Gianni's POV
I finished paying for the things I bought at the supermarket. The black sedan was still outside so I hurriedly dialed Louis' phone number. Louis is my coursemate, friend, and next-door neighbor, and my love interest.I knew the black sedan wasn't going to hurt me but I still needed someone by my side"Why didn't you pick up on time?" I asked over the phone anxiously"Hey, young lady, I was quite busy you know but anyway what's up?" he complained over the phone, I could hear a female voice in the background."Louis, I need you to come and pick me up right away," I said, my voice filled with urgency.Louis sounded surprised at the urgency in my voice."What's wrong? Are you okay?" he asked, concern evident in his tone."I'm being followed by the same sedan and it's parked outside the supermarket right now," I explained, trying to keep my composure, not because I was scared but because my life was falling apart."For real, he was mad to follow a crazy girl" Louis laughed on the other side of the phone."Louis, listen, I'm serious, I am not joking," I explained calmly on the phone."Stay where you are and share your location with me. I'm on my way," he replied, his voice steady and reassuring."Okay." I nodded my head despite the fact he could see me.As I waited for Louis to arrive, my mind raced with various scenarios.Who could be following me, and why, what does this person want?Minutes later, Louis's car pulled up, and I quickly hopped in, grateful for his timely arrival. I relayed my concerns about the black sedan, and we both kept a close eye on it as we drove away."Don't you think it's high time I get you security?" Louis asked about feelings concerned."I'm okay don't worry," I forced a smile on my face."What are your plans for the anniversary?" Louis changed the topic and I felt grateful for it."Just watch TV with you all and eat, that will be enough and I lost one of my jobs today" I stared into the stars trying to hold the tears threatening to fall from my eyes, I felt Louis' hands give me a light squeeze."Ok then we will figure it out tomorrow but first let's deal with today," Louis smiled and I returned it.When we arrived at my apartment, I opened the door and was greeted by Luna arranging the dining table.I dropped my bags on the chair and went to check what Luna was setting on the table while Louis sat on the couch and Luna hugged me."Haven't seen you in a long time," Louis threw the cushion at Luna and she caught and threw it back."You know where I live so what was stopping you?" Luna raised her eyebrows while I opened the dishes one by one and I must say they all look nice."Medical school, I'm sure you wouldn't get that since you are studying literature," a smirk appeared on Louis's face."Law not literature you dimwit," Luna sneered and playful smacked Louis on his head."Where is Arabella?" I hadn't heard her voice since I got back so I felt concerned."I'm here," Arabella said when she entered the living room."How is my pumpkin doing? How were your dance lessons today?" Louis greeted Arabella, she hugged him, and sat beside him.Louis paid for Arabella's dance lessons recently and I'm grateful for that but I can't continue to accept things from him if I want our relationship to take a step forward."I'm fine but why are you here and how come both you and Gianni arrived together?" A curious Arabella asked."Hmmmm, your sister was scared and called me to pick her up," Louis pointed at me and made a funny face making everyone laugh."Let's have dinner first then we can play games then Gianni can tell us stories about Mom and Dad," Arabella suggested while avoiding eye contact with me."Sounds nice," I nodded my head and a small smile played on my lips.*****"Arabella next time make the food, Luna doesn't know how to cook," Louis pretended to gag."What's wrong now?" Luna dropped her spoon."Too much salt," Louis used his hands to fan himself, Louis enjoys playing around with Luna."Are you okay?" Luna asked and everyone's attention fell on me awaiting an answer.I contemplated telling everyone what was on my mind but I didn't want to spoil it on this day and just in time my phone beeped and it was a message."I have to leave, I have work to do," I cleaned my mouth and stood up from the dining table."Where are you off to at this time of the night?" Louis asked concern written all over his face."Professor Lisa asked me to babysit for her son tonight," I explained to everyone.Professor Lisa is one of my lecturers in school, she holds a very high position, when she came to know of my financial situation she offered to help by paying me for my babysitting her grandchildren."Now?" Luna raised her eyebrows."I will be back by tomorrow in time for class," I assured and was about to leave when Arabella stopped me."Again, are you going to leave on this day just for money?" Arabella balled her hands into a fist."Arabella please, you have to understand," I pleaded with my eyes."That what? This is the only way we can feel closer to our parents and you," Arabella questioned and I could see hatred in her eyes for me."Arabella let your sister go," Louis instructed and Arabella kept quiet, like she always listens to Louis, "if you need me to pick you up let me know," Louis added.I rushed to my room to arrange the things I would be needing when a necklace fell out of my wardrobe, I picked it up from the floor and held it tight in my hands as tears rolled down my cheeks. This was the necklace of the person who murdered my family in cold blood, I was going to find and destroy that person.I quickly threw the necklace inside the wardrobe when I heard the door to my room open."Are you okay?" Luna asked and entered the room."Yes, yes I am," I shut the wardrobe, "Arabella hates me right?" I tucked my hair behind my ears."I don't think she does, I feel she is just angry at everything you are going through for a person she barely knows," Luna tried to make me understand."I understand, can you take care of her while I'm gone tonight and make our parents' anniversary a memorable one?" I took Luna's hands in mine."Sure, I and Louis would," Luna smiled."Thanks, I trust you, you know right," I packed up my bag to leave."Have you decided to cut his, I mean your brother's life support before the next payment date?" Luna asked me a question even I didn't want to ask myself and I bit the inside of my mouth and closed my eyes shut."I will see you later," I said without turning back to look at her.Damian's POV As I watched my men restrain the captive, I felt a surge of frustration. The man before me is a potential threat to my underground Empire and I knew he was sent by an enemy. I ran both legal and illegal business. "Is he still refusing to talk?" I asked my voice tight with tension. "Yes, Don," Landon, my most trusted bodyguard replied, his eyes avoiding direct contact with mine. "He keeps insisting he doesn't know anything." My mind raced with possibilities. I had built this empire on a foundation of trust and loyalty, but sometimes, extreme measures were necessary to maintain control. This was one of those times. "Landon," I called, my voice carrying a mix of authority and underlying threat. Landon swallowed nervously, understanding the implications of the upcoming conversation. "Yes, Don," he replied, his voice barely above a whisper. "Remove his fingers, hit him more to the point of death and he begs to spare his life," I instructed, my tone firm and unwavering
Gianni's POV I arrived at Professor Lisa's home and she was outside to welcome me. "Good evening ma'am," I greeted politely. "Come in, thanks for coming all the way here tonight," we entered the house as she led the way upstairs and I followed behind we got to her room, and she sat down and arranged her makeup. "It's no problem ma, after all, it's work," I flashed a polite smile. "The kids are watching TV in the children's playroom and don't forget the kids are allergic, just prepare dinner and breakfast, in the morning get them ready for school and the driver will take them to school, yes it's just you and the kids at home, their dad isn't at home, I don't know when he will be back and I'm going out now," professor Lisa explained while arranging her makeup. "Do I look good?" She asked and I nodded my head in response with a smile on my face, "I'm leaving now, make sure to use only my room." I followed her downstairs and saw her off to her car before entering her house and
Gianni POV My tranquility was abruptly shattered when a sudden sound of gunshots echoed through the night. Instinctively, I stopped in my tracks, my heart pounding in my chest. I swiftly removed the headset from my ears, wanting to confirm that what I had heard was indeed gunfire. The sounds intensified, and Fear and adrenaline coursed through my veins. My instincts kicked in, urging me to find a safe place and I quickly scanned my surroundings, searching for any place to hide As I sought refuge from the chaos outside, I hurriedly entered an uncompleted building nearby, seeking shelter and safety. Unknowingly to me, this building was the location where the shooting was taking place. I pressed myself against the wall, my back flat against the cold surface, desperately trying to steady my trembling body. Beads of sweat formed on my forehead, trickling down my face as fear gripped me. My heart raced in my chest, threatening to give away my presence with its erratic beats. I focused
Gianni's POV I sent Arabella to call Louis the moment his car parked in the compound while I continued applying pressure on this man's wound with the help of Luna. "What is taking them long?" I complained to Luna who was cleaning the stranger's blood. "Gianni," Louis opened the door looking disoriented, the moment he saw me, relief washed over his face. "Thank goodness you are alright, I was scared as fuck when Arabella came downstairs," Louis put his hands on his chest before his eyes went to the motionless man on the couch, "Who is he? Did Luna do this?" Louis has always suspected that Luna has it in her to kill someone and I don't know why that was the first thing that came to his mind. "Really?" Luna rolled her eyes, her reaction showed she wanted to hit him but couldn't. "Gianni, who is he and what happened? How did he even get here in the first place?" A concerned Louis asked as he checked if the man was still breathing. "He is one of the godfathers I served the d
Gianni's POV The cops didn't come for us that day, they came because someone had called concerning some noise from the lower unit and I couldn't be more happy. I changed the channel continuously searching for any news of the unconscious man but there was nothing, Louis didn't want to get involved because of his father. "Still searching?" Luna opened a can of beer and handed it to me. I took it from her hands and drank it, "That hit the right spot," I finished it in a go. "No news," Luna drank out from her can of beer. "Nothing and Louis doesn't want to get involved except for treating him, it's been two weeks and he hasn't opened his eyes," I took a deep breath. "How come no one is looking for him?" Luna raised her eyebrows. "They are, maybe we haven't just seen," Arabella said when she entered the living room, she took the TV remote and began checking each channel. "Stop! Go back," I yelled the moment my eyes caught something and Arabella obeyed without complaining. It was L
Gianni's POV I stood at the front of the dressing mirror in one of the biggest, most luxurious, and most expensive wedding dress boutiques in LA. I looked at the wedding contract in my hands as the madam of the boutique used pins to hold the white veil to my hair. Today I was going to be married to a man I do not love and a man I have never seen. What if he is crippled? What if he is an abuser? What If he is a monster? Tears slid down my eyes as my mind wandered back to the day that brought me to today. ********* "Gianni, are you okay?" Luna asked as I was about to rush to the hospital. "It's Zion, the hospital called," I couldn't explain and rushed out, Luna followed behind till we got to the hospital. When we both arrived at the hospital, I ran to the doctor's office, "What's wrong with Zion?" I cried out. "Miss Gianni, I would appreciate it if you could calm down, Zion's condition worsened overnight and he needs a neurosurgeon right now," the doctor explained. "A neurosurge
Gianni's POV Why was the stranger I saved walking to the altar and Landon was behind him? "Sorry I'm late and don't mind the blood," Damian apologized to the priest before he glared at me. My jaw dropped slightly as my eyes widened in surprise under my veil, the stranger I had saved that night was Professor Lisa's son and I am marrying Landon's boss right now!! "Sure," the priest began to conduct the wedding ceremony. "We signed our vows already so there is no need to say it and please do not say kiss your Bride," Damian smiled at the priest and he gulped. I wondered why the priest was so damn quiet listening to every single word Damian said, I could see fear in his eyes and his hands were trembling as he spoke. My eyes landed on the glass table on the altar and from the reflection I could see an assassin on the rooftop aiming its gun at me. Why me? Or was it the priest? Or could it be Damian? I couldn't care less if it was either Damian or me. At least I will be free. The pri
Damian's POV I stood in front of the mirror as Landon adjusted my tie, getting me ready for the wedding. I only knew the woman I was getting married to was a golddigger, she was marrying me because of my money, at least she should take care of my children with the money. My mind wandered off to the day I received the news about my wedding. ******** "Damian! Damian!" Mother called out as she ran downstairs in excitement. "I'm here," I managed to say as I sat up on the couch. "I found a wife for you," the color on my face drained. "What? How?" My voice barely whispers. "The kids' nanny, they are very fond of her so it will work and I can vouch for her, she is my best student," mom giggled like a little child. "Does she know about me? What is in it for her?" I couldn't understand why a lady would want to marry someone she didn't love. "Definitely, she will be your wife in return I have to save her family," I burst into laughter. She marrying me for money, what could I expect, a
Gianni's POVI pushed him away from myself, who gave him the right to do that, I was about to scold his actions when he said, “That's me showing you I have the right to your personal affairs, I don't care what you do but you should only do it when you leave this marriage.”I couldn't say anything as I became speechless, I bit my lips and wheeled the chair to my room. What was that about? Why did he do that? Why did he even kiss me?“Why didn't you say anything?” Luna slammed the door behind her as she entered my room.“I … I … I .. Don't know, I … mean. … I was .. I.. couldn't think, Luna I couldn't think clearly, I mean how could I let him kiss me and I did nothing about it,” I was surprised by my own behavior.“I hope you aren't one of those girls who falls in love with their bully?” Luna raised her eyebrows.“Love? I don't love him, whatever happened just happened because he wanted to prove his stupid right,” I hurriedly defended myself.“Even if you fall in love with him, you have
Gianni's POVI was shocked, “Why didn't you explain that he got it wrong? Louis, why didn't you say anything?”Where did such thought come from? Why did he think we were having an affair? I know I didn't owe him any explanation but, he shouldn't think about me like that.“I …I… I'm surprised too, where did he get such a narrative from?” Louis said, completely dumbfounded. Damian must have been at the hospital that night I drove off with his car, he must have seen when Louis kissed me, even Landon said the same thing when he didn't know I was Damian's wife.“It doesn't matter, let's attend classes,” I gave Louis a small smile and he wheeled me to the lecture hall.My mind was in any of the classes I attended, I was scared, I didn't want Damian to tell Professor Lisa about what he saw that night, my brother's life still depended on this marriage.“I won't be attending today's practical class,” I said and began arranging my bag.“Yes, it's true, you aren't supposed to be in school, I wi
Gianni's POV“Not now, I'm sleeping,” Damian said with his eyes wide open.“I just wanted to know so that I would be_”"Go to sleep," Damian got up from the chair, took his pillow and blanket from the couch, turned off the light, and left the room. What was his deal? Why was he pissed? I was just trying to know about his late wife, I didn't want to know about them from his children, Lisa, or the workers in the house. I rolled my eyes and used the blanket to cover my face.********"How did yesterday night go?" Luna wiggled her eyes at the breakfast table."It went like every other night," I smiled at her, the smile dropped when I remembered how Damian left the room at night just because I asked about his late wife."What's wrong?" Luna touched my face gently."I asked him about Sheila and he got angry," I relaxed my shoulders."He hasn't let go of the past yet, I hope you will be patient and teach him how to let go," Lisa entered the kitchen, she said as she took out milk from the fri
Gianni's POV"You really do what?" Damian asked again, now I could tell he didn't hear anything."Don Damian," Landon stood up straight in front of Damian."What are you doing outside this late? I was looking for you," Damian questioned Landon."I was taking an evening stroll with Mrs Salvatore," Landon responded politely."Mrs Salvatore?" Damian scoffed, "Move me and her things to the room downstairs, Mother instructed it.""I tried to stop Mrs Lisa but she didn't want to listen," Luna placed her hand on my shoulder."It's okay, it's inevitable," I gave her a small smile, "Can you take me to my room?""Sure," Luna wheeled the chair to my room, "Does Landon like you?" Luna stopped the chair at the entrance of my room door."I don't understand what you are saying?" Luna came to my front."I heard him but Damian didn't hear, look I know he is your husband but you have to make him suffer for this few days," Luna changing the topic suddenly surprised me."Huh?" Confusion set in on my mind
Gianni's POV Landon stared at me in disbelief, he had so much to say from the looks he gave me but he couldn't say anything. "Sir, I made sure they took care of the factory," Landon focused his attention on Damian. "Are you dumb? Can't you see I'm talking to my son," Lisa glared at Landon. "I'm sorry ma'am," Landon backed away. "Destroying evidence are we now?" Luna raised her eyebrows questioning Damian, "I will make sure you pay for what you did." Lisa ignored everyone and asked her questions, "Was this how I raised you? Was this what your father taught you about this business?" "I'm sorry," Damian lowered his gaze. "Don't be sorry! Was this the way you treated Sheila?" Damian's head snapped up at Lisa's question. "She is not my Sheila, she is different, Sheila would have never accepted money and properties to be with me but she_" Before Damian could finish talking, Louis launched his fist on Damian's jaw. "I see you like throwing punches," Damian touched his jaw, he rolled
Gianni's POV I came down from the bed slowly so I wouldn't wake Arabella up, "Mummy, Daddy, Zion," I called out to my parents and brother when I couldn't find them in their room. "Baby don't come downstairs, stay in your room and lock the door," my mother yelled from the living room, I didn't listen. "Fuck, I told her to say upstairs," Zion muttered under his breath. As I came down the stairs, I heard strange music being played, such music had never been played in the house. I followed the sound of the music as I enjoyed it and the sound of the music led me to the living room where my family was tied. I saw Mom and Dad tied up with tapes and kneeling on the floor, while Zion was tied to the fan, there was blood everywhere and some men were holding guns to their heads. "Mummy, Daddy, Zion," I ran up to them as fear gripped me, and tried to lose the tape with my Small hands. "Hello little angel," a young man picked me up into his arms and sat on the couch. "Mummy," I cried, reac
Gianni's POV My heart skipped when I saw the save me text from Luna, I dialed her number again and it was switched off this time around. My phone fell from my hands, I picked it up and dialed Louis's number and at the last ring he picked up. "Louis, something isn't right," I said to Louis over the phone. "Yes, what is it?" Louis sounded busy. "Luna, Luna is_" I paused when I saw Luna's call at the top of the screen, "I will talk to you later." "Sure," Louis ended the call and I picked up Luna's video call. "You scared me for crying out loud, I thought_" I paused, she wasn't the one that called, Luna's hands were tied to the ceiling, she was unconscious and her dress was soaked with water and her blood all over her face. I placed my hand over my chest, I tried to ignore the deja Vu, it was the same scene I had witnessed 12 years ago, only it was worse. "Who are you? Why are you doing this!" I yelled over the phone. "Won't you come save her?" A female said from behind the phon
Gianni's POV I watched Damian leave the hall with his escort, I held Luna on her shoulders, "Why did you do that?" "Are you defending your husband? Can't you see he didn't respect you?" Luna brushed my hands off her shoulder, "We both know the truth about the marriage so there is no need to pretend like you care,"Luna muttered under her breath. "We both know it's not like that," I turned to Louis, "You know him more than I do, you are his cousin but you should have stopped Luna knowing what kind of person he is." "Luna, Gianni has a point, I don't really know much about him but that man is dangerous, you shouldn't have done that," Louis swiped his hands through his hair. "Who is Sheila?" Arabella waited for everyone to finish talking before she asked. "She is just his past," Professor Lisa said from behind, "Gianni, I'm very sorry for what happened, I will make sure you get another respectful dinner." "Why did you give me that dress if you already knew about it?" I asked
Gianni's POVAs I drew closer, I realized Damian was having a panic attack, he squeezed on his chest tightly and fell on the floor. People gathered around him, everyone seemed confused, "He needs space! He needs to breathe!" Landon yelled as he raised Damian, the other bodyguards cleared the road."What's going on with him?" I rushed to both Damian and Landon."I don't know, help me out," Landon instructed, I was about to place Damian's hands across my shoulder, but he used his hands to push me away from me.Damian held his chest, he squeezed his face as a drop of tears rolled down his eyes, his chest heaving up and down heavily. I wanted to help him as a medical student but he wasn't letting me, I stood in confusion not knowing what to do when Professor Lisa stepped in front of me, blocking Damian from seeing me. Damian was able to calm down, but I couldn't tell if he was calm because his mom was there or because his mom covered his view of seeing me. Damian brushed Landon's should
