Chapter Twenty-eight

Kendall’s POV

Positive.

The word echoed in my mind, I felt as though the ground had been ripped out from beneath me, leaving me floating on a sea of despair. “This cannot be true.” I protested weakly, as I struggled to make sense of the damning evidence before me. “It must be a mistake.”

But Declan’s response was cold and unforgiving, his eyes ablaze with a fierce glare as he silenced my protests with a single, cutting remark. “Stop lying to yourself, Kendall,” he spat, his voice dripping with disdain. “The truth is right in front of you!”

I felt as though I had been punched in the gut, the weight of his words crushing me under their unbearable weight. I wanted to scream, to lash out at the injustice of it all, but all I could do was stand there in stunned silence, my world crumbling around me.
