CHAPTER 6

Sasha's POV

What have I gotten myself into? I stood mouth opened agape not knowing what to say or what to choose.

“Why are you doing all this?” I screamed at his face, not knowing what choice to make.

I stood there, tears trickling down my face thinking beyond myself and about my grandmother. How she'd done everything under the sun to keep me safe and give me the love I never had from my deadbeat parents.

“I'll choose my family, Valentino,” I said looking him straight in the eyes.

Grabbing the briefcase, I asked for one more thing, a smirk forming around my lips. This was my chance to pay off the debt of my old geezer and give my granny a good life.

“Promise me one thing.”

“What exactly do you want?” He said, emotions missing from his gaze.

“You've got some guts, I'm here taking away your problems and you're still emboldened to make a counter-ask?” He questioned, his right hand raised with a loud clap.

In the blink of an eye, four hefty men came into the room.

“Take her away. Throw her outside and let Dave's men have a filled day with her,” Valentino uttered, rage filling his voice.

The menacing men pulled me

“Please don't let them take me away, I'll marry you. I'll sign the contract.”

He appeared to have a sinister plan in place for me. I could feel it deep inside me.

“Good. We'll get married in 48 hours. You can have the briefcase. The maid will get you ready.”

Young and attractive, Valentino Rex had shown promise. Since he was young, he has been an extraordinary businessman. He gained the nickname "The Devil," and a reputation for being a formidable businessman thanks to his exceptional ability to run businesses behind closed doors at Dragon Corporation. He is said to send his enemies on a journey of no return. No wonder no one dared to cross his path.

I sat on the sofa inside my room as I looked once more at the mirror, scrutinizing my beauty and how my life was about to change forever. Today was my wedding to Valentino.

“Let's go, Ma'am, the driver is ready,” Rose, the chief maid, called out to me, bringing me back to the present.

I stood still at the altar, my gaze fixed on the image before me. There he came, dressed in a regalia suited for a president. Valentino walked in majestically to the altar.

The priests led us in our vows as we took our solemn oats as husband and wife.

“You may kiss the bride.” The priest spoke as the church hall erupted in a round of applause.

Valentino grabbed me looking deep into my eyes as though trying to take the keys to my soul. Planting a deep kiss on my lips, I felt like the dew of heaven drenching me.

I walked into the restroom to think of how my life has moved from a poor girl riddled with debt to a contract wife of a billionaire.

“This feels like the movie, someone needs to wake me up from this dream,” I thought inwardly.

“Hey, who do you think you are?” A feminine voice called me back to reality.

I looked in the direction of the voice, to find out if I was the one being questioned or someone else.

“You, yes, you…How dare you marry my man,” She exclaimed.

“Excuse me please, who's your man?”

“Valentino,” She responded.

“Hey, I don't know who you are and I don't care one bit. How dare you come to my wedding and question me,” I uttered in anger.

“Paw”

I had a loud slap on my cheek, followed by another and yet another.

“Miss, how dare you hit me. I'll show you what I'm made of.”

I dragged her hair, tossed her over the wash basin, and swung her into the toilet door.

“She must have some guts to come hit me. I will show her I was made in the streets,” I said as I grinned within me.

Before I could utter another word she swung her a punch in my direction. Using my sixth sense, I moved back swiftly, dodging the punch. But she had other plans off her sleeves.

I held on tightly to her hair as she bit me on my arm.

“Aaargh,” I screamed in pain.

As she made her way to hit me once more unguarded, a voice called out from behind.

“Belinda!”

I turned around and it was Valentino’s right-hand man and best man at our wedding, Jared.

“Belinda, don't you know Valentino won't be pleased if he hears what you did to his wife?”

“I don't care, Jared. You of all persons know I should be the one in that wedding dress, not this imposter. She wants to reap where I sowed.”

“Belinda, I understand but you know you caused your break-up with Valentino.”

“How dare you say that, Jared.”

“Come on Belinda, let go of her this minute,” Jared yelled.

“I'm out of here, and you good-for-nothing low life, who has no place in Valentino’s life, I'll make your life a living hell. You won't take my man, not in my life.”

Immediately she stormed out of the restroom like a defeated tigress whose prey had escaped its grip.

“Valentino is looking for you, let's go right away. Your life starts today, Sasha.” Jared said with a peaky smile on his face.

I was back in the penthouse and inside my room, thinking of what just happened that day.

There and then Valentino stepped into the room.

“Who is Belinda,” I questioned him without giving him a space to speak. I followed up, “She harassed me today at our wedding.”

“How do you mean, Valentino said,” acting ignorant of all I had said to him.

“You're now a Rex, act like one. Don't scream over dead dogs.”

“Do you want her in a body bag?” He questioned me with a grim smile on his lips.
