CHAPTER 69

DECLAN’S POV

“Are you liking the food?” I asked Kendall nervously, he wasn’t used to much, the number of burnt dishes in the kitchen further proved that fact.

There was a pin drop silence in the whole dining room as the chefs and servant watched from the corners with anxiety. When Kendall nodded, the chill in the atmosphere dissipated and as if granted amnesty, everyone let out a deep breath.

I ordered the servants to leave as we ate in silence. I knew Kendall was still upset with me and I don’t really like it but there’s no talking about that now. I put some more food into her plate watching the candlelight reflecting in Kendall’s eyes. It was a rare moment of peace and serenity when we heard a loud bang and scream.

We immediately stopped what we were doing and ran outside the house. Outside, there was a piercing scream, filled with terror that shattered the night.

Instincts honed over countless moons surged within us and we ran to the source of the sound, and saw, borderi

A part of me didn’t want to believe what happened but at the same time, it didn’t seem like a joke.I didn’t want to believe it, no it wasn’t true but the emotions in his eyes told me otherwise: he looked so serious and he was gripped by fear and guilt. It can’t be, it just can’t be.I paced around not knowing what exactly to do about this information. It gripped me that this was reality and I wasn’t fat dreaming.I walked from one place to another just to calm my nerves but it didn’t seem to change anything. My heart kept on pacing and pounding as I feared what the aftermath might be.Cold sweat dropped off my forehead and I didn’t even bother wiping it off. Tears gathered up at the corner of my eyes and I didn’t bother wiping them off. It was okay to cry.I started running, I didn’t know exactly where I was running to but I ran through the corridors. I needed to be safe, a safe space. Everywhere where I didn't feel

Chapter 71 Kendal’s POVI have heard a lot about adrenaline. Apart from the fact that it is released by certain hormones that cause your body to do the things you have never done before, I had heard a lot but had little experience of it in comparison to how much I’d heard about it.The one time I was certain I had an adrenal spike was after I had been returning home from school and taking a shortcut. The shortcut was through the bushes and there I had an encounter with a snake, or what I thought was a snake because the very moment I got home, I realized that it was merely a dried long grass that had gripped the underside of my shoe and had tagged along with me as I raced home.Another time was after I had pulled Declan out of the basement. He was dying and I could feel it.Our connection which had barely solidified was now dissolving like the human bones when a concentrated amount of hydrochloric acid had been poured on it– fast and painful.“Declan,” I mumbled slapping the side of h

Chapter 72Kendall's POVI went to Declan's room to see him for the 100th time today. It's been one whole week since the incident happened. I sighed sadly, wishing that he would just open his eyes and smile at me. I missed his smile and his captivating eyes. I would do anything at this point to see them again.Suddenly, the door to Declan's door opened again, and in came the doctor. The doctor gave me a small smile acknowledging me and I did the same."What's his situation? When will he come out of this state? His pack needs him, I need him. Please give me a positive reply," I said to the doctor.I guess the doctor could see the frustration in my eyes because he opened his mouth to speak but shut it again."Speak to me doctor, speak to me. I'm here carrying his baby or babies in my womb and the pack is almost falling apart in war. Tell me when he's going to wake up," I said, half-yelling at the poor doctor.I didn't mean to do so but I was so frustrated and unfortunately, he was the o

I had already yelled at the hospital management for losing him. I was one step from calling a search party when I heard Declan's voice. I glanced up only to find him walking into the hospital and towards me, a smile on his face.I immediately stood up and ran up to him and began to punch him in his chest, my hormones, and all of the fear that rogues might have gotten to him coming to hunt me."Hey, hey, hey," he held on to my hands to prevent me from hitting him any further."Where have you been? Where the hell did you fucking go?" I cried."I just went for a run," he said with a shrug"A fucking run? Are you serious?" I glared."Yes, I woke up and needed some fresh air…""You are insane! Declan's POVMy entire being cooled to the damp press of Kendall's cheek against mine. A choked sob shook through her, a tremor that sent pulses of pain through me stronger than any punch I'd ever taken. My arms, which had been wrapped around her in the heat of the kiss, tightened. I pulled back, forcing a lightness to my voice that felt hollow. "Hey, hey," I murmured, brushing a damp strand of hair from her forehead with the pad of my thumb. They glinted off the tears clinging to her lashes, making her eyes look enormous and vulnerable."It's nothing," she mumbled, blinking rapidly, but the hitch in her voice betrayed the lie. "Come on," I coaxed, guiding her towards me. I needed to be clear-headed and understand what was eating at her.Kendall huddled beside me, knees pulled up to her chest. I hated prying, hated seeing the shade of resentment that sometimes crossed her features when I pushed too hard. But this wasn't about prying, it was about being a damn pillar for the gir

Olivia's POVThe news slammed into me like a rogue alpha at a mating ceremony. It was unexpected, leaving me breathless with a kind of anger I hadn't known I possessed. Declan wasn't dead. The silver and wolfsbane hadn't done their job. My carefully laid plans had failed.A feral growl ripped from my throat, a sound more suited to a cornered wolf than a lady of my caliber. But refinement was a flimsy excuse these days, barely concealing the hunger for vengeance that dwelt at my insides. For years, I'd nursed my resentment. Now, the truth sat on my tongue. It was a bitter pill refusing to be swallowed. He was alive, and the pack, no doubt, was celebrating their golden boy's return. The very thought of their smug faces infuriated me.They wouldn't celebrate for long.I wasn't the only one who felt the sting of their rejection. Others, who had been belittled also harbored their own grudges. I'd found them and fanned the flames of their resentment into a full-blown inferno. We were for

But as the paper lay in my hands, it became clear that there was nothing written on it. It was blank. My brow furrowed in confusion as I glanced up at Caden, who stood nervously shifting from foot to foot.“What is this, Caden?” I asked, my voice edged with frustration. “A prank?”Caden shook his head vigorously, his eyes wide with bewilderment. “I don’t know, Declan. When those rogues caught up to me, one of them demanded that I give this letter to you. There was nothing else, just the envelope.”My mind raced as I tried to make sense of the situation. The rogues had been a thorn in our side for months now, their attacks growing bolder and more frequent. But we had never been able to uncover who was behind them or what they wanted. This empty letter felt like a mocking message, a taunt from our elusive enemy.“Do you think this is some kind o

EpilogueWith their love reaffirmed and their bond stronger than ever, Declan and I embarked on a new chapter of our lives together. In just a few short days, surrounded by our loved ones, we exchanged vows and pledged our hearts to each other in marriage. It was a day filled with laughter, tears, and overwhelming joy, as we celebrated our love and commitment to each other. And then, four months later, our joy knew no bounds as I gave birth to twin boys, healthy and strong, who bore a striking resemblance to their father. Holding them in my arms for the first time, I felt a sense of completeness wash over me, knowing that our family was now complete.A week later, as the moonlight filtered through the curtains of our quarters, causing a warmth over the room, I stood watching our twin boys sleep peacefully in their crib. Their tiny chests rose and fell in perfect rhythm, a sight that never failed to fill my heart with warmth and gratitude.Suddenly, I felt Declan’s presence behind me.

With Kendall and her mother by my side, we made our way back to the safety of our camp, the weight of our recent battles slowly lifting from our shoulders. That night, we gathered together for a feast, a celebration of our hard-won victory. The air was filled with laughter and music as we ate and drank, the scent of roasted meat and spiced wine mingling in the air.Around the fire, our pack members shared tales of bravery and triumph, their voices raised in joyful celebration. Kendall’s mother, her face illuminated by the flickering flames, shared stories of her own, her words a testament to the strength and resilience of our pack.As the night wore on, the tension of our recent battles faded into the background, replaced by a sense unity. For the first time in what felt like ages, we were able to relax and enjoy each other’s company, free from the con

Chapter 149Declan’s POVAs the excitement and rejoicing of our victory began to fade, I knew there was still one matter that needed to be addressed. I gathered everyone in the camp, their eyes fixed on me with a mixture of anticipation and apprehension.“Friends,” I began, my voice carrying across the clearing, “we have emerged victorious from this battle. But there is still one question that remains unanswered: what should we do with him?” I asked, pointing to my father-in-law bounded in chains.A murmur of voices erupted from the crowd. Some called for mercy, while others demanded justice. But as I looked around, I could see the steely determination in their eyes. They knew as well as I did that Kendall’s father was a threat that could not be ignored.Turning to Kendall, I sought her counsel, knowing that her opinion held weight among our people. “Kendall,” I said, my voice gentle yet firm, “what do you think we should do?”Kendall’s gaze was steady as she met mine, her expression

My heart skipped a beat at the sight of her, a sense of dread flooding through me.What could she be doing here? I asked myself. Before I could approach her, she met my gaze with an expression. She approached me, her eyes filled with a fierce determination.“I can help weaken them,” she said, her voice steady. “But I need your men to attack fiercely when the time is right.”I nodded, understanding the gravity of her words. Even though she appeared weak and powerless, Kendall’s mother was a force to be reckoned with, her unique blend of werewolf and witch abilities giving her a power unlike any other. As she began her chants, I watched in awe as the magic began to take effect. The rogues fell to the ground, their movements sluggish and uncoordinated. The rest of our warriors seemed strengthened by the rogues’ weakness, their attacks more focused and precise. With a renewed sense

The sounds of battle echoed in the distance, every sound sending shivers down my spine. As I prayed for their safety, a wounded warrior stumbled into the tent, his face pale and painted with blood. He gasped for breath, his words tumbling out in a rush.“We’re losing,” he said, his voice trembling with fear. “Your father… he’s using the rogues. They’re tearing through our men like… like nothing I’ve ever seen.”My heart sank at his words, a cold knot of dread forming in the pit of my stomach. We would become slaves, forced to bend to his will or face the consequences. The others in the tent looked at each other with wide eyes, the weight of the news sinking in. Guns were loaded , swords sharpened, and strategies were whispered among the ranks.Declan had ordered all women to stay back, to tend to the wounded who might make it back, but I had no intention of staying behind.Declan stood before me, his eyes filled with worry. “Kendall, you need to stay back with the others. It’s not safe for you and the baby to be out there.”I shook my head. “I can’t do that, Declan. These are my people. I can’t just sit back and watch them suffer the consequences of my father’s actions.”His face hardened with frustration. “It’s not just about them. It’s about you and our child. I can’t lose you, Kendall.”“I understand that, but if there’s going to be a war, I need to be there. I need to try and save as many people as I can. I’ve known these people all my life. Kendall’s eyes reflected my worry, her presence both a comforting and a reminder of the gravity of our situation.I had always relied on Caden, counted on him to have my back, and now that foundation had been destroyed by his greed and betrayal. I suspected Kendall’s father promised him control over my pack in exchange for his alliance.“I can’t believe it,” Kendall whispered softly. “How could he do this to you? To the pack?”I shook my head, the anger and hurt boiling within me. “I don’t know, Kendall. I thought I knew him, trusted him with everything. Turning humans into Lycans and placing them under his control—Kendall’s father was trying to resurrect an ancient power for his own gain. The implications were deadly.Just as we were about to leave, we heard footsteps through the corridor. We exchanged a panicked glance and quickly sought cover behind a large machine. The outside door creaked open, and my heart nearly stopped when Kendall’s father walked in.“Stay quiet,” I whispered, barely moving my lips. Kendall nodded, her face pale with fear.We peered through the gaps in the factory, watching as her father surveyed the lab with his men. He moved with a confidence that showed his confidence in the security of this place. He approached the table we had been examining and began rifling through the papers, humming to himself.“He has no idea we’re here,” Kendall mouthed, her eyes wide. I nodded, grateful we had locked the door when we entered.

The spy said this was the place. We need to figure out what is going on here.”I couldn’t shake the feeling that we might have been led into a trap. “What if he set us up, Declan? What if my father knew we were coming and had the spy mislead us?”Declan shook his head, his eyes sharp and focused. “I don’t think so. I can sense something. There’s more to this place than meets the eye.”I nodded, trusting his instincts. We began to search through the factory, moving cautiously through the huge space. As we moved deeper, I noticed a section of the floor that looked differ
