Gianni's POV
I finished paying for the things I bought at the supermarket. The black sedan was still outside so I hurriedly dialed Louis' phone number. Louis is my coursemate, friend, and next-door neighbor, and my love interest.I knew the black sedan wasn't going to hurt me but I still needed someone by my side"Why didn't you pick up on time?" I asked over the phone anxiously"Hey, young lady, I was quite busy you know but anyway what's up?" he complained over the phone, I could hear a female voice in the background."Louis, I need you to come and pick me up right away," I said, my voice filled with urgency.Louis sounded surprised at the urgency in my voice."What's wrong? Are you okay?" he asked, concern evident in his tone."I'm being followed by the same sedan and it's parked outside the supermarket right now," I explained, trying to keep my composure, not because I was scared but because my life was falling apart."For real, he was mad to follow a crazy girl" Louis laughed on the other side of the phone."Louis, listen, I'm serious, I am not joking," I explained calmly on the phone."Stay where you are and share your location with me. I'm on my way," he replied, his voice steady and reassuring."Okay." I nodded my head despite the fact he could see me.As I waited for Louis to arrive, my mind raced with various scenarios.Who could be following me, and why, what does this person want?Minutes later, Louis's car pulled up, and I quickly hopped in, grateful for his timely arrival. I relayed my concerns about the black sedan, and we both kept a close eye on it as we drove away."Don't you think it's high time I get you security?" Louis asked about feelings concerned."I'm okay don't worry," I forced a smile on my face."What are your plans for the anniversary?" Louis changed the topic and I felt grateful for it."Just watch TV with you all and eat, that will be enough and I lost one of my jobs today" I stared into the stars trying to hold the tears threatening to fall from my eyes, I felt Louis' hands give me a light squeeze."Ok then we will figure it out tomorrow but first let's deal with today," Louis smiled and I returned it.When we arrived at my apartment, I opened the door and was greeted by Luna arranging the dining table.I dropped my bags on the chair and went to check what Luna was setting on the table while Louis sat on the couch and Luna hugged me."Haven't seen you in a long time," Louis threw the cushion at Luna and she caught and threw it back."You know where I live so what was stopping you?" Luna raised her eyebrows while I opened the dishes one by one and I must say they all look nice."Medical school, I'm sure you wouldn't get that since you are studying literature," a smirk appeared on Louis's face."Law not literature you dimwit," Luna sneered and playful smacked Louis on his head."Where is Arabella?" I hadn't heard her voice since I got back so I felt concerned."I'm here," Arabella said when she entered the living room."How is my pumpkin doing? How were your dance lessons today?" Louis greeted Arabella, she hugged him, and sat beside him.Louis paid for Arabella's dance lessons recently and I'm grateful for that but I can't continue to accept things from him if I want our relationship to take a step forward."I'm fine but why are you here and how come both you and Gianni arrived together?" A curious Arabella asked."Hmmmm, your sister was scared and called me to pick her up," Louis pointed at me and made a funny face making everyone laugh."Let's have dinner first then we can play games then Gianni can tell us stories about Mom and Dad," Arabella suggested while avoiding eye contact with me."Sounds nice," I nodded my head and a small smile played on my lips.*****"Arabella next time make the food, Luna doesn't know how to cook," Louis pretended to gag."What's wrong now?" Luna dropped her spoon."Too much salt," Louis used his hands to fan himself, Louis enjoys playing around with Luna."Are you okay?" Luna asked and everyone's attention fell on me awaiting an answer.I contemplated telling everyone what was on my mind but I didn't want to spoil it on this day and just in time my phone beeped and it was a message."I have to leave, I have work to do," I cleaned my mouth and stood up from the dining table."Where are you off to at this time of the night?" Louis asked concern written all over his face."Professor Lisa asked me to babysit for her son tonight," I explained to everyone.Professor Lisa is one of my lecturers in school, she holds a very high position, when she came to know of my financial situation she offered to help by paying me for my babysitting her grandchildren."Now?" Luna raised her eyebrows."I will be back by tomorrow in time for class," I assured and was about to leave when Arabella stopped me."Again, are you going to leave on this day just for money?" Arabella balled her hands into a fist."Arabella please, you have to understand," I pleaded with my eyes."That what? This is the only way we can feel closer to our parents and you," Arabella questioned and I could see hatred in her eyes for me."Arabella let your sister go," Louis instructed and Arabella kept quiet, like she always listens to Louis, "if you need me to pick you up let me know," Louis added.I rushed to my room to arrange the things I would be needing when a necklace fell out of my wardrobe, I picked it up from the floor and held it tight in my hands as tears rolled down my cheeks. This was the necklace of the person who murdered my family in cold blood, I was going to find and destroy that person.I quickly threw the necklace inside the wardrobe when I heard the door to my room open."Are you okay?" Luna asked and entered the room."Yes, yes I am," I shut the wardrobe, "Arabella hates me right?" I tucked my hair behind my ears."I don't think she does, I feel she is just angry at everything you are going through for a person she barely knows," Luna tried to make me understand."I understand, can you take care of her while I'm gone tonight and make our parents' anniversary a memorable one?" I took Luna's hands in mine."Sure, I and Louis would," Luna smiled."Thanks, I trust you, you know right," I packed up my bag to leave."Have you decided to cut his, I mean your brother's life support before the next payment date?" Luna asked me a question even I didn't want to ask myself and I bit the inside of my mouth and closed my eyes shut."I will see you later," I said without turning back to look at her.Damian's POV As I watched my men restrain the captive, I felt a surge of frustration. The man before me is a potential threat to my underground Empire and I knew he was sent by an enemy. I ran both legal and illegal business. "Is he still refusing to talk?" I asked my voice tight with tension. "Yes, Don," Landon, my most trusted bodyguard replied, his eyes avoiding direct contact with mine. "He keeps insisting he doesn't know anything." My mind raced with possibilities. I had built this empire on a foundation of trust and loyalty, but sometimes, extreme measures were necessary to maintain control. This was one of those times. "Landon," I called, my voice carrying a mix of authority and underlying threat. Landon swallowed nervously, understanding the implications of the upcoming conversation. "Yes, Don," he replied, his voice barely above a whisper. "Remove his fingers, hit him more to the point of death and he begs to spare his life," I instructed, my tone firm and unwavering
Gianni's POV I arrived at Professor Lisa's home and she was outside to welcome me. "Good evening ma'am," I greeted politely. "Come in, thanks for coming all the way here tonight," we entered the house as she led the way upstairs and I followed behind we got to her room, and she sat down and arranged her makeup. "It's no problem ma, after all, it's work," I flashed a polite smile. "The kids are watching TV in the children's playroom and don't forget the kids are allergic, just prepare dinner and breakfast, in the morning get them ready for school and the driver will take them to school, yes it's just you and the kids at home, their dad isn't at home, I don't know when he will be back and I'm going out now," professor Lisa explained while arranging her makeup. "Do I look good?" She asked and I nodded my head in response with a smile on my face, "I'm leaving now, make sure to use only my room." I followed her downstairs and saw her off to her car before entering her house and
Gianni POV My tranquility was abruptly shattered when a sudden sound of gunshots echoed through the night. Instinctively, I stopped in my tracks, my heart pounding in my chest. I swiftly removed the headset from my ears, wanting to confirm that what I had heard was indeed gunfire. The sounds intensified, and Fear and adrenaline coursed through my veins. My instincts kicked in, urging me to find a safe place and I quickly scanned my surroundings, searching for any place to hide As I sought refuge from the chaos outside, I hurriedly entered an uncompleted building nearby, seeking shelter and safety. Unknowingly to me, this building was the location where the shooting was taking place. I pressed myself against the wall, my back flat against the cold surface, desperately trying to steady my trembling body. Beads of sweat formed on my forehead, trickling down my face as fear gripped me. My heart raced in my chest, threatening to give away my presence with its erratic beats. I focused
Gianni's POV I sent Arabella to call Louis the moment his car parked in the compound while I continued applying pressure on this man's wound with the help of Luna. "What is taking them long?" I complained to Luna who was cleaning the stranger's blood. "Gianni," Louis opened the door looking disoriented, the moment he saw me, relief washed over his face. "Thank goodness you are alright, I was scared as fuck when Arabella came downstairs," Louis put his hands on his chest before his eyes went to the motionless man on the couch, "Who is he? Did Luna do this?" Louis has always suspected that Luna has it in her to kill someone and I don't know why that was the first thing that came to his mind. "Really?" Luna rolled her eyes, her reaction showed she wanted to hit him but couldn't. "Gianni, who is he and what happened? How did he even get here in the first place?" A concerned Louis asked as he checked if the man was still breathing. "He is one of the godfathers I served the d
Gianni's POV The cops didn't come for us that day, they came because someone had called concerning some noise from the lower unit and I couldn't be more happy. I changed the channel continuously searching for any news of the unconscious man but there was nothing, Louis didn't want to get involved because of his father. "Still searching?" Luna opened a can of beer and handed it to me. I took it from her hands and drank it, "That hit the right spot," I finished it in a go. "No news," Luna drank out from her can of beer. "Nothing and Louis doesn't want to get involved except for treating him, it's been two weeks and he hasn't opened his eyes," I took a deep breath. "How come no one is looking for him?" Luna raised her eyebrows. "They are, maybe we haven't just seen," Arabella said when she entered the living room, she took the TV remote and began checking each channel. "Stop! Go back," I yelled the moment my eyes caught something and Arabella obeyed without complaining. It was L
Gianni's POV I stood at the front of the dressing mirror in one of the biggest, most luxurious, and most expensive wedding dress boutiques in LA. I looked at the wedding contract in my hands as the madam of the boutique used pins to hold the white veil to my hair. Today I was going to be married to a man I do not love and a man I have never seen. What if he is crippled? What if he is an abuser? What If he is a monster? Tears slid down my eyes as my mind wandered back to the day that brought me to today. ********* "Gianni, are you okay?" Luna asked as I was about to rush to the hospital. "It's Zion, the hospital called," I couldn't explain and rushed out, Luna followed behind till we got to the hospital. When we both arrived at the hospital, I ran to the doctor's office, "What's wrong with Zion?" I cried out. "Miss Gianni, I would appreciate it if you could calm down, Zion's condition worsened overnight and he needs a neurosurgeon right now," the doctor explained. "A neurosurge
Gianni's POV Why was the stranger I saved walking to the altar and Landon was behind him? "Sorry I'm late and don't mind the blood," Damian apologized to the priest before he glared at me. My jaw dropped slightly as my eyes widened in surprise under my veil, the stranger I had saved that night was Professor Lisa's son and I am marrying Landon's boss right now!! "Sure," the priest began to conduct the wedding ceremony. "We signed our vows already so there is no need to say it and please do not say kiss your Bride," Damian smiled at the priest and he gulped. I wondered why the priest was so damn quiet listening to every single word Damian said, I could see fear in his eyes and his hands were trembling as he spoke. My eyes landed on the glass table on the altar and from the reflection I could see an assassin on the rooftop aiming its gun at me. Why me? Or was it the priest? Or could it be Damian? I couldn't care less if it was either Damian or me. At least I will be free. The pri
Damian's POV I stood in front of the mirror as Landon adjusted my tie, getting me ready for the wedding. I only knew the woman I was getting married to was a golddigger, she was marrying me because of my money, at least she should take care of my children with the money. My mind wandered off to the day I received the news about my wedding. ******** "Damian! Damian!" Mother called out as she ran downstairs in excitement. "I'm here," I managed to say as I sat up on the couch. "I found a wife for you," the color on my face drained. "What? How?" My voice barely whispers. "The kids' nanny, they are very fond of her so it will work and I can vouch for her, she is my best student," mom giggled like a little child. "Does she know about me? What is in it for her?" I couldn't understand why a lady would want to marry someone she didn't love. "Definitely, she will be your wife in return I have to save her family," I burst into laughter. She marrying me for money, what could I expect, a
Gianni's POVMy head snapped towards Zion when I heard the name “Sheila” It felt like my world had stopped. How did he know that name? “Zion!” Luna screamed at the top of her lungs, she looked terrified, I followed her eyes and my attention fell on the heart monitor which was showing a thin line.“Zi…Zion,” I screamed as Luna held me in her arms. My heart raced with fear. I was a medical student, but right now, I didn't have the courage to help him.“It's cardiac arrest; I will get the doctor,” Louis ran out to get the doctor, and Damian jumped on the bed and started giving Zion CPR.I couldn't dare look, I was scared, what type of test is that? Zion was perfectly fine then what went wrong?I opened my eyes when I heard the heart monitor turn on and I let out a breath of relief.“Thank you doctor Damian,” one of the doctors said and did a checkup on Zion.“Damian is a doctor?” Luna asked and I nodded my head.“Doctor, what happened?” I wanted to know the situation.“Mr Zion was a bit
Gianni's POV“You seemed troubled,” Louis handed me an ice cream and I took it from his hand.“Didn't that woman look familiar?” I questioned as I licked the ice cream.“That woman? She looked like Sheila,” Louis licked his ice cream and he didn't seem interested in the conversation.“You could tell too,” I snapped my finger in his face, bringing his attention to the conversation.“Yes, I feel like she is trouble, but I don't know how,” Louis turned to face me, “Stay away from her; I don't trust anyone who looks like that woman, Sheila.”So I wasn't the only one who felt a storm was coming.“Let me drop you off at home,” Louis opened the door and I entered the car, “Like the old days,” he smiled as he turned on a Niall Horan song. The drive to my house was quiet. I don't know why Louis was quiet, as he was usually talkative, but I was trying to make sure that the woman and Damian didn't cross paths.“You should let go, I will make sure my family works her transfer before the end of th
Gianni's POV “You…you let him in?!!” Professor Lisa yelled. “He locked the main door so I can't get in,” Landon answered as his gaze was still lowered. “Have someone take Selena and Francis to their room and get me the keys to the torture room,” Professor said as she paced the room. I could tell she was scared. I knew the word torture room didn't sit right but how bad could it be? “Mrs. Lisa, the door is locked from the inside; that's why I'm unable to do anything,” Landon answered. “Do I have to tell you everything? Break the door before I get there,” I stood up to follow Professor Lisa, “I don't think it's right for you to go there.” “Heaven knows who he is torturing right now,” Professor Lisa muttered under her breath, but I heard it. “What if he is torturing himself?” Luna chipped in, and Professor Lisa's face turned pale. Professor Lisa ran out of the living room and we followed behind her. I was scared as they were trying to break the door. What if he hurt hims
Gianni's POVI played with Damian's hair while he was sleeping, he looked peaceful. I didn't go to sleep out of excitement. I don't even know why I was excited, but since Damian fell asleep, everything kept replaying in my head, and it made me blush.“Good morning,” I said with a shy smile on my face when Damian opened his eyes.I was expecting him to smile or something but he didn't, his eyes fell on the clothes which were on the floor, he looked around the room till his eyes fell on me. “Are you okay?” he moved when I was about to touch him and my hand paused mid air.He looked at me with disgust and anger, “Damnit,” he stood up from the bed, picked his clothes from the floor, wore them, and walked out of the room. What was wrong with him? Why the fuck did he react like that?I felt hurt, but I tried to ignore the situation. I entered the bathroom to freshen up, and when I came out, I met Damian, arranging his things back into his luggage.“Where are you going?” I asked calmly. I d
Gianni's POVI stood Frozen waiting for Damian to say anything, “Is there a problem?” I let out a breath of relief when Damian asked.Thank goodness, he didn't hear the voice. Landon's eyes fell on me, and I could tell he heard the voice, “Nothing, sir, I thought Mrs Salvatore had called me.”“Well, she didn't,” Damian looked at his watch, “Please wait right here with Gianni. I want to use the restroom,” Damian instructed and left us.“Why did you stop?” I asked Landon who looked disrupted while searching for someone with his eyes.“Huh?” Landon raised his eyebrows, “I heard someone's voice I shouldn't have heard, my mind is playing tricks on me.”“Sheila's voice?” I asked.“Yes, that,” Landon paused, “You have never heard her speak, so how did you know it was her voice.”“Now do you understand that I actually saw someone who looks and sounds like Damian's ex wife?” At least someone knows it too.“We must have heard wrong,” Landon said, it felt like he was trying to convince himself,
Gianni's POV“Why are you here?” I asked as I strolled through the Vaitape village market. It was a beautiful place; there was jewelry, clothes, and so many other beautiful shops.“Last night, I asked you not to bring up Sheila's name with Damian, then why did you do it?” Landon asked from behind me.“Did he tell you?” I tried an earring on, “Does it fit me?”Landon nodded his head, “No, he didn't but his reaction gave away the conversation.”“I will take this,” I smiled at the seller and paid.“You shouldn't have,” Landon muttered.“He is my husband and I have the right to talk to him about anything I want to,” I said calmly, trying not to bring any attention to us.“I told you you shouldn't have that conversation with him; then why did you do it?” I stopped when Landon questioned furiously.“Excuse me?” I was surprised, why the fuck was he angry?“Gianni, you don't know what it means to lose a loved one in front of your eyes; you don't know the feelings of opening old wounds. I plea
Gianni's POVLandon burst into laughter, “Sheila? A twin? Never, she was the only child of her family and why are we talking about her now?”“Not to sound crazy or anything, but I saw someone who looked like her,” I waited for Landon's reaction and he looked at me like I was crazy.“That's the most impossible thing; Maybe you saw someone who looked like her, but seeing her? That's impossible,” Landon said, shaking his head.“But…”“Sheila was pregnant, they said it was Damian's child,” Landon scoffed, “She had some complication that night so Damian had to rush her to the hospital, she wanted water so he got down from the car to get water but when he returned, the car was no longer there and people were gathering at the edge of the cliff.”“What Happened?” My curious ass asked as I was invested. Damian never agreed to tell me anything about Sheila or how she died.“A truck had hit Damian's car with Sheila inside, both Damian's car and the truck fell off the cliff, their body and the ca
Gianni's POVWe arrived at Bora Bora, French Polynesia for the honeymoon. Mrs Lisa booked the resort and it's the most beautiful place I have ever seen.I had never been outside LA, but this was a beautiful experience; I would never trade.“Do you like it?” Damian asked when he saw the smile on my face.“Yes, it's beautiful,” I smiled as I looked around. The receptionist opened the door to our Overwater bungalows, I hurriedly entered the room to see what it was like. The room was decorated with flowers, it was spacious, and had only one bed. I know for a fact that Damian didn't plan one bed.“Is there another room? Or a room with two beds?” I heard Damian ask and that made me sure he wasn't aware of the room from the beginning.“This room was reserved under your name,” The woman was trying to be professional, “I'm sorry sir, there is no other vacant room at the moment but when there is one, I will be sure to let you know,” she said when she realized Damian wasn't having it and left.
Gianni's POV Sheila? He called his wife's name, I shouldn't let it affect me but then again, I didn't have the right to be angry, after all, I'm just the kids nanny and he was drunk. I didn't run after him; I entered the bathroom and brushed the alcohol away from my mouth and his fingerprint from my body. I tried my best not to say or think anything; I just went to bed, but what happened played the whole night in my head till I slept off. ********* I was worried; it was 9 in the morning, and Damian wasn't back; I wasn't worried because I cared or something; I was worried because he was drunk when he left the house yesterday. “Gianni, the head of the department has agreed to let you rewrite the exam, so prepare for it,” Professor Lisa informed me, and I smiled. “Thank you,” I was happy, at least I will pass my exams. “Sometimes we just need to be strict for everything to go well, one day everyone will find out that you are my daughter in-law then people will say a lot, I hope y
