"Son, look at the kind of woman you've married! It's bad enough that she was a widow, but now she's even bullying your mother. Your father died young, and I worked so hard to raise you.

"I'm telling her not to work for her own good! She's not getting any younger. If she doesn't give birth to my grandson soon, what was the point of you marrying her?"

Laura's tears tugged at Francis' heart. Being the devoted son he was, he immediately sympathized with her.

"Queenie, don't push it. Whatever the case, she's my mother. She raised me on her own. You should treat her better," he scolded Queenie.

"But she wants me to quit my job, Francis! You know how much my career means to me," Queenie retorted tearfully, looking at him, desperately hoping that he might stand up for her.

Francis impatiently waved his hand. "Queenie, you're a woman. Why do you even need a job? My mother's right. Your priority is to give my family a grandson."
