Chapter 14

Veronica’s POV

The birds chirped with joy at my windowsill, as the sun made its way through the curtains. My eyes opened slowly, with a moan I pulled the bedcovers over my head. Then I threw myself open and sat on the corner of the bed. Looking out of the window close to my bed, I watched as the birds sat in the trees. The beautiful colours, red, blue, white. Oh, how I wished that I was a bird. Free to fly anywhere.

With a sigh I made my way to the bathroom to take a warm and relaxing shower. I was alone, so to speak. Logan probably left early for his meeting. Only he would know what his meeting held for him.

After my shower I made my way downstairs to the kitchen. In search of something to eat, my stomach was rumbling. Opening the fridge I found a piece of chicken that I hope was from last night. Taking it in my hand I sniffed it to make sure it was still safe for human consumption. I looked around making sure no one saw me eat it. Not knowing if I’m allowed to eat it, but I was so
