Chapter 18

"I'm not saving him," Cecilia said firmly. She looked at Warren impassively.

"Wendy Walter, you ingrate! Have you forgotten who raised you?" Warren roared as he struggled. The burly bodyguards beside him held him down.

Wendy Walter.

It had been so long since she last heard that name. She hadn't heard it since she was sold to Samuel at the age of 17.

After that, everyone called her Layla. Then, she was Cecilia.

Cecilia laughed, tears flowing. She'd heard before that women were dandelions when they grew up; if they landed in the right place, they would sprout and grow flowers. If not, they would have a life of suffering.

What of her life?

She had almost forgotten her own name.

Samuel laughed. He seemed to have expected that. "I know that. But he's not my only bargaining chip. I have him too."

He slapped a stack of photographs down before Cecilia. "I know you've been spending a lot of money every month on your brother's treatment. Do you think he'll die if someone pulls the plug
