Gianni's POV
I arrived at Professor Lisa's home and she was outside to welcome me. "Good evening ma'am," I greeted politely. "Come in, thanks for coming all the way here tonight," we entered the house as she led the way upstairs and I followed behind we got to her room, and she sat down and arranged her makeup. "It's no problem ma, after all, it's work," I flashed a polite smile. "The kids are watching TV in the children's playroom and don't forget the kids are allergic, just prepare dinner and breakfast, in the morning get them ready for school and the driver will take them to school, yes it's just you and the kids at home, their dad isn't at home, I don't know when he will be back and I'm going out now," professor Lisa explained while arranging her makeup. "Do I look good?" She asked and I nodded my head in response with a smile on my face, "I'm leaving now, make sure to use only my room." I followed her downstairs and saw her off to her car before entering her house and locking the door. "Francis! Selena!" I called out as I walked to the children's playroom. Francis is the younger child and he is 9 while Selena is older and she is 14 years old, these kids are cute but the devil themselves. "It's bedtime," I announced the moment I opened the door. "Aunty Gianni," the kids ran to hug me and I hugged them back. "How are my babies," I pecked them as they giggled. ******** The kids were sitting on the kitchen island playing with toys while I made their favorite cookies when I suddenly heard footsteps coming down the stairs. "Kids, is there anyone except us in this house right now?" Professor Lisa said it was just the I and the kids in the house but I asked the kids to make sure. "No It's just us," Selena answered and continued playing with Francis. "Okay, Selena stay with Francis and don't come out," I picked up the kitchen knife and walked slowly to the stairs. I stood by the edge of the stairs, picked up a vase, and hit the head of the person, he turned with his hands on his head. "Who the fuck?" He pressed on his head as blood rolled down his face. His eyes darted from my face to the table behind me and I followed his gaze to realize he was looking at the knife behind me. I hurriedly picked up the knife but the man was fast. He dragged the knife from my hands and pushed me to the floor. I used my legs to hit him but he caught my legs between his hands. In a swift moment, he used my hand to pin mine and used his other hand to place the knife under my throat, I could feel the sharp metal cut into my skin, I felt this was the moment I was going to die. "Aunty Gianni?" I heard Francis call me, I couldn't put these kids at risk. "Aunty Gianni?" The man who had me pinned against the ground was in confusion and I saw the opportunity to get away from him so I spat into his eyes when he was distracted, the moment he let go of my hands I raised my head and knocked his head with mine. "Uncle Landon?" Francis called out innocently and ran to hug him while I stared in surprise. "Really? Uncle Landon? You could have said that earlier," I hit my hand against my forehead and winked in pain. "That must hurt a lot, how would you knock a man on his head and expect not to feel pain," I could hear the amusement in Landon's voice. I looked at the Landon guy and he looked familiar, I know I had seen him but I couldn't remember where I had seen him. "Selena, what's cooking?" Landon picked Francis from the floor into his arms. "Aunty Gianni is baking," Selena pointed at me. "Aunty Gianni, what's baking?" Landon smirked. "You almost killed me," I pointed at the spot on my neck. "You almost killed me too," Landon pointed at his head. I walked upstairs leaving everyone in the living room to get the first aid kit from Professor Lisa's room and I came back downstairs to see the munching on baked cookies in the living room. "They were almost burnt," Landon raised his hands in defense. I walked closer to him and started the first aid treatment, "Wait! Are you a doctor or something?" Landon asked when I administered an injection to him. "A student doctor, professor Lisa's student," I answered and still gave him the injection. After eating the cookies, I put the kids to sleep while Landon and I sat and gossiped the whole night, funny enough we clicked right away. ******** Before I woke up, Landon had already prepared the kids for school and I woke up in a room I haven't slept in before. Psstt," I heard Louis calling from his seat. I turned to face him, a sense of weariness evident in my eyes. "What?" I whispered back, my voice barely audible in the hushed classroom. "Let's grab lunch after Mrs. Scarlett's class," Louis suggested, his voice filled with a tinge of excitement. Today, we were tasked with the dissection of dead bodies in our anatomy class, an experience that had left an indelible mark on my psyche. "No thank you, Louis, I won't be able to eat after this," I finally replied, my voice laden with exhaustion. The images of the dissected bodies lingered in my mind, their lifeless forms etched into my memory I couldn't help but wonder about the lives these bodies had once led, the stories they carried within them. "One day, we would also be like that," I said, speaking softly to myself. "Really, you want to be used for practical anatomy?" Louis asked out loud, his voice bringing unnecessary attention to us. I smacked him on the back "You fool that isn't what am saying" Mrs. Scarlett, our stern but knowledgeable anatomy professor paused, looked at us then continued her lecture, oblivious to the emotional turmoil brewing within us. Finally, the class came to an end, and we gathered our belongings, ready to move on from the haunting experience. As I packed my bag, I couldn't shake off the feeling of unease that had settled deep within me. Louis, always the optimistic one, tried to lighten the mood. "Gianni baby, let's go watch some comedy to relax our minds," Louis suggested. "I appreciate the offer Louis, but I really need to get to the hospital," I replied, my tone laced with a hint of regret and Louis pouted playfully. "Come on, Gianni baby, just one evening to unwind. It'll do wonders for your mood, I promise," I couldn't help but smile at his persistence. "I know you mean well, Louis, but I have to visit my brother, I promise we'll find another time to relax and enjoy ourselves," I explained, my voice firm but appreciative while he grinned, his eyes sparkling with understanding. "Alright, I'll hold you to that promise, Giann," I smiled. "Let me drop you off since it's already getting late," He suggested "Louis, it's okay, you aren't even going in that direction," I said to him. "Doesn't matter, let's go." He held my hands as we walked to his car. As we approached his white sporty Lexus, my eyes couldn't help but be drawn to its sleek design. I had always admired Louis' choice of cars and the way he changed his cars the way he changed his clothes. I climbed into the passenger seat, feeling the comfortable leather embrace me. Louis settled into the driver's seat, a mischievous smile playing on his lips. He turned to me, his eyes gleaming with playful anticipation. "What song do we play?" he asked, knowing well that I had a penchant for catchy tunes. I pondered for a moment, scanning through my mental playlist. Then, with a mischievous grin of my own, I suggested, "How about 'Run' by BTS?" Louis recoiled dramatically, pretending to be appalled. "No way, Gianni! Not in my car," he exclaimed, feigning disgust at my choice of song. I couldn't help but burst into laughter at his exaggerated reaction. I playfully smacked him on the head, enjoying the banter between us. "Come on, it's a great song!" Louis's face contorted into an exaggerated expression of disgust again. "No, No way, those Korean boys," he exclaimed, playfully pretending to gag. I couldn't resist smacking him on the shoulder in response. "They have names, you know. Kim Namjoon, Kim Seokjin, Min Yoongi, Jung Hoseok, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung, Jeon Jungkook," I listed their names, emphasizing each one. Louis rubbed his head with a mock hurt expression. "Alright, alright, I get it. You're a fan," he said, rolling his eyes playfully. I laughed, shaking my head at his antics, "You don't know what you're missing. BTS has some incredible music, and 'Run' is one of their best." He chuckled, conceding defeat. "Fine, fine. For you, I'll tolerate it. But only this once!". I smiled, appreciating his willingness to accommodate my choice. With a satisfied smile, I settled back into my seat as Louis navigated the car onto the road. With a flick of his fingers, the car's sound system came to life and Louis turned on the AC for our comfort. Louis was driving when a message appeared on his car screen, I read it and bit my lips, "Why don't you drop me off here and attend to your matter?" I suggested. "I will drop you off first before I attend to it," Louis continued driving without glancing at me. The message was from Louis' father and I didn't want to stop him from attending to his father. "Please," I pleaded, Louis Park at the side of the road and handed me his credit card. I raised my eyebrows, "this is the only way I can let you go this late." "Okay, thanks," I smiled and came down from the car and waved at him. It was dark and there wasn't any cab on the road so I just decided to walk to the hospital, I plugged in my headset and selected a soothing melody to accompany me when I heard a strange noise.Gianni POV My tranquility was abruptly shattered when a sudden sound of gunshots echoed through the night. Instinctively, I stopped in my tracks, my heart pounding in my chest. I swiftly removed the headset from my ears, wanting to confirm that what I had heard was indeed gunfire. The sounds intensified, and Fear and adrenaline coursed through my veins. My instincts kicked in, urging me to find a safe place and I quickly scanned my surroundings, searching for any place to hide As I sought refuge from the chaos outside, I hurriedly entered an uncompleted building nearby, seeking shelter and safety. Unknowingly to me, this building was the location where the shooting was taking place. I pressed myself against the wall, my back flat against the cold surface, desperately trying to steady my trembling body. Beads of sweat formed on my forehead, trickling down my face as fear gripped me. My heart raced in my chest, threatening to give away my presence with its erratic beats. I focused
Gianni's POV I sent Arabella to call Louis the moment his car parked in the compound while I continued applying pressure on this man's wound with the help of Luna. "What is taking them long?" I complained to Luna who was cleaning the stranger's blood. "Gianni," Louis opened the door looking disoriented, the moment he saw me, relief washed over his face. "Thank goodness you are alright, I was scared as fuck when Arabella came downstairs," Louis put his hands on his chest before his eyes went to the motionless man on the couch, "Who is he? Did Luna do this?" Louis has always suspected that Luna has it in her to kill someone and I don't know why that was the first thing that came to his mind. "Really?" Luna rolled her eyes, her reaction showed she wanted to hit him but couldn't. "Gianni, who is he and what happened? How did he even get here in the first place?" A concerned Louis asked as he checked if the man was still breathing. "He is one of the godfathers I served the d
Gianni's POV The cops didn't come for us that day, they came because someone had called concerning some noise from the lower unit and I couldn't be more happy. I changed the channel continuously searching for any news of the unconscious man but there was nothing, Louis didn't want to get involved because of his father. "Still searching?" Luna opened a can of beer and handed it to me. I took it from her hands and drank it, "That hit the right spot," I finished it in a go. "No news," Luna drank out from her can of beer. "Nothing and Louis doesn't want to get involved except for treating him, it's been two weeks and he hasn't opened his eyes," I took a deep breath. "How come no one is looking for him?" Luna raised her eyebrows. "They are, maybe we haven't just seen," Arabella said when she entered the living room, she took the TV remote and began checking each channel. "Stop! Go back," I yelled the moment my eyes caught something and Arabella obeyed without complaining. It was L
Gianni's POV I stood at the front of the dressing mirror in one of the biggest, most luxurious, and most expensive wedding dress boutiques in LA. I looked at the wedding contract in my hands as the madam of the boutique used pins to hold the white veil to my hair. Today I was going to be married to a man I do not love and a man I have never seen. What if he is crippled? What if he is an abuser? What If he is a monster? Tears slid down my eyes as my mind wandered back to the day that brought me to today. ********* "Gianni, are you okay?" Luna asked as I was about to rush to the hospital. "It's Zion, the hospital called," I couldn't explain and rushed out, Luna followed behind till we got to the hospital. When we both arrived at the hospital, I ran to the doctor's office, "What's wrong with Zion?" I cried out. "Miss Gianni, I would appreciate it if you could calm down, Zion's condition worsened overnight and he needs a neurosurgeon right now," the doctor explained. "A neurosurge
Gianni's POV Why was the stranger I saved walking to the altar and Landon was behind him? "Sorry I'm late and don't mind the blood," Damian apologized to the priest before he glared at me. My jaw dropped slightly as my eyes widened in surprise under my veil, the stranger I had saved that night was Professor Lisa's son and I am marrying Landon's boss right now!! "Sure," the priest began to conduct the wedding ceremony. "We signed our vows already so there is no need to say it and please do not say kiss your Bride," Damian smiled at the priest and he gulped. I wondered why the priest was so damn quiet listening to every single word Damian said, I could see fear in his eyes and his hands were trembling as he spoke. My eyes landed on the glass table on the altar and from the reflection I could see an assassin on the rooftop aiming its gun at me. Why me? Or was it the priest? Or could it be Damian? I couldn't care less if it was either Damian or me. At least I will be free. The pri
Damian's POV I stood in front of the mirror as Landon adjusted my tie, getting me ready for the wedding. I only knew the woman I was getting married to was a golddigger, she was marrying me because of my money, at least she should take care of my children with the money. My mind wandered off to the day I received the news about my wedding. ******** "Damian! Damian!" Mother called out as she ran downstairs in excitement. "I'm here," I managed to say as I sat up on the couch. "I found a wife for you," the color on my face drained. "What? How?" My voice barely whispers. "The kids' nanny, they are very fond of her so it will work and I can vouch for her, she is my best student," mom giggled like a little child. "Does she know about me? What is in it for her?" I couldn't understand why a lady would want to marry someone she didn't love. "Definitely, she will be your wife in return I have to save her family," I burst into laughter. She marrying me for money, what could I expect, a
Gianni's POV I got to the parking lot downstairs, there were so many cars, and confusion flooded my mind as I didn't know which car the key belonged to, I just prayed it was something I could drive. I don't know how to drive very well, I don't have a license, damn I'm done for. I pressed the key and a lemon sports car went on. I didn't have the time to admire its beauty, so I rushed into the car and drove straight to Louis Family Hospital. As much as I was worried about Louis, I was also worried about Selena and Francis, they were alone at home but I guess my heart cared about Louis more. I arrived at the hospital and parked the car in a good spot. The car was difficult to drive, maybe because it was a sports car. I had only driven Louis cars, the truck at where I worked, and a motorcycle. I ran upstairs to the VIP ward, Arabella already informed me of Louis' ward number. I felt someone following behind me but anytime I stopped and looked there was no one around, just me and the
Gianni's POV I returned Damian's sleeve to his closet after dry cleaning it. Damian and I both agreed not to stay in the same room till the marriage comes to an end, we agreed to be married in name and paper only and enjoy the benefits of the marriage while it lasts. I heard a knock on the door gently, "We leave in 10 minutes," Damian said softly. "Sure!" I yelled from the bathroom, I didn't know who were going to see and I was told not to question his movement. I wasn't allowed to wear any of my old clothes because they didn't look like what a boss' wife would wear, my wardrobe was replaced with more elegant clothes. I put on a light pink gown and heels which was the simplest dress I could find which was also extra in my dictionary. "I'm ready," I announced as I got downstairs, without saying anything or glancing at me, Damian stood up and went straight to the car, of course, I followed behind. "I didn't ask anything about the people we were going to meet?" I finally sum
Gianni's POVMy head snapped towards Zion when I heard the name “Sheila” It felt like my world had stopped. How did he know that name? “Zion!” Luna screamed at the top of her lungs, she looked terrified, I followed her eyes and my attention fell on the heart monitor which was showing a thin line.“Zi…Zion,” I screamed as Luna held me in her arms. My heart raced with fear. I was a medical student, but right now, I didn't have the courage to help him.“It's cardiac arrest; I will get the doctor,” Louis ran out to get the doctor, and Damian jumped on the bed and started giving Zion CPR.I couldn't dare look, I was scared, what type of test is that? Zion was perfectly fine then what went wrong?I opened my eyes when I heard the heart monitor turn on and I let out a breath of relief.“Thank you doctor Damian,” one of the doctors said and did a checkup on Zion.“Damian is a doctor?” Luna asked and I nodded my head.“Doctor, what happened?” I wanted to know the situation.“Mr Zion was a bit
Gianni's POV“You seemed troubled,” Louis handed me an ice cream and I took it from his hand.“Didn't that woman look familiar?” I questioned as I licked the ice cream.“That woman? She looked like Sheila,” Louis licked his ice cream and he didn't seem interested in the conversation.“You could tell too,” I snapped my finger in his face, bringing his attention to the conversation.“Yes, I feel like she is trouble, but I don't know how,” Louis turned to face me, “Stay away from her; I don't trust anyone who looks like that woman, Sheila.”So I wasn't the only one who felt a storm was coming.“Let me drop you off at home,” Louis opened the door and I entered the car, “Like the old days,” he smiled as he turned on a Niall Horan song. The drive to my house was quiet. I don't know why Louis was quiet, as he was usually talkative, but I was trying to make sure that the woman and Damian didn't cross paths.“You should let go, I will make sure my family works her transfer before the end of th
Gianni's POV “You…you let him in?!!” Professor Lisa yelled. “He locked the main door so I can't get in,” Landon answered as his gaze was still lowered. “Have someone take Selena and Francis to their room and get me the keys to the torture room,” Professor said as she paced the room. I could tell she was scared. I knew the word torture room didn't sit right but how bad could it be? “Mrs. Lisa, the door is locked from the inside; that's why I'm unable to do anything,” Landon answered. “Do I have to tell you everything? Break the door before I get there,” I stood up to follow Professor Lisa, “I don't think it's right for you to go there.” “Heaven knows who he is torturing right now,” Professor Lisa muttered under her breath, but I heard it. “What if he is torturing himself?” Luna chipped in, and Professor Lisa's face turned pale. Professor Lisa ran out of the living room and we followed behind her. I was scared as they were trying to break the door. What if he hurt hims
Gianni's POVI played with Damian's hair while he was sleeping, he looked peaceful. I didn't go to sleep out of excitement. I don't even know why I was excited, but since Damian fell asleep, everything kept replaying in my head, and it made me blush.“Good morning,” I said with a shy smile on my face when Damian opened his eyes.I was expecting him to smile or something but he didn't, his eyes fell on the clothes which were on the floor, he looked around the room till his eyes fell on me. “Are you okay?” he moved when I was about to touch him and my hand paused mid air.He looked at me with disgust and anger, “Damnit,” he stood up from the bed, picked his clothes from the floor, wore them, and walked out of the room. What was wrong with him? Why the fuck did he react like that?I felt hurt, but I tried to ignore the situation. I entered the bathroom to freshen up, and when I came out, I met Damian, arranging his things back into his luggage.“Where are you going?” I asked calmly. I d
Gianni's POVI stood Frozen waiting for Damian to say anything, “Is there a problem?” I let out a breath of relief when Damian asked.Thank goodness, he didn't hear the voice. Landon's eyes fell on me, and I could tell he heard the voice, “Nothing, sir, I thought Mrs Salvatore had called me.”“Well, she didn't,” Damian looked at his watch, “Please wait right here with Gianni. I want to use the restroom,” Damian instructed and left us.“Why did you stop?” I asked Landon who looked disrupted while searching for someone with his eyes.“Huh?” Landon raised his eyebrows, “I heard someone's voice I shouldn't have heard, my mind is playing tricks on me.”“Sheila's voice?” I asked.“Yes, that,” Landon paused, “You have never heard her speak, so how did you know it was her voice.”“Now do you understand that I actually saw someone who looks and sounds like Damian's ex wife?” At least someone knows it too.“We must have heard wrong,” Landon said, it felt like he was trying to convince himself,
Gianni's POV“Why are you here?” I asked as I strolled through the Vaitape village market. It was a beautiful place; there was jewelry, clothes, and so many other beautiful shops.“Last night, I asked you not to bring up Sheila's name with Damian, then why did you do it?” Landon asked from behind me.“Did he tell you?” I tried an earring on, “Does it fit me?”Landon nodded his head, “No, he didn't but his reaction gave away the conversation.”“I will take this,” I smiled at the seller and paid.“You shouldn't have,” Landon muttered.“He is my husband and I have the right to talk to him about anything I want to,” I said calmly, trying not to bring any attention to us.“I told you you shouldn't have that conversation with him; then why did you do it?” I stopped when Landon questioned furiously.“Excuse me?” I was surprised, why the fuck was he angry?“Gianni, you don't know what it means to lose a loved one in front of your eyes; you don't know the feelings of opening old wounds. I plea
Gianni's POVLandon burst into laughter, “Sheila? A twin? Never, she was the only child of her family and why are we talking about her now?”“Not to sound crazy or anything, but I saw someone who looked like her,” I waited for Landon's reaction and he looked at me like I was crazy.“That's the most impossible thing; Maybe you saw someone who looked like her, but seeing her? That's impossible,” Landon said, shaking his head.“But…”“Sheila was pregnant, they said it was Damian's child,” Landon scoffed, “She had some complication that night so Damian had to rush her to the hospital, she wanted water so he got down from the car to get water but when he returned, the car was no longer there and people were gathering at the edge of the cliff.”“What Happened?” My curious ass asked as I was invested. Damian never agreed to tell me anything about Sheila or how she died.“A truck had hit Damian's car with Sheila inside, both Damian's car and the truck fell off the cliff, their body and the ca
Gianni's POVWe arrived at Bora Bora, French Polynesia for the honeymoon. Mrs Lisa booked the resort and it's the most beautiful place I have ever seen.I had never been outside LA, but this was a beautiful experience; I would never trade.“Do you like it?” Damian asked when he saw the smile on my face.“Yes, it's beautiful,” I smiled as I looked around. The receptionist opened the door to our Overwater bungalows, I hurriedly entered the room to see what it was like. The room was decorated with flowers, it was spacious, and had only one bed. I know for a fact that Damian didn't plan one bed.“Is there another room? Or a room with two beds?” I heard Damian ask and that made me sure he wasn't aware of the room from the beginning.“This room was reserved under your name,” The woman was trying to be professional, “I'm sorry sir, there is no other vacant room at the moment but when there is one, I will be sure to let you know,” she said when she realized Damian wasn't having it and left.
Gianni's POV Sheila? He called his wife's name, I shouldn't let it affect me but then again, I didn't have the right to be angry, after all, I'm just the kids nanny and he was drunk. I didn't run after him; I entered the bathroom and brushed the alcohol away from my mouth and his fingerprint from my body. I tried my best not to say or think anything; I just went to bed, but what happened played the whole night in my head till I slept off. ********* I was worried; it was 9 in the morning, and Damian wasn't back; I wasn't worried because I cared or something; I was worried because he was drunk when he left the house yesterday. “Gianni, the head of the department has agreed to let you rewrite the exam, so prepare for it,” Professor Lisa informed me, and I smiled. “Thank you,” I was happy, at least I will pass my exams. “Sometimes we just need to be strict for everything to go well, one day everyone will find out that you are my daughter in-law then people will say a lot, I hope y
