A new life

"I'm not suicidal," Estella informed him.

He shot her a suspicious look but seemed to accept her words. He let her go almost reluctantly and set her to her feet.

She took in the man wryly. He had dark gold hair that had been pushed back from his forehead, dark brown eyes and angular facial features. He was also tall and well built.

He was a striking man, but to Estella, he paled beside the memory of Diego. The thought made her feel irritated with herself.

"Are you heading home?" He asked, "I can give you a ride."

"No, thank you."

He raised a brow at her, "It's about to rain and I don't feel right about leaving you out here."

Proving his words, lightning struck at that moment, and she noticed that the sky had gone dark and heavy.

She ran an unsteady hand through her dark hair, considering her options and coming to the conclusion that she didn't have any.

"I don't even know you," Estella finally replied with a sigh.

His mouth curled up into a smile, "I'm Marco. What's your name?"
