Chapter 8

As I returned to my room, the recent happening burdened me, I moved back and forth circling the room, different thoughts going through my mind. The image of his stern face during that meeting haunted me. The compassion he showed me and the solace I thought I found in his eyes it was as if they never existed, the thought of living under an aggressive rule sent chill down my spine.

Would I be able to bear witness to actions that were so devoid of mercy? Could I live in this situation? All these questions pulverized me.

I decided to give it sometime, to observe and understand him, if I could maybe I would go through with the contract.

Perhaps, as he said, he had to wear different masks and behave according to the situation at hand.

Days passed and everything went on normally the atmosphere was back to normal. One fateful afternoon, as I wandered through the grounds of the mansion Tau’s security personnel subjected one of the workers to merciless punishment.

I got close and with hastine
