A miscalculation

I had made a very big mistake.

I went against my words. I told her she would be happiest with me but went ahead to cause her more pain than she had ever imagined, which had been my intention.

But I had made a mistake along the way. The plan was to hurt her and not myself, this was a drastic measure to keep Emily in check, It was for her own good, but somewhere along the way, I had gone too far. Not in the sense of her punishment but in my attachment to her.

It hurt me to see her in pain. Her tears and the sound of her sobs wrapped themselves around my heart like a vice.

She didn’t sleep all through the night and I couldn’t either. I pretended to sleep hoping she would go to sleep but she didn’t.

I was relieved when she stood up at last. That was more like it. She couldn’t be stuck on the floor forever. Tears solved nothing.
