81: Trust Is Tested

Avery’s POV

It had been the best two weeks of my life, and it was quite unbelievable as Jamal continued to show me so much care and affection, but then I could not forget the fact that it was about to get serious.

Exhaling sharply I turned and met Jamal’s soft gaze resting on my face, “Jeez! Jamal, you startled me. Why are you staring at me like that?” I asked, trying to catch my breath. There have been many changes in my body and my emotions were all over the place.

“I apologize for making you frightened, but you were so focused on your thoughts you failed to hear me call out to you. Are you okay now? Should I turn down the window if you seem out of breath?” he asked calmly.

Nodding slightly, Jamal quickly pressed a button and the next minute the car was filled with fresh air. Taking in deep breaths I felt a lot better, I really can’t tell why, but I usually experience shortness of breath since I became ten weeks pregnant.
