Ruby is awake, so it is back to her POV, but I hope we have all enjoyed reading the story in the third person’s POV.

Let’s get into it.

I shifted from the chair, only for me to notice that my head was on the soft surface, no doubt a mattress. I struggled, trying to open her eyes, but it was proving to be difficult.

I felt warm skin covering my hand, and a sense of peace washed over me. Even if I couldn’t place the owner of the warmth, I knew it was familiar, and I had once craved it, and that was the only reason I was able to relax.

“It is alright; I am here.” I heard the male voice say in my subconscious, and I felt peace within.

The warmth was with me, burning bright like a blazing flame but never hot enough to burn me, and suddenly it was slipping from my hand, and I used all the strength I had in me to squeeze it.

“Please don’t go.” I was saying, although I was sure my mouth wasn’t moving. But he seemed to hear me and stayed.

I tried to blink away the fog that was covering my

When I woke up, it was too bright, and I was grateful for the thick curtain that shielded me from the harsh rays of the sun.My eyes scanned the whole expanse of the room—something seemed to be lacking. Yeah, I was right; I couldn’t perceive the scent of Alex’s cologne, and he wasn’t anywhere in the room. For a second, fear gripped my heart as different thoughts began to race through my mind.Has he finally gotten tired of all my baggage and left me? I raised my head in an attempt to stand up, and I found out that 70% of the pain I was feeling was gone.I shifted, ready to stand up, but the door swung open to reveal Alex looking every bit like an avenging warrior. “Alex.” I shouted, excited, but I only ended up stressing myself, and I burst into a bit of a cough.Alex was rushing to my side, and I don’t know how he did it, but he was holding a bottle of water in his hands, and he was holding my head, directing my mouth to the bottle.“Easy.” He said as I rushed the water, and it flew

We sat in the car as it glided smoothly on the road, but I wasn’t concerned about what was happening around me. All I was concerned with was trying to compose what I was going to say to Alex when we got home.It was too late because before I could process my thoughts, the car stopped in front of my house, and my heart rate picked up just looking at it. All of a sudden, it felt a little strange. The little garden I have been taking care of has started growing back. “Careful,” Alex said as he helped me out of the car.“Just lean on me, and I will help you.” He said, and I leaned toward him, letting him lead me inside.I watched as he was taking charge of everything, even inputting my code, and I was in awe. How did he manage to know all these things? I couldn’t remember telling him. Maybe it was Jeremy. But it was so hot watching him take control.I held my breath unconsciously as the door opened, not knowing what to expect. If I was correct, the living room should be bloody and probabl

“You had no right to do it.” I repeated it in a small voice, but that was his undoing. Alex's eyes narrowed in slits, his hands tightened in a fist, and he looked at me with murderous intent.“The fuck I do. What the fuck is wrong with you?” He yelled, his veins popping from his neck.He was so angry that his hands were shaking, and I was suddenly afraid for my life.I knew that he could never hurt me; I was convincing myself that he wouldn't, and that was the only reason I was still standing there confidently.“Alex, take it easy; you are getting angry.” I said in a bid to calm him down, but I should have known that it was only going to aggravate him.“Do not tell me to calm down, Ruby. I can’t believe you decided that leaving me in the dark was the best thing to do.”Now it was my turn to get angry. “Don’t give me that bullshit; I don’t know if you have forgotten, but we are no longer together; we were even on the verge of divorce, and if the judge had granted our request, we would n

The next morning, I was dragging my bags behind me as I went outside. Noah had called yesterday to tell me that he had booked a nice getaway place, but I had asked him to keep it a secret for me to add to the suspense. I went outside, struggling to drag the gigantic bags I had brought along with me. I don’t even know why I brought them when I was sure I was going to be indoors most of the time. However, it was better to come prepared for anything that might happen. Who knows? I could meet the love of my life there, and we may decide to wed there. The black Hyundai was parked in front of my house, and I came out, wearing a cute little sundress and huge sunglasses on my eyes, shielding myself from the fact that I had been crying myself to sleep yesterday. “Miss Ruby?” The driver smiled as he opened the door for me, and I reciprocate the gesture. It felt so weird to smile with all the turmoil going on in my life, but I had to be polite. I entered the vehicle, and it was smooth sailin

The rest of my stay at the beach was beyond magical and simply enchanting. It was just the right thing I needed to get me back on track after the horrible week I had.I could still feel a little pain in my abdomen if I inhaled a lot of air. However, just breathing in the clean, fresh air of the sea and eating good food had the effect of making you feel calm, and right now, I was the most relaxed. It wasn’t a surprise that I didn’t think of Alex throughout that period. I was too busy stuffing myself with fresh fruit and delicious coconut milk to bother myself with him.I enjoyed every aspect of the trip, even the random stargazing, which ended up being a surprise birthday party for one of the guests.Since my early twenties, I have avoided attending parties; I was even further marred the last time I followed Alex to a newly opened bar and had a run-in with an ex-customer.So parties have been a no-no for me.But the one here was so fun; the DJ was going crazy that I have been head bang

My heart skipped a bit as Jeremy said the words, and no, it wasn’t the good type. Whenever I hear the words ‘we need to talk’ it never really ends well, and I don’t know what direction this one was going to take, but I hope it was for good.I entered his office with him, nodding to his secretary before we entered the main office.I carried out a sweeping cheek on the expanse of space, noting a lot of changes since I was here. Now I was feeling like a bad friend; I couldn’t even recall when I last went to his office. He had added more picture frames of himself on the wall, and I must say, he looked good in all of them. He had also changed the color of the wall from all white to a shade of peach.I mean, it wasn’t really an office color, but to each their own. There were so many new changes that I was still trying to wrap my head around when all this happened.I was just cooped up in my little world, oblivious to everything around me, and right now it was costing my friends and relation

I didn’t have the strength to do anything after I came back; I just laid on the bed and cried my eyes out, even when the stomach worms were making noises and demanding to be fed.I laid on the bed with no strength to do anything. How my life turned so drastically in a space of a week is something I am yet to understand. How did I go from having a best friend and possibly a lover to having no one on my side? I don’t even know what to think right now.The thought kept ruminating in my mind, but I couldn’t provide a suitable answer to them. At that instance, I was making a choice. If they want to be gone, then it is their choice. I wasn’t going to grovel and beg for anyone. It was with that resolve that I went to bed, but I was waking up at night when I couldn’t stand it anymore. I fastened the robe on me, putting my legs inside my slippers, and I padded to the living room.I beelined straight for the kitchen, sitting on the stool and helping myself to a bowl of cereal. My eyes narrowed at the cheap impersonation of me, not at all impressed by what I was seeing. “Who are you?” I tried to keep the irritation out of my voice, but it was almost impossible. Her gaze was on me, and she was staring at me with an open mouth, twisting a lock in her hand. Was she dumb? What was so hard to comprehend in the question that I asked that she was taking hours to answer?“Are you deaf, or can’t you respond?" I barked, but I regretted it almost immediately because my forehead flared in pain.I massaged my forehead with my finger, trying to soothe the pain. I was sure she was the one adding to it, because there was no way someone was this dumb. She took one look at me, her pupil widening a bit as she connected the dot, and she was looking back into the room.“Alex? There is a strange woman at the door.” Her voice was shrill and annoying. It was quite similar to those girls that play high school bitches, and it was giving me a major headache. My anger faded into disapp

Honestly, this wasn’t how I imagined the book to end. I still had a lot of ideas, but as I gave it some thought, I knew that I was dragging the plot unnecessarily, and I think Alex and Ruby deserve their happy ending after all they had been through, even though it may not be what you wished for.I have learned that sometimes less is more, and that is what I am looking for in this book.Their future is left for you readers to decide, so be creative and leave a message on how you think they should have ended, and I would be happy to contribute and add my own theory.I want to thank everyone that has been reading the book even up to this point; you are the reason I kept this going.Your comments and gems were really appreciated.I do have a tiny favor for you. • Bound To The Billionaire   Chapter 103

I stood on my tiptoes, and my hands flew up to circle his neck, even as I connected my lips to his. Alex was frozen in place, not expecting my reaction, but the man was quick to recover.I heard a low growl from his belly, and he held my neck, pulling me closer to him. His lips were firm as they pressed against me, the complete opposite of the gentle butterflies that were fluttering in my stomach.Alex pulled back for a split second, his warm breath fanning my skin and sending delicious tingles down my body. He was looking at me with stormy eyes, and I could see nothing but love in his gaze.“Before we go forward, I need your verbal response. I don’t want to have any casual relationships anymore. I am tired of chasing the clouds, and I want something authentic with you. If you are saying yes, that means you are all in.” His eyebrow creased with serious intent as he spoke.I gave it a little thought, even though I already knew what my reply would be. In all honesty, I was tired of this

  • Bound To The Billionaire   Chapter 102

I looked at my phone, squinting at the mail I had just received, just to be sure that it was actually from Alex. Why couldn’t he tell me if they had accepted or rejected our offer in the mail? Did he have to see me face-to-face so he could gloat at my dejected face?He didn’t even give a specific date, so he had expected me to be omniscient and know when I should come. I looked up at the top left-hand corner of my phone, where the time was reading some minutes before one.A flitting thought crossed my mind about how it was so close to time. It took me some seconds to process the information before I was jumping to my feet.He obviously meant today, and if he did, I needed to be extra fast to make it on time. Thank goodness for the little things. I had already taken my bath, so it was going to make things easier.I padded my wardrobe, which was only seen to be overflowing no matter how much I debunk and declutter. I think I was going to have another yard sale so I could create more spa

“Hmm.” Alex’s lips were in a thin line as he looked at me. He finally allowed our eyes to meet, and I wasn’t sure I liked what I was seeing there. They were unreadable and barely giving anything out, and honestly, I didn’t know how to feel about that. But I could feel the huge divide between us, and I had no idea how I was going to mend it.“Alex? I asked a question.” I reminded him when I got no response again.“Yeah, I heard you the first time; I was just wondering why you decided to come to me.” He folded his arms, and I watched as his muscles bulged, giving him a menacing look. But I wasn’t fazed. “Why are you coming to me? What happened to all the numerous investors that gave you the contract? Are they suddenly backing out of the contract?”I whined with each sentence, each sentence delivering a lash on my back, and I shifted in my seat uncomfortably. Alex sure had a way with words, and he knew how best to make it hurt.“I came to you for a reason, Alex.” I said while I practiced

“Hey, I need your help.” I said into the speaker, and I waited, unconsciously holding my breath, to hear his reply. A few seconds had passed, and I didn’t hear anything from him. I was sure he heard me, but I was going to repeat it again to clarify any doubt. “I need your help.”“Yes, I heard you for the first time. What do you need?” No matter how he tried, he couldn’t hide the hostility in his voice, and I was cringing as I heard it.I deserved it. I had hurt him beyond measure, yet I was the one on his phone, seeking his favor.“Uhm, it is a long story, but I think it is better if we meet in person.” I said, my heart pounding in my chest for no apparent reason.I heard the ruffling of pages and a small pause before he replied. “Alright, tomorrow should be fine with me by 6 p.m. I will send you the location.”“Alright, thank you.” He was disconnecting the call even before I even finished talking, and I looked at the blank screen for a moment, wondering where it had all gone wrong.I

“We need to talk.” I spoke into the speaker, and I didn’t care if he had heard me or not, but I disconnected the call and flung my phone on the bed—only carefully, of course. That particular phone had cost me a ton, and I didn’t think I had the strength to replace it just yet. Plus, all of my important information was there; I couldn’t afford to lose it because of a tantrum.I held my head in my hand, cradling it like I would a baby. I wanted to scream out my frustration, bang my head on the wall, or do something crazy. But I couldn’t find the strength to do so.I have never been one to resort to violence if I didn’t have my way. Okay? I was lying, I used to in the past, but I'm a changed person now, and I don’t do such things now.I sat on my bed, unmoving, while I waited for the person on the other end of the phone to come back home. All this time, I was numb, not allowing myself to feel anything, but my brain was still working on how to come up with a solution.I was snapping out o

  • Bound To The Billionaire   Chapter 98

Work began in earnest the next day, which means that we were going to be staying in New York for a great deal of time—well, only Jeremy and I.Charles and Anna had gone back to Seattle as they had a lot of things to do and couldn’t always be here for us.However, I understood how much of a sacrifice they had made to make us reach such levels, and I was never taking it for granted. That was why I was eager to make sure this project was a success. It had to beJeremy and I had rented an Airbnb that would accommodate us during our stay in New York. Nothing fancy though; it was a modest house with 3 bedrooms and well-furnished rooms, and it had all the essentials we needed. We had decided on a 3-bedroom in case we had visitors; they could always stay in the guest bedroom without having to inconvenience anyone. I flew back to Seattle during the weekend just to check on how things were going over there while Jeremy was holding out his end in New York.We had no ongoing project anymore in Se

I held my breath as I opened the door, but I realized too late that it wasn’t him. It wasn’t the one that I dreamed of every waking hour, the one that somehow found a way to occupy my thoughts even though I didn’t want him to.Anna was quick to notice the frown on my face, and frown lines were etched on her face. “Are we interrupting something?” She asked in a worrisome tone, and I was quick to shake my head, denying her claim.“No, of course not. It is fine; please come in.” I said, moving out of the door so she could enter inside. “I had just woken up not so long ago, and it wasn’t to good news.”“Yeah, about that.” She began entering the room and taking up the empty space on the sofa while her husband sat on the only chair that was in the room. “We heard, or rather saw, what happened, and we just wanted to check on you.”“Yeah, Jeremy was just telling me about it, but it is pretty much under control.” I said, shrugging my shoulders. There was no need to start remembering the hurtfu

“What have you done?” Jeremy yelled as he entered my room. I was taken aback by the outburst, and my eyebrows rose in question.“I don’t understand. What happened?” I asked, confusion written all over my face. I had just woken up from a sweet, albeit short, nap, and I was still trying to get my bearings. There was no way I would have done something between those times, except I had a Dopplerganger somewhere who was wreaking havoc when I was sleeping.Thinking of it, if I had a dopplerganger somewhere, I would want to meet with her; maybe we could exchange jobs or something.“Don’t try to play ignorant about this; your face is literally plastered all over the internet.” Jeremy barked, cutting into my thoughts.“Ohkayyy…” I dragged out the words as I was still trying to recall what bad I had done. “I mean, it should be a good thing, right? Some exposure means more opportunities.”Jeremy looked at me. His jaw was hanging low, like he couldn’t believe what I had just said, and I was even m
