Wedding morning

I woke up the next morning with a pounding headache and dread in the pit of my stomach. Memories of the night before came flooding back to me as I groggily opened my eyes, and I groaned at the thought of my upcoming engagement with Ivan.

My mum walked into the room, carrying a tray with a steaming cup of tea and jolting me out of my thoughts.

"Good morning, love," she said, her tone scolding as she set the tray down on the bedside table. "I see you had a little too much to drink last night."

I winced at her voice. "Mum, I have a headache, besides, it was just champagne," I lied in the last part.

Getting drunk to a stupor was the only way to let myself get lost in the false sense of happiness that came with booze, knowing deep down that I didn't truly want to marry Ivan.

My mum sat down on the edge of the bed and placed a hand on my shoulder.

"Today is a big day for you. You're going to be spending your first night as a married woman in Ivan's bed, making love, and..

this girl is so dumb. run away with someone she actually loves or marry someone who is already cheating on her. the choice is so hard. her family obviously doesn't care about her happiness either.
