Chapter Three
Conan's P.O.V
I cocked my brow to the left, staring at the lady who stood before me with her hand extended. Her upper lips curled and for a second, I was still trying to process the words that I just heard her say.
Tilting my head to the left, I glanced back and forth between her face and her hand which was still hanging in the air. The way she smiled kind of annoyed me and made me cringe.
"Who are you?" I questioned, accessing her with my eyes from head to toe. She had a bright smile on her face that looked more like it could illuminate the darkest corners of a room as her obsidian black hair tumbled over her shoulders.
After she noticed that I wasn't going to budge in any way or exchange pleasantries with her, she slipped her hands down her pocket while laughing awkwardly, before clearing her throat.
"I know that I shouldn't be saying this right now and I know it was wrong for me to listen to your conversation but I couldn't just help it. I need your help because I am in a dilemma and with the look of things you need my help as well," She said, bobbing her head slowly while I kept a straight expression on my face.
"The thing is that my parents want me to get married to someone that I don't want to get married to, if we get married, my future is going to be in ruins and that isn't something that I want. The engagement ceremony is today and the only way to stop this is by getting married today" She said, clasping her hands over her chest in a form of a plea.
I fixed my gaze on her, totally at a loss for words to say because the more I thought about it, I needed her help as well! My parents wanted me to get married to someone who I wasn't interested in anyway and the reason why they wanted me to get married to the said lady was that they wanted to strengthen the relationship between the two families.
"Please," She muttered, jolting me out of my thoughts.
I bobbed my head slowly before deciding to talk. "I have pondered deeply on your requests and in the end, I have seen that it doesn't only benefit you but it benefits me as well....."
Her eyes lit up and I was barely done talking when she rushed into my arms and wrapped her hands tightly around me, causing me to blink my eyes continuously. Everything was still and it felt like I was the only one in my world, the sweet scent of her hair, assaulted my senses as I gathered all the strength left in me and pushed her away.
"What was that for?" I almost yelled at her.
"Because I know that you are going to say yes!" She squeaked in excitement.
"Yes, I am but please keep your distance! I am going to get married to you on the condition that you need to sign a contract that you are not going to disclose anything that happened between us here and you can only divorce me after one year, we would sign a contract and if you breach it, you would suffer for the consequences of your action " I said while she ping-ponged her gaze around as if she was thinking it through.
She fixed her gaze back on me with a bright smile on her face. "The only thing that matters to me is that the engagement should be called off "
"Do we have a deal?"
"Yes, deal!"
"What's your name?" I asked.
"Liana and yours?"
"Conan"
We both got married and signed the marriage certificates that would be used as evidence to prove that we indeed got married to each other. I couldn't be more grateful that I was finally able to put an end to the arranged marriage that my parents wanted to force me into. She pleaded for me to come along with her so that the whole marriage thing would look believable enough.
As much as it looked like she was excited about the whole thing, there was still this glint of fear and anxiousness in her eyes.
We were now in her parent's house and I could see how she fiddled with her fingers as we walked side by side next to each other. She seemed to be lost in her thoughts. I cleared my throat as she turned to look at me with a forced smile.
The way she stared at me caused my heart to skip a beat. I squeezed my eyes shut, biting the corner of my lower lips, trying to get a grip on myself because I couldn't just wrap my head around the sudden effect she had on me.
"Look, I know that you are nervous but I want you to know that I am here. We should make this believable enough " I said, taking her hands in mine while she beamed with a smile, muttering a thank you.
However, she took me by surprise, tugging her hands in mine as she tucked the strand of hair that fell on her face behind her hair. "This is believable enough"
We stood at the door as she placed her hand on the doorknob, twisting it as the door swung open. We were met by silence and darkness and for a second, I was starting to wonder where I was.
"What....." I heard her say. However, before she could finish talking, the lights turned on with a huge scream of surprise resounded in my ear.
A huge cake was in the center of the room with a banner that had the inscription "Would You Marry Me?". An applause followed afterward with people singing a "Happy Birthday song."
I turned to look at her with my brows puckered in confusion. "Today is your birthday?" I questioned with no answer from her and I was kind of taken aback when I saw the glint of coldness and venom in her eyes.
I followed the direction of her eyes and she was glaring at a lady who was twirling the glass of wine in her hands while leaning on the shoulder of a man who smiled brightly.
"Matilda and Bruce......" She gritted her teeth and I was about to ask her what was wrong when she removed her hands from mine and sauntered to the cake. In the blink of an eye, she pushed the cake to the ground, taking a fistful of it and the next thing she did was hurl it at the banner.
My eyes widened and I could hear the gasps from the people that echoed through the air. I was about to walk toward her when she pointed at me, causing me to pause in my track.
"This engagement has been canceled because the man standing there is my husband and we just got married!" She removed the certificate of the marriage and swirled around slowly while showing everyone the marriage certificate.
"What manner of insolence is this? How dare you disrespect me before the pack!" A man who I presumed to be her father yelled as he clenched his fist by his side.
"You are kidding right?"The man who she addressed as Bruce earlier sauntered to her with his eyes widened in shock. She burst into a peal of hysterical laughter and shoved the marriage certificate right on his face before flashing the ring at his face.
He snatched the marriage certificate and tore it into pieces. He attempted to take her by the hands but I stopped him before he could as I slapped his hands off and pulled Liliana closer to me.
"If you dare lay a finger on my wife? I assure you that you would be leaving here in a wheelchair!" I snarled and turned to look at Liana who was staring deep into my eyes.
A scoff escaped his lips as he stared daggers at me.
Slowly and sharply, the stiletto heels on the hard stone floor came back as echoes in my mind. I turned to look in the direction where the sound emanated only to see Matilda standing before Liana and me, glaring at Liana who glared at her in return before accessing me with her eyes.
"Of all the people you could get married to, you got married to a low life like this man, you left someone like Bruce to get married to this pauper wearing flip-flops? Do you know that you are the future Luna? How dare you bring great disrespect to this family's name!" Matilda scolded and she was about to raise her hands and hit Liana in the face when I grabbed her by the wrist.
"You wouldn't dare!" I glared as we both stared daggers at each other.
"Stop this nonsense now!" Liana's father yelled and ambled towards her with so much anger in his eyes.
"You have disappointed me, great and you are the reason why your mother is crying in the bedroom right now! You have humiliated me and even if you wanted to get married, you could have told me" His eyes gleamed.
"Father...." Liana attempted saying but he cut her short before she could finish her statement.
"From today henceforth, you are no longer my daughter and you are no longer the heir to the company and this pack as well. Leave and never come back!"
Chapter FourLiana's P.O.VTears brimmed in my eyes as the door of the entrance that led to my father's mansion was shut on us. Despite all the taunts and insults, the only thing that kept resounding in my ear and the only voice that kept echoing through my mind was when he said that he disowned me.Never in my wildest imagination did I ever imagine that he would do something like that to me. I knew that I planned to take revenge on Matilda and set everything right but I didn't even think about the consequences of what I was about to do and how it would affect me greatly. It felt as if my whole world was crumbling before my very eyes and it felt as if a needle was pricked into my heart. Swallowing the lump that formed in my throat, my leg almost weakened to the ground and before I could fall, I could feel someone hold me tight by the shoulders. I leaned against his shoulder while he slowly rubbed me on the arms. "Everything is going to be fine, we will talk to your parents when thin
Conan's P.O.VI was at a loss for words to say when I caught sight of Liana pulling the hair of someone who looked familiar but because of the side angle of her face, I couldn't place my head around where I had seen her before. The security personnel rushed inside while I motioned for them to stop, dispersing them with a hand gesture. Despite everything that had happened, Liana kept staring into my eyes with her mouth slacked open and if I would be honest, I didn't know why she was reacting like that. I couldn't just wrap my head around it.I sauntered to her, sweeping the hair that fell on my face to the back while standing before her. All the while, she didn't say anything and kept staring right into my eyes with that same confused expression on her face.I averted my gaze to the lady standing next to her and watched as her eyes grew wide while she quickly covered her mouth in a bid to suppress the gasp that was about to escape her lips. Slowly, it dawned on me that the lady stan
Liana’s P.O.VI wasn't interested in the hullabaloo that was happening in Ming company neither did I care about Matilda and whatever happens to her because honestly, ever since she drove that knife right into my stomach, I had lost all my love and respect for her and the only thing that I was concerned about was what content of the contract that I had signed with Conan. If I could remember vividly, I was more concerned about breaking off the marriage with Bruce Lawrence that my desperation didn't allow me to read the contents of the contract. “I have messed up big-time!” I muttered as I rummaged through the pocket of my trouser that was worn earlier. I knelt and removed the paper. I don't know but I felt like I have signed something that could make my life worse. When he was talking about not leaving him until the marriage lasts for a year, I didn't pay any attention because the only thing that mattered then was just for me to stop the engagement between me and Bruce Lawrence from h
Liana's POVSitting at the back of a van with two different armed men, I knew that my assumptions were coming to pass and Matilda wouldn't rest until she finally took me out of the way. A wave of anger rushed through me as I clenched my fists by my side while a scoff escaped my lips."So she sent a con artist to act like he was Conan's brother. She also sent some people alongside him so that they would succeed in deceiving me and make me think that I am someone so important. Matilda, I am going to make sure that I am your end" I muttered under my breath, glancing at the man who claimed to be Conan's brother. He shot a smile at me while I rolled my eyes to the back, cringing at his smile and almost cussing out at him."I hope that you all burn in hell" I cussed out loud, hoping that he wouldn't hear even though the armed men fixed their gaze on me.Thankfully, he didn't hear because he had his AirPods plugged into his ear.I fiddled with my fingers before wrapping my hands around me t
Conan's P.O.VMy brows knitted in confusion and surprise at the same time as I fixed my gaze on Liana who covered her mouth with her hands in a bid to suppress the gasps that were trying to escape her lips. "Oh, my God!" She screamed at the top of her lungs as she rushed towards me and fidgeted while she tried to take my hands. I saw how her fingers trembled as she stretched her hands toward me. "I swear I had no idea that you are the one, does it hurt? I am sorry," She said hurriedly while I tossed the knife that I had clutched tightly.Connor barged in and when he saw the blood that dripped to the ground, his eyes almost popped out of their sockets. "Who in the world did this, is it you?" He glanced at Liana as he ran his hands through his hair."It is fine, it doesn't hurt" I ignored him, averting my gaze to Liana who was on the verge of panicking as tears welled in her eyes."But you are bleeding, you are bleeding so bad" The tears in her eyes cascaded down her cheeks and for a
Liana's P.O.VDifferent thoughts coursed through my mind and the only thing I wanted to do at the moment was to slam my head against the wall for not reading through the contract before signing it. It felt more like I signed my whole life to him for a year and the mere thought of it caused my stomach to churn.I was jolted out of my thoughts when Conan took my hands in his as we both walked towards the entrance of a huge mansion that was adorned with different flowers and lights. "Don't be nervous, they won't bite or hurt you in any way" He said in a bid to reassure me as he squeezed me in the hands while I forced out a smile.I took in a deep breath but the more I did, the more I was enveloped with a great feeling of nothing but regret. My quest for revenge caused me to sign something that I would have never signed if not for the fact that I was blinded by my thirst for vengeance against Liliana.Gulping on my spittle, I ducked my head while fiddling with my fingers. He suddenly pau
Conan’s P.O.VI knew trouble was brewing after catching sight of Kayla standing at the entrance that led to the dining room. Before I could stop her, she had already gotten to where Liana was, and everything she did ended up annoying me, intensifying the wave of anger that was rushing through me.How dare she yank Liana off like that and who the hell gave her the audacity and temerity to spill Liana’s food over the floor like that?“What the hell did you just do?” I yelled at her, gripping her by the arm as her eyes struck mine. The fury that blazed in her eyes suddenly disappeared as tears welled up in her eyes while her lips wobbled. “Did you have to do something like that?” Her lower lips shook. “Did you have to do this to us? Despite knowing what we shared” She muttered and the next thing that followed was the tears that cascaded down her cheeks, causing her mascara to get smeared around the corner of her eyes. My eyebrows knitted in nothing but utter and total confusion as her
Liana's P.O.VI was at a loss for words to say as I ran after the gurney that pushed Kayla to the emergency room. I was confused and didn't know how to wrap my head around what had happened to her. Earlier, she looked as though she was fine and now, she was being rushed into the emergency ward. The look of despair was evident on the face of Conan's mother whose eyes welled up with tears.Conan and his father went to meet with the doctor while the door to the emergency ward slammed shut right in my face. "I hope that she is fine" I clasped my hands, muttering a word of prayer as I squeezed my eyes shut.I was about to flick my eyes open when I felt someone grab me by the arm and I felt something sharp like needles prick into my tender skin. When I looked down, I saw that Uncle Jojo's wife, Amanda, had pressed her long fingernails so hard into my skin."You Gold-digger, how dare you have the audacity to pray after being the one who had caused her pain? Do you think that everything woul
After four yearsA smile formed on my face while brushing my hands through the mating sign around my neck and as soon as the memories flashed through my head, I beamed further with a smile. Conan suddenly appeared behind me, planting soft kisses around my neck causing me to chuckle as I turned to look at him while wrapping my hands around his neck. He placed his lips on mine while I chuckled. This man was everything that I had ever wanted and although our journey was rough and bumpy with a lot of obstacles that always seemed to come up in our way all the time, it never broke us! Instead, it strengthened the love and trust that we had for each other. If I would be honest, I was glad of all the obstacles because they only made us stronger. After he spent time brushing his lips through mine, he wrapped his hands around my waist, smiling at me with a glint of passion in his eyes. He slurred. "Isn't it weird that we are getting married again? I mean, Daisy finds it weird. She kept com
LianaI couldn't believe my eyes and I couldn't believe that Bruce Lawrence would do something like that however something happened that caused my mouth to slacken in shock when the image of the girl named Kayla popped up on the screen.Like a flood, all the memories that I have been trying so hard to recall flooded my head. I gritted my teeth in anger while seething with rage when images of what Bruce Lawrence made me go through passed through my head and the fact that he acted like my husband and fed me those stupid medications while feeding me with lies like I had a brain tumor caused me to laugh the more. Clenching my fist in anger, I went to my parent's house and everything that they did to me earlier flashed through my head and most importantly, I was glad for the fact that Conan finally found me! Yes! I might have escaped on my own but still, he found me because if I hadn't laid my eyes on him, I was sure that I would never have recollected half of my memories. "That son of
ConanI decided that it was finally time to deal with Mr. Ethan, Bruce Lawrence, Matilda, and Mr. Hunter for everything that they had done and I wouldn’t spare any of them. Ever since what had happened, Liana had been devastated by what had happened and she had remained a shadow of herself. She just couldn’t understand what she had done to her parents for them to treat her like that I felt really bad for her and I wanted her to regain her memories as fast as possible so that she would realize that her parents weren’t worth her tears because they would never see her the same way that she had seen them! However, the bright side of this was that Daisy was slowly warming up to me and she wouldn’t cry whenever I tried to touch or carry her. Most of the time, she would rush into my hands and play with me. I was so delighted with her that I ordered a hundred plushies to be sent to the house and a bouquet to be sent to Liana as well while sending beautiful dresses that I knew she would li
Conan povI knew that LIana's parents weren’t the best but ever in my wildest imagination would I ever believe that they would go as far as treating their daughter like a stranger like she didn’t exist. The fact that they had treated LIana in that horrible manner caused my fist to clench in anger and I swear on everything around me that I would never forgive them for what they did to LIana.Even if they didn’t want her anymore, they could have still pretended to be nice to her. In anger, I withdrew from LIana’s embrace and barged into the house despite Liana’s screaming for me to stop but I didn’t listen! The only thing I wanted was to give them a piece of mind! I could hear Liana’s footsteps behind me but I didn’t care! I would only be pacified when I finally give them a piece of my mind because dare they treat her in that horrible manner.“Do you honestly think that treating your first child as a stranger is the best thing to do? After everything that you know that she is going thr
ChapterLIanaI wouldn’t deny the fact that I was nervous and the fact that I was going to miss my parents and the annoying thing was that Conan’s words kept resounding in my head and despite everything that had happened, I would never settle for the fact that my parents were bad people.I wanted to talk to my mum and most especially, I missed my father, the one that I have ever loved the most and most importantly, I missed my mother! This excitement was building inside of me as I tried to recollect what they would like now! Would they even expect that I would be there? I couldn’t wait to see the excitement on their faces when they set their eyes on me.Deep inside of me, I kept reassuring myself about Conan’s words. “My parents were not bad people and all those rubbish talks from earlier about my parents being bad people would never be real and I would never believe something like that!” Slowly, Conan’s mother's words flashed through my head again and she accused my father of being
Conan’s Point of View The fact that he was still claiming the right over Daisy made my blood boil and the only thing that I wanted to do at that very moment was to hurl the phone against the wall. It was just about time that he paid for all of his sins and it was about time that he had a taste of his medicine.I was tired of condoning his nonsense for a long and I was tired of his constant audacity when he was nothing but a puppet that was being used by his father to carry out his father’s horrible wishes. It was so glaring that Daisy wasn’t even his daughter and the fact that he felt the need to address her as his daughter was something that I would never be able to forgive for the rest of my life. There was no way that I would allow Bruce Lawrence to be at rest after everything that he had done. Now that I thought about it, it was now time to drag Bruce Lawrence into the hell that I have been preparing for him and a lot of the people that hurt me. My first plan turned out to be a
Conan When she mentioned Kayla, it made me feel a little weird, and the fact that she mentioned Kayla’s name with her face scrunched up made me feel like there was a high chance that she was slowly regaining her memories. Then when a groan escaped her lips, I rushed towards her in haste because it turned out that my assumptions were starting to seem like it was true.I rushed towards her while quickly making eye contact for my mum to take her away from there because I felt that Daisy didn’t deserve to see something like that. I didn’t want Daisy to grow up seeing her mother in this horrible state. It was something that I didn't want Daisy to even remember when she got older and the fact that my mom understood what I meant warned my heart a bit.Daisy began wriggling in her arms as if she wanted to set herself free and as soon as my mother promised to give her candy, she suddenly went mute and the next thing that happened was her shouting about how much she wanted to stuff her mouth w
Next Chapter Liana’s Point Of View My eyes furrowed in confusion after seeing the sight before me and after this woman insulted me, she was here crying, and the way that she looked relieved after she had set her eyes on me kind of like made me raise a brow in confusion."What the hell is happening here? Why are you two here? Did something bad happen" I said even though my words were muffled against Conan's chest as he pulled me alongside Daisy who almost flinched in my hands and the fact that he had no idea about how much he was scaring Daisy with the creepy way that he was acting made me want to push him off me. But something stopped me! There was this sudden surge in my stomach and heat was rising in my stomach as soon as I felt his hands around me and the annoying thing was that it felt like I had experienced something like that before. Now that I thought about it, the woman who addressed herself as Conan's mother who did nothing but hurls insults at me even though I was just me
Conan POVHer mouth slackened while her eyes opened wide as she reached her hands for Daisy and slowly pulled her into a hug. I wouldn’t deny the fact that I was taken by her reaction became I never expected that she would react like that. After what seemed like minutes, She turned to look at me and the fact that she had tears welling up in her eyes caused me to raise my brow in confusion because one thing that I knew was that she would never do something like that but the way she was kind of emotional kind of melted my heart and somehow, it changed my view about her although it was not entirely it was just a little bit. She encircled her hands around Daisy while planting soft kisses on her head as she rubbed her slowly on her back. She muttered. “I am sorry for not recognizing you soon enough and I am sorry for not knowing that you are my granddaughter. I am sorry for saying all those terrible things to your mom and I am sorry for being absent in your life” My earlier thought was t
