EMILY

Someone pushed Portia off me with so much force that she screamed.

I struggled to come pull my head out of the water, forcing the water I had swallowed out of my stomach and trying to clear my lungs.

I looked up to see Amelia holding Portia down and pulling her out of the water. The woman was dumped. Wasn’t it me she should be helping?

I walked offshore with unsteady legs. What just happened?

Amelia held Portia down, her fingers tangled in Portia’s hair as she stared at me with disgust. “You’re pretty but too weak. This tiny thing would never have taken Sarah down so easily.”

“And you have mood swings.” I retorted. She insulted Sarah yesterday, saying she wished Sarah was more like me and now she insulted me that Sarah was stronger. I didn’t take any offense in it though. While she was wrong about Sarah being unable to attract a man, she was right about the fact that I wasn’t as strong as Sarah.
