Aria felt her limbs grow heavier as a strange fog clouded her mind. She blinked slowly, her vision swimming, and tried to focus on the man who had just entered the dimly lit hotel room. Her supposed boyfriend, Ethan, leaned casually against the doorframe, an unsettling smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. The sight of him sent a chill down her spine, and despite the haze overtaking her thoughts, the primal urge to escape surged through her.

She struggled to move, every fiber of her being fighting against the numbing sensation creeping through her veins. Ethan approached her slowly, his eyes gleaming with dark intent. He had drugged her. It was the only explanation for the dizziness, the way her muscles refused to obey her commands.

"Don't fight it, Aria," Ethan murmured in a low voice, his fingers tracing her cheek in a way that made her skin crawl. "You'll be fine. Just relax."

Panic surged through Aria's chest, She could barely lift her arms, but she clawed at the bedsheets, using every ounce of her strength to push him away.

igniting the last bit of energy she had left. She tried to sit up, her movements sluggish and disoriented.

"Please," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "Don't do this."

Ethan chuckled darkly, brushing a lock of her hair behind her ear as if he were doing something tender rather than predatory.

"You're making this harder than it has to be," he said, his grip tightening on her arm as he moved closer. "You should be grateful. After tonight, you'll owe me."

That statement snapped something inside Aria. Through the fog of drugs and confusion, a flicker of clarity cut through. No. She wouldn't let him take advantage of her like this.Fear surged within her, pushing through the fog in her mind as she managed to hit him with the bedstand lamp and kick him in the stomach. With all the strength she could muster, Aria jerked her body away from him, her limbs flailing awkwardly as she attempted to stand.

"Let go of me!" she screamed, her voice cracking with fear and desperation.

Ethan's smirk faltered as she fought back, but he quickly recovered, grabbing her wrist with bruising force.

"You think you can get away from me?" he growled. "You're mine, Aria."

Desperation gave her an adrenaline rush, and somehow, despite the drugs, Aria managed to break free from his grasp. Stumbling toward the door, she nearly tripped over her own feet as the room spun wildly around her. She needed to get out. Now. She wasn't thinking about where she would go or who could help her—all she knew was that she had to escape.

Her breath came in ragged gasps as she threw herself out into the hotel corridor, the cool air momentarily clearing her head. She had no idea where she was going; the world around her felt unreal, like she was trapped in some surreal nightmare. But she had to keep moving. One step. Another.

She sprinted down the hallway, her legs wobbling beneath her, her vision blurring further with each step. Just when she thought she couldn't go any farther, her unsteady steps betrayed her, and she stumbled forward. In that desperate moment, she collided with something firm yet gentle.

A pair of Strong arms wrapped around her, steadying her. Aria blinked up, her vision blurring between the real and the surreal.

Gasping for breath, she looked up at the man she had run into. He was tall, broad-shouldered, and impeccably dressed, his dark hair neatly styled and his features sharp and aristocratic. His eyes were the color of storm clouds, and for a fleeting moment, Aria thought she saw a flicker of recognition in them, though her mind was too clouded to grasp why.For a split second, an image of a boy from her childhood flashed before her eyes

"I—I'm sorry," she whispered, her voice barely more than a breath. "I didn't mean to—"

Before she could finish her sentence, her knees gave way, and she slumped against him, unconscious, the drug finally taking its full toll.

The man stood still, holding her gently in his arms. His brows furrowed as he glanced down at the woman who had just collapsed into him. Something about her was oddly familiar, though he couldn't place why.But her scent...it was hauntingly familiar, stirring something deep within him that he couldn't quite grasp.

"Sir, are you alright?" came the concerned voice of Lucas, his personal assistant, who had been following behind him. wide-eyed and anxious, He had seen his boss's cold demeanor shatter at the mere touch of this stranger, and that was unheard of.

Alexander Sinclair, CEO of Sinclair Enterprises and one of the wealthiest men in the city, glanced over at Lucas, still holding the unconscious woman in his arms.

"I'm fine," Alexander replied, his voice steady but distant, as if he were lost in thought. Lucas wasn't convinced; Alexander had never allowed a woman this close before, much less hugged one in public. But there was something different about this girl—a strange, unexplainable connection that seemed to hold him in place.

Suddenly, a commotion erupted from the entrance. Ethan burst into the lobby, eyes wild as he stormed toward them.

"Aria! Where the hell did you run off to?"

It was the man who had been pursuing her. Alexander's grip on her instinctively tightened as he turned to face the approaching figure. Ethan stormed toward them, his face twisted with rage.

"Let her go," Ethan demanded, his voice low and menacing. "She's my fiancee."

Alexander's eyes narrowed, his expression calm but icy. "I don't think so."

Ethan's gaze shifted from Aria to Alexander, and though he didn't recognize the CEO, he clearly didn't like being defied.

"This isn't your business, buddy," Ethan sneered, stepping closer. "You have no idea who you're dealing with."

Alexander tilted his head slightly, a subtle smile playing at his lips. "Actually, I think it's you who doesn't know who you're dealing with."

As if on cue, a small army of black-clad bodyguards appeared behind Alexander, moving silently and swiftly to flank their boss. Ethan's confidence visibly faltered, but he wasn't ready to back down just yet.

"You don't know what she's done," Ethan said, pointing an accusatory finger at Aria. "She's a manipulative little—"

"Leave," Alexander interrupted, his voice as cold as steel. "Or I'll have you removed."

Ethan glanced nervously at the bodyguards, finally realizing he was outmatched. He scowled but took a step back, issuing one final warning as he retreated down the hallway.

"You'll regret this," he spat. "I'll be back, and when I am, you'll wish you hadn't interfered."

Alexander watched as Ethan disappeared, his anger simmering just below the surface, and his gaze softened slightly as he looked back at the unconscious woman in his arms, wondering how she had gotten herself into this mess—and why he felt such a strong need to protect her.

"Let's go," he said to Lucas. "We need to make sure she's safe."

Lucas followed behind, still in shock at how his boss—known for his intense gynophobia—had reacted so naturally to holding this woman. Something about Aria was different, but Lucas couldn't put his finger on what it was.

As they walked away, Alexander couldn't shake the nagging feeling that he had known Aria from somewhere before. But from where? And why couldn't he remember? For reasons he couldn't yet explain, he wasn't about to let her go. Not now. Not ever.

Aria's eyes fluttered open, the faint light streaming in through unfamiliar curtains making her blink in confusion. She groaned, her head still spinning from the events of the previous night. She slowly sat up, panic filling her as the memory of being drugged and chased by her ex-boyfriend Ethan flooded her mind. With shaky hands, she quickly checked her body for any signs of abuse. A sigh of relief escaped her when she realized her clothes were still intact, and there were no obvious signs that anyone had taken advantage of her while she was unconscious."Where am I?" she muttered, taking in her surroundings. The luxurious room she found herself in was nothing like the dingy hotel where she had struggled against Ethan. The bed was plush, the furniture modern and sleek. She glanced around the room, taking in the lavish decor—the silk curtains, the expensive art on the walls, and the faint scent of fresh flowers that filled the air. This was no ordinary hotel room; it was a suite fit f

Aria's heart pounded as she stood frozen in place, expecting the worst. She was certain she had been caught, her disguise as a maid failing her. "The lady of the house has been waiting for assistance in the courtyard. Do not keep her waiting any longer."Relieved but cautious, Aria nodded and quickly followed the other maid, her mind racing with questions. She had narrowly escaped suspicion, but she wasn't safe yet. As they reached the sunlit courtyard, Aria's eyes immediately fell on an elderly woman seated gracefully on a plush chair surrounded by blooming flowers. "Aria, the adoptive daughter of Samuel," Alexander Sinclair said, his voice cold and unwavering as he glanced down at the folder spread open on his desk. "Your adoptive father is a known gambler. He owes a substantial amount of debt, forcing him to borrow money from several dangerous sources. To pay off those loans, you've had to work multiple jobs at once, barely scraping by."Aria felt a surge of anger rise within her, her hands balling into fists at her sides. She had been through enough—working long hours just to survive—yet here was this man, sitting behind his desk with an air of power, throwing her past in her face as if it were nothing."You investigated me," Aria spat, her eyes narrowing with frustration. “Young Master, perhaps I have a suggestion. Maybe we should visit the police station. Ask about the case file, what do you think? It might hold more information.” Lucas said as they drove through different streets. “You’re right. Mrs Smickums said something about the past sheriffs not being available but the case file would surely be available. Let’s got to the police station then.” The driver turned the car around, the ride to the police station was simple. He didn’t have any memories on this road, that was understandable. It wasn’t like he must have frequented the police station as a child. Alexander sat with his hands on his knees, his mind racing about the possibility of knowing everything at once. “Sir, we’re here.” The driver announced as he pulled into the driveway of the police station. “I’ll find somewhere to park sir.”Alexander and Lucas exited the car, Alexander’s migraine was back now, persistent as always. “Are you okay sir?” Lucas asked. “The migraine is back, let’

Lucas was seated at the dining table, his laptop was open and his phone was connected with a short cord, he scrolled through his laptop trying to find the app that could decipher the now deleted call logs from the phone. “Young Master, I’m almost done,” Lucas said, his eyes remaining on the screen. “I just need a few more minutes.” Alexander rubbed his hand over his face. “I don’t know what I’m feeling but it feels like every second we waste is another moment for Hensley to continue doing whatever the fuck he’s doing to Aria right now. She’s somewhere out there and we don’t know where…” Lucas kept on working. “Young Master, we’re doing everything we can to make sure that we find her. I understand your worry and I will make sure we find her as quickly as possible. Hensley and Ethan will rot in jail for this.” Alexander exhaled sharply, the dull ache of his migraine was adding to his anger and frustratio

Frieda walked into the bathroom of her hospital room with the phone. “Excuse me! You could just hold on. I’d be done with the phone before you’re done changing the sheets and then I’ll return it to you. I just want to pee.” Frieda told the nurse before closing the door behind her. The nurse nodded and left to get the new set of sheets for the bed.Frieda sat on the toilet seat, her fingers trembling as she called Hensley. She pressed the phone to her ear and waited, the phone rang and her stomach turned with unease. After another call, Hensley picked, once again giving the caller a silent treatment as only the sound of his breathing could be heard. “It’s me, Frieda.” She said, “Frieda, this better be important.” Hensley said, his voice betraying the impatience.“It is very important.” She replied, glancing below the door to be sure no one was lurking outside. “Alexander told me they want to leave the hospital and go back to his home. As soon as Alexander and Lucas exited the hospital building, leaving the noise of nurses and the staff, they exchanged a knowing look. Alexander was the first to break the silence. “That woman in there,” he said in a heavy tone, “that woman…” he shook his head. “is not Aria.” Lucas looked as though his brain was calculating different equations at the same time. He didn’t interrupt Alexander. “I knew it from the moment we rescued her,” Alexander continued. “She may have looked, and even sounded like Aria but her mannerisms, even the way she looked at me. Something felt different… wrong even. But I couldn’t quite explain it because of the glaring similarities.” He said, running a hand through his hair. “She called me darling, Aria told me she hated that because it sounded patronizing and fake and didn't like saying it either. Then she said she used perfume, Aria doesn’t even like using perfumes. Now I can safely say my gut was right Lucas. My heart wasn’t at ease, like Aria was still

“Thank you, Can I please ask you for a favor?” Frieda asked the nurse who came in to check in on her. The nurse smiled from ear to ear, their head of operations at the hospital had gotten a whiff of the fact that this woman was the wife of a multi billionaire and she was married into a very influential family. There was a whole meeting addressing all staff to be the nicest to them no matter what. “Sure. What do you need?” The nurse asked. “Your phone, I need to make a call and it seems mine got misplaced after I was kidnapped.” Frieda said, hoping that the last tidbit about her kidnap would make the nurse more sympathetic and susceptible to her. “Oh. We’re not allowed to hold on to our phones during working hours. That’s why I only have my pager on me but if you give me some minutes. I could dash down to the locker room and get it for you.” The nurse replied. She genuinely felt bad for her, being rich had its own issues. One could get into problems like kidnap and blackmail just

They arrived at the hospital to find Aria sitting up in bed, she looked too composed for someone who was recovering. Alexander noticed the empty sushi disposable plates in a corner, he offered her a small smile. Lucas wanted to verify beyond reasonable doubt that it was Aria that ate the meal. “Young mistress, did you eat the sushi?”“Yes. Thanks for everything. It was so good, I really enjoyed it.” She replied softly. Alexander looked at Lucas who understood what the words didn’t convey. There was something different about young mistress, as if she was a completely different person. “By the way, this perfume you have on. It’s a bit different, I think it smells a bit musky than usual.” Alexander said. “Oh no darling. I use the exact same perfume, I haven’t changed it” Frieda said, not understanding the trick question. There was no way Dr. Hensley would have told her what scent Aria uses so she had to just feign her way through. “Oh okay. I guess it’s the smell of the hospital mak

Alexander felt a lot better thanks to the medication the doctor had recommended. Although he had slept in an armchair in Aria’s hospital room, the migraine had reduced and he felt more alert. He decided to take a cold shower at the apartment, the cold water cascading down his body was way better than the last time. He could feel now and enjoy every moment of it. Alexander wished that he could be underneath the jet spray for even longer but they had places to be. Lucas knocked on the door just as Alexander got out of the shower. “Young Master? We might need to hurry a bit, we still have to get breakfast for young mistress before we track down Mrs. Smickums.” Alexander spoke through the door. “Yeah. I’ll be right out Lucas.” Lucas was already by the door when Alexander came out, they proceeded to enter the vehicle. “Is there a sushi place around here or any Chinese restaurant?“ Alexander asked “Yeah, there is one but it’s pretty far off. As they arrived at the Pharmacy, Lucas came down from the vehicle to go into the pharmacy to get the medication. We stayed with my grandmother before she passed, and I’ve been here ever since.” “If you don’t mind me asking, how old are you?” Alexander wondered if maybe he could have some information about people in the town. “Oh! I’m 23 sir. But because I play rugby, people say I look older.” “Mmmm,” Alexander said, the kid is too young to know anything about me. He probably hasn’t been here for more than ten years, Alex thought. He watched as Lucas approached the car with a small bag. It had the migraine medication. Frieda was alone in the hospital room now; she had asked some of the nurses to help her locate her purse, which they did. They had gotten it back to her, she opened the small black purse, looking at the door of her room to be sure that Alexander and Lucas weren’t on their way in. The relief of finding the vials before she had to spray them on again was short-lived because she took a look inside and found that two of the vials were shattered. The liquid is absorbed into the material of the purse. “Shit! No. No.” She muttered under her breath, her hands trembling in panic. She put her hands in and found that the remaining two were still intact but this meant one thing. She had reduced her timetable by half and she had to call Hensley. I need to hold it together, there’s still time. Hensley could find a way to get me another one, She thought. Soon enough, she heard some footsteps; she had to put on the scent again before Alexander returned. She took one of the vials and twisted it op
