Have you ever felt like your looking at life through a screen, like it's just a hologram that you will never be part of? And you keep wondering aimlessly doing the same things over and over again. That's how I felt as the days went by, slowly getting consumed by the school work, the social anxiety I always hid with a smile and my devastating obsession with Dante. I couldn't help it, this man had such a chokehold on me that I couldn't help but have flashbacks that would leave me hot, sweaty and craving for more of him. Sometimes I'd think about Jason and couldn't help but smile, annoying as he was, I kind of regretted treating him that harshly, he hadn't harmed me in any way and seemed to be pretty decent. Zahira snapped her fingers in my face noticing that I had zoned out.
" Hey heyy, Thandie. Earth to Thandie.""Oh sorry." I said snapping out of my day dream." Literally zoned out there. Who are we thinking about?" Annalise said resting her head on her hand. We were seated in the lecture theatre, waiting for a lecturer and it seemed like he wouldn't show up so basically everybody just dove into conversations to pass the time."I am not thinking about anyone, just some weird encounter I had last weekend." I said adjusting the rings on my finger, a little habit I had." Well tell us." They said in unison and I chuckled at their curiosity. I was sitting in the middle and they huddled close." Well I took care of this drunk guy, he came at my doorstep at four in the morning and passed out in my arms."" Girl, that is so dangerous what if he was a criminal or something. You can't just be opening doors for people like that." Annalise complained. " Tell her Zahira.""Was he hot?" Zahira asked and Annalise rolled her eyes."Yeah, he is pretty good looking. I just let him crash on my couch, fed him and sent him on his way.""Okay, but on a serious note though, don't just open the door for anyone."" Okay okay, I won't do it again."" Well since we are pretty much free from the academic pressure for a week or two. Anyone wanna come to a concert with me?" Annalise asked and I shrugged in agreement knowing I had nothing better to do, Zahira stretched her arms and yawned."Yeah sure."" I'm guessing rock?" I asked knowing Annalise was a big fan of the genre, she said it was soothing, something I wouldn't understand." Of course." She smiled. " I'm not a wuss who listens to kpop like you."" Oh my gosh, a wuss?" I said laughing because I wasn't offended at all. She had always mocked me for loving kpop but I just couldn't help it, yeah everybody thinks kpop is for delusional teenage girls but it made me happy so I really didn't care what people thought." Yes, a wuss. You're coming and you're gonna enjoy some real music."" Okay, okay whatever."" When is this concert anyway?" Zahira asked." It's today."" Today?!"" Yeah, I already bought the tickets like a week ago, trust me guys you are gonna love it!" Annalise squealed with excitement. All dressed up and ready for the concert, we were standing in line waiting to be let in the building. Annalise looked pretty psyched, dressed in a black t shirt with the band's name, A.D.D.I.C.T on it. She had put on electric blue eyeliner to match the band's signature colour and of course she had her mask on. I honestly didn't know what to wear to a rock concert, so I had just put on black which was a pretty obvious colour. It was a short dress and I paired it with black sneakers, Zahira on the other hand wore jeans and a white crop top. When we finally got inside, Annalise practically dragged us to be closer to the stage till we were right next to the barrier, apparently she liked the lead singer and wanted to be as close to him as she could get which was something Zahira and I weren't used to. It wasn't often that you see Annalise go gaga over a guy and to a stranger it would be totally normal but to us it felt weird." Aren't you guys as excited as I am." Annalise shouted over the noise." Definitely." I shouted back. I wasn't lying, the hype was contagious and I couldn't help but be excited, I could see a glimmer of excitement too in Zahira. The lights suddenly went off and five silhouette's showed up on stage, the screams got louder and when the lights came back on, the music started. I never thought in all my life that I would end up vibing to rock music. It was kind of soothing and my friends and I were jumping up and down like crazy people with our arms outstretched so that the lead singer would touch us. He came closer to were we were and when one of the lights hit him, my body went numb with shock. Jason? Jason was the lead singer of the band? He hadn't noticed me yet and honestly I couldn't believe my eyes, now I remember why he had looked so familiar. Annalise had pictures of him on her laptop and posters of him all over her room. The billboards around town had been advertising the concert and Jason was there and I couldn't believe how dumb I was to realize that now. The drunk guy that came at my door was the lead singer of a world famous rock band. Annalise noticed that I had gone quiet." What's wrong?" She shouted over the noise." Nothing. I'm okay."" Then enjoy the concert you wuss." She laughed and we continued vibing to the music while I tried my best to stay invisible. Guess my efforts didn't work because a few moments later Jason met my eyes and he winked at me. Annalise thought he winked at her and she squealed louder than I have ever heard her." He noticed me! He noticed me!" She said. " Jason! I love you! "The music came to a stop." Man, do I love concerts." Jason's voice filled the building. " Lots of pretty girls out here too."Our eyes met again and he smiled. Oh jeez. Finally the concert came to an end and it was time for us to leave. I, honestly was still in shock, as we walked out of the building with people streaming out in clustered groups. " Wasn't that the best concert ever?!" Annalise said she still was as excited as she was before the concert while Zahira and I looked exhausted. " I need sleep." Zahira moaned before resting her head on my shoulder. " Sure, I'll call an uber." I said getting my phone from my purse to call one."Hey you!" A loud voice said behind me, startling me so much that I almost dropped my phone. It was one of the usher's and yes, he was calling out to me. I looked around confused, I didn't think I had done anything wrong."Come with me.""Hey hold up, what did she do wrong?" Zahira said standing between the usher and I."She hasn't done anything wrong, she's just needed inside.""Well we're coming with." Annalise spoke up."No, it's just her." The usher said and I looked around at my friends, I knew who wanted me the
Tears streamed down my eyes as I walked slowly down the street in the pouring rain. The street was empty and lights reflected off the water, rippling on the pavement as I walked. Soaked to the bone, I bit my lip to keep myself from sobbing. Why is it always me? These words echoed in my head as I finally reached my apartment. The second I closed the door, I completely broke down sobbing as loud as I could because I couldn't hold it in any longer. It happened again, the boy I gave everything to was just using me. I gave him everything, my time, my money, my body but it turns out I wasn't the one he wanted. No, he wanted the i*******m model because apparently "he didn't want to ruin our friendship and lose me by dating me" does that make sense? What's even worse is that I had learnt with her in highschool, we even used to sleep in the same dormitory and he knew that!I cupped my face in my hands and leaned on the door. After a while I took out my phone and deleted his number then started
"Are you okay?" My friend, Zahira, asked looking concerned. Her dark eyes focused on me as she tied her long dark hair into a ponytail."Of course I am, why wouldn't I be? I'm just thinking about the assignment that's all." I said quickly. We had just finished our only class for the day and had decided to have lunch at a burger place that was close by. I ran my finger on the familiar scratches on the wooden table as my mind buzzed with annoying thoughts. The place was nothing fancy, it was just comfortable and warm, that's why we loved it so much. It had a friendly atmosphere too, plus the food was really good. Annalise, my other close friend, stared at me and I looked at her confused."What?" I asked."There's something you're not telling us, isn't there Thandie?" She slit her eyes at me. She was pretty intimidating for a petite girl, her dark dreadlocs were tied up in a bun and her gold hooped earrings gleamed in the light. She had on a black mask that she used to cover up the vitili
"It's getting late." He whispered in my ear. My eyes flew open and I sat up while he passed me my clothes. I put them on and he escorted me to the bus stop. The sun was setting and the orange sky grew darker as we walked side by side down the street." Why you so quiet?" He asked." Oh nothing, just thinking." I replied but honestly, my heart felt heavy. I knew coming here was a bad idea. He pulled me out of the road by my waist as a speeding car zoomed past." Get your head out of the clouds Thandie, I didn't screw you that hard did I?" He said smirking and I slipped out of he's grip." Oh please." I scoffed. " I know you won't admit it, I know." He laughed as we finally reached the bus stop and fortunately the bus appeared." See you." He smiled as he helped me on to the bus."Bye." I smiled back. The bus was mostly empty with a handful of people. I sat down at a window seat and leaned against the glass. The steam from my breathe blurring my vision as I stared out the window and reg
