TIFFANY WEST
I woke up in comfort. The softness of a delicate pillow cradled my cheek and the gentle press of silk sheets brushed my neck.
I jerked upright, opening my eyes to an immaculate room brightened by lights, and behind thick, elegant curtains was absolute darkness.
I didn't know this place. I've never seen this type of furniture before. Not the polished dark room dresser. Or the carved antique chair in the corner.
What was more unnerving than the unfamiliar setting was the realization that I had lost at least a good few hours of the day. It was dark outside and I had been unconscious since morning.
I remembered Lorenzo coming into my suite. We were arguing and the next thing I felt was a stinging pain in my neck. That asshole injected me.
I threw back the covers, rushing out of the bed, my feet hitting the cold marble tiles.
My shoes… I wasn't wearing any but thank fuck my clothes were still intact but someone took my god-damned shoe.
Lorenzo.
I started to open the door but it only led to a long hallway with several turns. To the right, large ornate paintings were spaced along the walls. Some sort of Roman warrior statue stood atop a pedestal, staring back at me from the very far end. To the left, there was more hall, to a break in the middle leading to a light-filled area.
It took me a few minutes of wandering before I heard clattering sounds, and then a clink of cutlery.
Food.
I hoped because aside from the rage consuming my insides, I was fucking hungry. I hadn't had anything since morning.
I followed the sound down the hallway until a young woman came into view. She was standing before a cooktop in the middle of an island counter, a stainless canopy range hood above her head as she gripped a frying pan with one hand and a spatula in another.
I scanned around, and from a safe distance, I could hear the familiar deep timbre of Lorenzo's voice on a call. The asshole had not only drugged me but brought me to his fucking house. I focused my eyes on the front door. From where I stood, I could make a run for it.
Without hesitating, I kicked my legs in motion, ran to the door, and stepped out of the mansion into the night darkness.
The only thing on my mind was getting out of here, without sparing a second glance at my surroundings, I made a run for a pathway that seemed to lead outside the estate.
I hadn't gone far when Lorenzo burst out from one of the corners and I crashed harshly against him, the impact sending me against the ground.
My eyes fixed on Lorenzo while his dark gaze bore down on me. He looked different— almost unrecognizable in a short-sleeved collared shirt, his dark hair damped and casually mussed.
It was the first time I had seen him without a suit. He seemed almost naked in comparison, his arms holding more muscles than I recalled from our night together.
“Going somewhere, topolina?” The apathetic thickness of his voice was enough to put me up in flames considering my intense anger.
“You fucking drugged me,” I was up on my feet, matching the intensity of his cold gaze with my anger. He stared down at me like I was another species and possibly dull entertainment.
“You left me no choice. Now, follow me,” He grabbed my wrist, but I pushed his hand off me.
“Are you being serious? You injected me with only God knows what, and brought me here against my will. That's kidnapping if you ask me,”
“If I remember correctly, you're wearing my ring aren't you, so unfortunately, it doesn't count as kidnapping,”
“Of course it is—” The sound of gunshots in the night air startled me. “What the hell was that?”
“If you don't get back inside, you'll find out soon enough,”
My lips parted to speak but I jumped at the sound of another gunshot. I wonder where they kept coming from. They sounded so close. Which was beyond dangerous, especially at night.
“Dinner’s ready,” He said, blue eyes watching me as if expecting me to haul myself inside. “Fine,” Dry amusement danced in his eyes as he walked back to the mansion. “If I were you, I wouldn't stay out here long. If the bugs don't get you something else might. It'll be a shame if it were one of those,”
I didn't say a word as he strode away. I remained rooted for a second before another round of gunshots filled the air. I jerked my legs moving on its own accord after Lorenzo as we made it back into the mansion.
It was quiet with only the young girl from earlier. She was done cooking already, placing some containers into the fridge.
“Where's Dario?”
“He's in bed,” She strutted to one of the couches, picking up what I assume was her bag. “Savio and Ronan are still at Paradiso. Don't think they'll be back soon,” Her eyes shifted back to me. “Wish I could stay a second longer, but I can't. We'll see much of each other tomorrow,” She headed towards the door. “By the way, I'm Leona,” She called over her shoulder, before leaving the mansion.
I glanced around again, as Lorenzo stalked straight to the fridge. He pulled out container after container, placing them on the island, before returning to grab a jug of water and a bottle of juice. “Help yourself,”
I lifted the offerings, glancing inside the plastic tubs to inspect the contents and why he grabbed a plate and glass from the nearby cupboard and placed them in front of me.
“Juice or water,” He placed a hand on both jugs waiting.
It didn't feel right to accept anything from him. Even a single glass of OJ seemed wrong, but I couldn't be stubborn with my stomach anymore.
“Water,” I reached for the closest container and opened the taco mince. “My phone,” I raised a brow.
“In the bedroom,” He barely even glanced my way, as he snatched the container from the counter, popped the lid, and placed the taco mince in the microwave. The spiced scent filled the air in seconds and sent my stomach into an unending loop of somersaults.
“I won't be able to finish that,” I admitted.
“Eat what you can, I'm not concerned about the waste,”
Of course, he wasn't concerned about anything. Not wasting food or the fact he was already ruining my life with this marriage.
He slid the heated mince towards me, along with tortillas and some opened containers filled with diced tomatoes and thinly sliced lettuce.
A moan dragged from my lips as I took my first bite. It felt like I hadn't eaten in weeks. Every mouthful was euphoric, and all the while, Lorenzo watched me, his attention rarely leaving my face.
After a few mouthfuls, I took a sip of water, meeting his gaze. “Okay, I was frustrated earlier but now I'm ready to talk,”
“Once you finish eating,” His focus turned to my mouth. My lips. Somehow his attention made goosebumps erupt on my skin.
I sighed and finished the first taco in two more bites. “I'm done,” I murmured. “Can we talk now?”
“About what?” There was a tightness in his shoulders I couldn't miss.
“About us?”
“Is that a question or do you have something to say?”
“I have something to say,”
He crossed his arms and leaned against the counter. “Go ahead then,”
I swallowed. “ I know I was a bit hysterical earlier, but you can't blame me. I don't care whatever dealings you had with Francis and my mother that went wrong, but I refuse to be the one to pay for their wrongdoing,”
“Are you approaching a point?”
“My point is, if you give me some time, I can pay up what they owe you and we can put everything that has happened behind us, we'll get a divorce and I'll be out of your hair,”
His gaze turned cold. “Tempting but it's a little too late for that. I needed a wife, and now I have one,”
“We won't do well together,” was what came out.
“You seemed agreeable enough to me that night,” His expression had Royal Haven and one night stand written over it.
I fought the heat that almost rushed to my cheeks at his crass reminder. “Is that why you pushed for this wedding?”
“Please don't flatter yourself. I didn't even know you were related to them until I invaded your family's lunch in my restaurant,” His eyes sparked with dark amusement. “This is just business,”
“Where are you going? We're not done here,”
He ignored me. “If you're done eating, come, I'll show you around your new home,”
“Home?” I scoffed. “More like my own personalized hell,” He still didn't respond. “Tell me, Lorenzo, aside from the satisfaction of ruining my life, what do you hopeto achieve in all of this?”
He paused and turned to me for a second. I thought he'd respond but he didn't. He walked away.
TIFFANY WESTThe mansion was a sprawling estate with several wings, each of which I was told belonged to the Russo brothers— Lorenzo, Savio, Dario— and a guy named Ronan.“I don't see guards anywhere?” I asked as I followed him down the familiar hallways. He threw me an amused quizzical stare. “Already planning your prison break?”“I'm glad you realized this is a prison for me,”He remained silent. “We don't need them. Even Dario is capable of defending himself, and with you, I'll assign someone to follow you around,”“I could run you know,”“Try it,” It was a dare and warning from him.A cold shiver erupted at the base of my spine. “Would you feel good about yourself, catching a girl half your size?” “Yes,” There wasn't an ounce of doubt in his reply.I crossed my arms as we entered the large bedroom I had woken up.“We'll share the same room,“So we'll sleep next to each other. We'll fuck like a happily married couple. And I'll cook and cater to you like a good little wife. Aren't
(PRESENT)LORENZO RUSSOThere were two rules I always followed. Never leave the house without my .45. And never put myself in a position I knew I couldn't get out of. I'd only survived this long by following those two simple rules. I'd never been tempted to break them— up until I made a costly mistake by fucking her that night. And now I made another one by marrying the little vixen. One bad decision was starting to fuck up my entire life.I hadn't even known she was in any way related to Francis Strauss, even when he had proposed marriage to his stepdaughter. I couldn't care less. Even when I had discovered the family connection a few months ago when she had visited Las Vegas during Christmas. I still didn't give a fuck. I'd rather aim my bullets in Francis' head and get the debt over it. But everything changed in a second. A second and a fucking name was enough to change it all.Soon I found out Francis was also involved with the Turkish Mafia. He owed them as much as he did me and
TIFFANY WEST I leaned against the adjoined door, listening to the subtle noise that lingered in Lorenzo's room. It was a few minutes past four am when I'd been startled awake by the sounds from his room. It seemed he had just returned home. After a few more minutes, the door from his room opened and closed again. He had left?Gently, I pull my open, peeking into his room. He wasn't in. I stepped into his room. It was eerily dark. With dark walls and mahogany furniture, it had a masculine touch.I left his room, the cold from the marble tiles seeping into my feet. The lights in the mansion had been turned off. I wandered around, heading to the front door, but it was locked as well as the back door. The only light that was on was coming from down the hallway. I walked towards the hall opening, and took a right, heading into uncharted territory. There were more paintings down this way. More rooms too. I heard a clang as I approached the glass door at the very end. Then another. Weight
TIFFANY WESTIt was an explosion of fire, bursting inside me, spreading from my stomach to the tip of my fingers, and shamelessly, thoughtlessly, I kissed him back.Fuck. It hadn't even lasted more than a minute but I could still feel the intensity of his lips pressed against mine, invoking everything I shouldn't feel. But I did. It was intense, resurrecting an insatiable want and need.I jerked from my thoughts, my eyes snapped up to find Stefano, the new babysitter Lorenzo had left to guard me right after he left in the morning, without saying anything about the kiss.I wasn't one to hold something as trivial as a kiss in my mind, but strangely, it had consumed my entire thoughts and I wished I hated it.I narrowed my eyes at him, trying my hardest not to glare. The guy was almost twice my size, with hard muscles and scars, and a very terrifying scowl on his face.“What's it?”“That thing's been buzzing for hours,” He pointed at my phone, and to my surprise, it had been really ringi
TIFFANY WESTMy breath escaped me in one rush as Lorenzo pressed his body deeper into mine. I could feel every inch of him against me.“Lorenzo,” His name was barely a whisper against my lips, but I clung to him desperately like he was my lifeline. Tears blurred my vision, but I held them back. His gaze leveled to the open wound in my hand. They remained there for more than a second. His jaw clenched hard and muscles grew taut beneath my palm. When he brought his ice-blue eyes back to me, the darkness in his soul had licked into his eyes, filling them with black. His gaze held a silent promise of retaliation.“Where are you hiding whore? Viktor wants to see his fucking whore, fortunately, he doesn't care if we bring you dead or alive. After all, you were his before the fucker stole you,” The voice echoed around us, drawing closer. The hold on his gun tightened, his head tilted to the side, listening for a second. I could hear the heavy footfalls of my chasers, they were drawing close.
“Fuck. With the excruciating pain, I feel, it might as well still be in there,” My fingers curled into his shirt, digging into his arm as he used scissors to cut through my shirt, ripping it off until I was only in my blood-stained white lacy bra.He examined the fresh wound carefully before he picked up a cotton wool and began to gently clean the wound himself.I swallowed, stunned quiet. His gentle touch against my skin ignited something deep inside of me. A flame. Burning to life in my chest, and consuming every inch of me. His gentleness was shocking.I couldn't remember the last time anyone had ever done something like this for me. Not since Dad. How could a man be so cold, and yet so warm all at once? The pain was excruciating nonetheless. Even after he had cleaned it up and carefully dressed it, it still hurt like a bitch.“The Doc would take another look at it when he gets here,” I nodded. My unharmed hand behind my back to unclip my bra. “I need to get out of these,”Lorenzo
LORENZO RUSSO“Capo, I'm truly sorry, I didn't mean—” Stefano began, jerking up from the couch as soon as I descended the stairs. “Not now!” My voice was calm. Dangerously calm. “Where's Dario?” I poured myself a glass of vodka, chugging it down at once. The burn blended smoothly with the anger of wanting to lose.“He's in his room,”“Keep him there,” I'd deal with Dario later. Since he'd hit puberty he was completely intolerable and had been difficult even before that. And now his induction as a Made Man was in a few weeks, and the kid was acting up. He was fifteen, he should have been inducted at thirteen when he had his first kill, but Savio and I knew he hadn’t been ready. I couldn't keep pushing his induction any further. He was a Russo, and it was time he grew up and started acting like it. Maybe I sheltered him too much from the cruel realities of our world. He wasn't like Savio and me. And if he kept on acting like a child, even being a Russo would not save him. “And Savio?”
LORENZO RUSSO “Came to watch me shower?” I flicked my attention to her as I turned. It was a question. But she only let her gaze travel through every inch of my tattooed skin until it rested on my cock. I was fucking hard just seeing her in my shirt. Her breasts tightened under the fabric, her nipples hardening under my attention. The shirt was barely covering enough, and with the lustful way she was looking at me, nothing was stopping me from pulling her into the shower and fucking her against the glass. But I held back.“What happened?” Her eyes were no longer on my pulsing dick. They were now on the crimson fluid that washed from my body to my feet.I didn't reply. She tried again. “Did you kill him? The other guy dragged into the truck?”I still didn't reply. Eager to see where she was heading with this.“So you did,”“Disappointed?” I raised a brow. She had no idea how focusing my rage on that fucker saved the streets of Vegas. She gave me an incredulous look. “He tried to kill
ELENA DUVALI had gone to one of the guest rooms downstairs to shower. By the time I was done, and headed back to the bedroom, Dimitri had left. And as usual, he didn't come home that night. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't shake the memory of Dimitri's mouth on mine. The firmness of his lips. The heat of his body. The subtle expensive scent of his cologne and the self-assured weight of his hand around my waist.Days later, I could still feel the vividness of the moment as clearly as if it'd just happened, and what was worse, everywhere I turned, the little display at the bathroom kept sneaking back into my mind no matter how hard I tried to banish it.It was infuriating. But not as infuriating as coming home every day to a silent, spotless house. Dimitri had left for Europe on a business trip the next day after the Glam event, and our unfinished conversation. It had been a week already since I had last seen him, and I only found out yesterday that he had returned to New York, bu
ELENA DUVALTo say in absolute honesty, I couldn't stand the silence on the drive back home. It was everything between suffocating and uncomfortable, especially with just the two of us in his Ferrari. He had simply collected the keys from Chris, insisting on driving. This was the first time we were together, alone in a car and somehow the car felt so small or was it just me?I looked out the window to the rear mirror and I noticed Allen closely behind in the silver Mercedes we had driven all day.I flicked a gaze over to Dimitri. He had his eyes trained on the road.He was pissed. But I had no idea why. If it was because I had showed up unannounced or because I had kissed him unexpectedly.Or maybe because of the little drama with the Whitmans or maybe it was my dress. With the annoyed glance, he threw my way before we got into the car. I could tell he hated the dress too but I wasn't sure why.I leaned back into the leather seats, and thankfully, we soon arrived at the Ford's mansion
ELENA DUVALI wasn't sure if what I was seeing was real or not at this point. I wasn't sure if I was imagining things, but the look in his eyes darkened as his gaze trekked down my body. Almost as if he was undressing me, leaving me completely bare before him. And the crazy part was, I liked it. I swallowed a lump in my throat as I felt the curious gazes of his companions shift on me, and then suddenly, one after the other, I felt curious gazes travel over to me.“They are all staring at us,” I muttered over to Tiffany under my dazzling smile, still keeping Dimitri's gaze. I just couldn't seem to look away, not with how he was looking at me.“Not us beautiful, they are staring at you, everyone wants to know who this sexy as fuck goddess is, Elena,” I could barely hear Tiffany's voice over the heat of Dimitri's gaze. It was distracting. I could see the curiosity in his gaze as well, eager to know what the hell was going on in my head. From my peripheral vision, a face crept into my v
“I'll tell you once we meet,” I said finally, before disconnecting.I pulled my gaze out of the window and into the evening darkness. I swear on my life Dad, Mum, I would send every one of them to hell, I would get back our company, restore our family's honor, and find my sisters. I swear this to you.“Allen, we'll make a stop at Lewis and Sons,” I said and he nodded with a “Yes, ma'am,”Soon, we pulled up at the luxurious curated mall, which was one of the Ford Empire Group's largest fashion subsidiaries. I was in the VIP section, going through some accessories to match the dress I had picked that was perfect for tonight. The Glam event was set to start by seven, and it was already a few minutes to the hour of seven. But I still had at least two hours before I made my appearance there.Tiffany joined me a few minutes later, and we started the necessary preparations for tonight. She was also attending tonight's party and had managed to secure two invites for us.It was a few minutes
ELENA DUVALI found Allen waiting for me beside the car just outside Mr Richardson Villa. He straightened up as soon as he saw me. “Ma'am, are we done?” I stopped walking, turning around to glance back at the villa, my hand on the brown envelope tightened. Everything Mr Richardson had said, rushing like a in my mind. His words and warnings.“Are you still going through this?” Mr Richardson had asked me, but what else did he expect me to do? I just found out the Whitmans were the cause of my parents' deaths and they stole my company. This wasn't just about revenge, or getting back the company. It was more than that. It was figuring out what happened to my family. Why would the Whitmans go to such great lengths to destroy us?Who were these people? Why did they want D&M Corp so bad that they had to destroy my family? And most importantly, who had my sisters? I had a feeling this wasn't just a case of missing persons. Someone took my sisters. And that someone was ensuring I would neve
ELENA DUVALI glanced at the time on my phone. It was a few minutes past the hour of three. I took in a deep breath, sipping from the glass of water on the table. I couldn't keep calm and I couldn't seem to stop my racing heart either. I tried to distract myself from the train of thoughts with the beautiful fountain almost at the center of Mr Richardson's home. It was beautiful. We had one like that in my family's villa in Texas.I was currently at Mr Richardson Villa. After I literally ambushed him in the parking lot, I suggested we go to a nearby restaurant to talk, but he insisted we go somewhere private. Somewhere safer. I rubbed my palms against one another, while I waited for him outside under the shade. And I straightened my shoulder as I saw him approach me with a brown envelope.“Elena,” He called my name as he settled in his chair and I leaned forward.“Mr Richardson,”“Please let's drop the formalities, call me as you've always,” He placed the brown paper on the table, le
I left the beach and made my way back to the mansion. On my way, I put a call through to Tiffany.“Tiff, what do you know about the merger between D&M Corporation and the Whitmans?” I asked quickly, hearing Tiffany's deep sigh over the phone.“Did you remember something?”“I just found out Krystal Group was a result of a merger between Dad's company and the Whitmans,”“Yeah, that's true. It happened right after your parents died. Your dad had signed the merger and I believe sold off his shares to the Whitmans—”“Dad would never. D&M Corporation was his life. Dad wouldn't just sign it off especially since Tyler turned out to be such a cheating bastard. The Whitmans were the ones desperate for that merger to save their crumbling company. Dad wouldn't just hand it over to them,” I was fuming with rage. Just the thought of it riled me up.“Well, you know, with the fraud, illegal dealings and bankruptcy D&M Corp was facing at the time, a merger or acquisition would have been the best optio
ELENA DUVALI inhaled, blinking my thoughts and the unsettling feeling away and as I shifted my attention back to Dimitri he was staring at me with that gaze that was literally saying “You wanted to talk, now talk, Elena”The memory of the look in his eyes the last time I had seen him sent a ghost of shiver down my spine.“You didn't come home last night, or the night before,” I struggled to keep my voice firm.“So you are really keeping tabs on me,” He said, dropping the cigarette between his fingers on a glass while his thumb ran through the bottom of his lips and amusement flashed in his depths.“Seeing as I am your wife, I believe I have earned that right,” I breathed in calmly. And involuntarily, without warning, my gaze moved to his expertly styled hair.It was always neat and perfect, so much so that I always felt the tempting urge to run my fingers through its softness. “It's not like I'm asking you where you were, or with whom,” I paused on my words as Dimitri leaned back in
DIMITRI CASTELLOMy brows furrowed and the corners of my eyes had begun to darken.Just one glance at her sent the blood rushing in my bones boiling. She was a fucking mess and I couldn't think straight. Just the red marks around her chin, neck, and Jesus, the fucking bruise on her lips made something within me snap. And I felt the anger that crept up beneath my skin. It was slow but searing. “Who hit you?” Was the first thing that left my lips as I withdrew my hand from her face. My voice was low and dark, sending a trembling shiver down her spine. Her body stilled suddenly, and I knew it wasn't because of the fucking rain. She was scared. She had no idea just what I was capable of but at least she had an inkling.“No one,” She answered with a trembling voice. Maybe I'd believe her if she wasn't a fidgeting mess already or if she wasn't covered in bruises. But nah, not even then.I knew it was a fucking mistake bringing her here. I'd known why she begged me to come here. To see tha
