down to no avail. When I had cried to my heart content and there seemed to be no tears anymore,'The Luna asked me to serve men in their room,' I said.'What?' Both April and Bella shouted together.'That wicked bitch. How dare her do this to you. She had you abandoned here when you were just a toddler. And now this?' Bella said as angry tears sprang to her eyes.'Oh my days. Are you ok?' April asked looking at me from head to toe as if searching for any mark that could indicate that I was hurt.I nodded. I didn't know what to say. The look on their faces made me think of my foolish act of not telling them the truth.'I asked you what was going on but you lied to me, Raven.' 'I am sorry, she said if I told you and April anything, then I would be putting your lives in danger,' I explained. 'She threat
Raven's POVI followed the soldiers into the pack's house silently. At a point, one of the soldiers laid a hand on my shoulder to stop me from walking further. 'The Luna sent a message. She said when the Alpha asks you where you met the twins, you should say you ran into them when you were delivering toiletries to the guest house,' he said looking at me pitifully.I nodded at him. He then pointed in the direction of the Alpha's office. 'Go straight then turn left, it is the the second door by your right. You can't miss it,' he said and they left me to find my way to the Alpha's office.I have never been to that part of the Pack. I only clean the kitchen and some of the rooms downstairs. Only older Omegas are allowed up the stairs.I walked according to the direction of the soldiers. The Alpha's office door could not be missed. It was big and black. It was the only black door on the corridor.I knocked and entered when I heard a voice say I should come in. I entered to find the Luna
Raven's POVFor the second time in two days, I walked towards the Alphas' guest room door with my heart in my mouth. I knew that as Alpha wolves they would not be happy with being dictated to but I had no option. I had no hope that my request would be granted but I was depending on Alpha Roman's good heart to see reasons with me. 'I knocked on the door and once again Alpha Roy was the one who opened the door. The difference this time was the fact that he was dressed.I didn't know how it was possible but I was sure I could identify them even if their backs were turned.'What are you doing here? You ought to be meeting us outside in an hour so we could depart this place,' he said in his usual annoyed tone.'Please can I come in? I need to discuss something with you both,' I said humbly. I didn't want to make Roy angry before I even tabled my request. He stepped out of the doorway to let me in. I stepped in to see that Roman was standing up and obviously listening to Roy and I.'Hey
