Dr. Hensley knew exactly what he needed to do now, wait for the one thug who had accompanied Aria to arrive but he had to make sure that the other one didn’t suspect that he had ratted out the rest of their team’s location to the police. He heard the chime of his phone, he quickly checked the notification. Aria had arrived on the private dock, their only means of transporting an unconscious individual was to disguise as a fake ambulance. As the fake ambulance came through, he went outside in preparation. The goon brought in Aria, Dr. Hensley almost did a dance in joy. He immediately got in his element. The goon pushed in the gurney, “I sent the others a text but I haven’t heard back from them. You might want to alert them that the cargo is already here.” He told Dr. Hensley. Dr. Hensley simply nodded and told him he would do that but he had to stick to the plan and leave with the ambulance quickly. As soon as the ambulance left the location, Dr. Hensley locked down the laboratory.
As soon as the police officers took over the motel, Alexander and Lucas followed in. There was no way that Alexander would let them rescue his Aria when he wasn’t there. He clenched his fists, forcing himself to steady his emotions. He knew Aria was here but he hoped she was in one piece and hadn’t been harmed. They had grabbed both goons already and they were about to go into the room. As the officers forced down the door with a swift kick. The door landed weakly. Inside the room, what Alexander saw was even worse than he imagined. He noticed Aria in a chair, tied, her face was bruised and her lips swollen, a piece of cloth over her face. She was unconscious. But the sound of people rushing into the room roused her and she slowly looked around, he could see tears filling her eyes. Alexander rushed to her side and held her as an officer cut through her restraints. He froze as he held her, something felt off in his heart. She whimpered in pain and he removed the cloth from her mouth
The hospital room was stuffy with gifts, word had gotten round about Janet’s ‘health’ scare. Janet sat at the edge of her bed, she was looking through the cards of people sending their love. Her sister Mandy sat beside her, she was glancing at her watch, obviously impatient. Her jaw was shut tight in anger. She didn’t like wasting time with things. The door creaked open slowly and the doctor stepped, he was holding a folder with test results. His face was calm but cautious, as he knew he was in the presence of another Doctor. A renowned one at that, he had to choose his words carefully. “Well, good morning ma’am.” He said then be flipped open the folder. “How was your night? I hope you weren’t having any more chest pains?” He asked Janet. “No, I think I’m feeling better but it seems like the chest pains come and go.” Janet said, looking at her sister. “Alright. Your test results are in and there’s nothing immediately life threatening but we did notice some irregularities between wh
Alexander was still waiting for news from the doctors. He paced the entire waiting area, back and forth. Lucas arrived at the hospital and walked up to Alexander. “Young Master, the thugs have been booked for kidnap but they still can’t find Ethan sir.” Lucas said. “Lucas, I believe you know me too well, I do not accept excuses, make sure they find Ethan even if it takes hiring private investigators. He can’t be that hard to miss, we need to figure out who else was involved in this.” “Yes, young master. I’ll make sure of it.” Lucas said as he brought out his phone to make some calls. The doctor came out at this point, walking straight to Alexander. “She’s doing okay. She’s in stable condition. She was beaten up a bit but thankfully she had no internal injuries from the beating and she’ll be fine. We would advise though that she get some rest, a couple of days in the hospital. That way we can monitor her and make sure that she’s good. The police said she’s in an active investigatio
Alexander and Lucas drove to the apartment they had rented for Aria, it wasn’t a long drive from the hospital. They arrived at the apartment, Harriet the manager handed over the keys to Lucas. “I hope Mrs Aria is okay?” Harriet asked. “Yeah. She is recovering just fine.” Lucas replied. He opened the door of the rented apartment. He moved around, putting the light luggage they had brought into the space. Alexander went straight for the room where Aria had barely unpacked her bag before the incident. He picked up one of her tops and held it to his nose. He smelt it and felt more comfortable, his migraine was still banging. He looked around the room, Lucas came in and wanted to help with Aria’s bag. “No, leave it. I’ll handle unpacking her stuff.” Alexander ordered. Lucas nodded and returned to the living room. Alexander smelt her top again and he wondered, why he felt like there was something off with Aria now. He knocked the thought out of his head.He unpacked some of her clothe
Frieda was alone in the hospital room now; she had asked some of the nurses to help her locate her purse, which they did. They had gotten it back to her, she opened the small black purse, looking at the door of her room to be sure that Alexander and Lucas weren’t on their way in. The relief of finding the vials before she had to spray them on again was short-lived because she took a look inside and found that two of the vials were shattered. The liquid is absorbed into the material of the purse. “Shit! No. No.” She muttered under her breath, her hands trembling in panic. She put her hands in and found that the remaining two were still intact but this meant one thing. She had reduced her timetable by half and she had to call Hensley. I need to hold it together, there’s still time. Hensley could find a way to get me another one, She thought. Soon enough, she heard some footsteps; she had to put on the scent again before Alexander returned. She took one of the vials and twisted it op
As they arrived at the Pharmacy, Lucas came down from the vehicle to go into the pharmacy to get the medication. Alexander and the driver were left in the car“Did you grow up in this town?” Alexander asked. “No sir. I grew up in New York. I moved here as a teenager with my mom. We stayed with my grandmother before she passed, and I’ve been here ever since.” “If you don’t mind me asking, how old are you?” Alexander wondered if maybe he could have some information about people in the town. “Oh! I’m 23 sir. But because I play rugby, people say I look older.” “Mmmm,” Alexander said, the kid is too young to know anything about me. He probably hasn’t been here for more than ten years, Alex thought. He watched as Lucas approached the car with a small bag. It had the migraine medication. As they drove back to the hospital, all Alexander wanted to do was sleep. Every other thing could happen tomorrow but for today, he just needed to rest. They arrived back at the hospital, the driver sig
Alexander felt a lot better thanks to the medication the doctor had recommended. Although he had slept in an armchair in Aria’s hospital room, the migraine had reduced and he felt more alert. He decided to take a cold shower at the apartment, the cold water cascading down his body was way better than the last time. He could feel now and enjoy every moment of it. Alexander wished that he could be underneath the jet spray for even longer but they had places to be. Lucas knocked on the door just as Alexander got out of the shower. “Young Master? We might need to hurry a bit, we still have to get breakfast for young mistress before we track down Mrs. Smickums.” Alexander spoke through the door. “Yeah. I’ll be right out Lucas.” Lucas was already by the door when Alexander came out, they proceeded to enter the vehicle. “Is there a sushi place around here or any Chinese restaurant?“ Alexander asked “Yeah, there is one but it’s pretty far off. We can order it and it gets delivered to wh
Dr. Hensley stood over Aria, watching her as she lay unconscious. She tapped her fingers on the steel table beside her gurney. Her face was getting paler but there was nothing that he could do about that, he couldn’t let her wake up anytime soon. The intravenous drip that supplied nutrients was basically just to make sure that she was getting enough nutrients to stay alive and healthy to an extent. His phone buzzed on the work counter, he moved to pick it up, it was a text. “Alexander and I arrive tomorrow. Don’t forget the gift.” A smile spread across his lips, things were working out rather well. The only plan left was how to eventually exchange Aria for Frieda when he was done with her. Hensley checked the machines monitoring Aria’s vitals. They showed that she was steady, though she was noticeably weaker than she had been a short while ago. He wasn’t too concerned with her, she could last a little longer and as long as she was stable, he would keep up his work. The only thing

“We’re heading back to the city, she comes with us tomorrow whether she’s on board or not.” Alexander said as they passed through the hallway. As they approached Frieda’s room, Alexander moved his shoulders, masking whatever emotion he was going through before putting on a practiced calm. He felt Lucas’s eyes on him, always watching in case he was needed to come in. When they entered, Frieda was seated by the window of her room, the remnants of her meal on the side table of the bed and the note that Alexander had sent her earlier neatly folded by the tray. She looked up with a smile Alexander knew was too perfect, her eyes lit up at the sight of them. “You’re back,” she said softly, her tone laced with a sweetness that Alexander knew was a lie. “Of course, I told you I’d be back.” Alexander replied, stepping closer to her. “I’m sorry I’m late though.” Lucas stayed in the corner of the hospital room, watching intently but making sure he wasn’t obvious. “So, how are you feeling ri
The case file in his hands, Alexander placed it on his lap not knowing if he should quite go through it in the car or at the apartment. Lucas looked through the mirror at Alexander, noticing the tension, Alexander had looked like he was going to rip through the whole case file just moments ago but now his hands hovered over it, hesitant. “Young Master, do you want to look at it now or wait until we get to the apartment perhaps?” Lucas finally asked, breaking the silence in the car.Alexander didn’t answer immediately, he let go of all the air in his lungs, as he traced the edges of the case file. “I think I’d prefer to look at it when we get to the apartment.” He said in a low tone “I don’t think I can do this in the car.” Lucas nodded, “Drive to the apartment…” he mentioned to the driver. Back at the apartment, Lucas looked on as Alexander sat on the table with the case file, the paper looked crisp. The title on the first page read: “Alexander Sinclair - Missing Child Report, 19
The underground laboratory smelled of sweat and chemicals as Dr. Hensley wiped his brow of sweat. His hands trembled slightly, the paralyzed goon lay slumped on the floor near his workbench. The body of the guy was a dead weight that was becoming more trouble for Hensley. “Damn it! You could have tried to attack me towards that area, that way it would have been easier to move you.” Hensley complained. He gripped the man under the arm and attempted to lift him but the man’s size and bulk made the task almost impossible, but Hensley had no choice but to keep trying. Even though no one would stumble on the body in the laboratory, he liked to be able to move easily around his own side of the laboratory. “You could have just left or better still put a call through. I’d have paid you and moved on but now look at you.” He grumbled to the goon on the floor, he dragged the limp figure toward the corner of the lab. The man’s head lolled left and right as he blinked slowly, the only indicatio
Back at the diner, Alexander, Lucas and the driver were finishing their meal when the driver wiped his mouth with a napkin and cleared his throat. “Sir, if I may say something, I might have a suggestion….” Alexander looked up from his meal, a bit intrigued. “Okay. A suggestion about what?” “Well,” the driver started. “I’ve been in the car with you on your different outings since you got here and I hope I’m not overstepping but if you’re trying to jog your memories, there are a couple of inner places that might help.” “Okay. What types of places are you talking about?” “Old places, There’s the old townhouse on Elm Street, it’s still standing and then there’s also the town school. People use the path through the schoolyard to get to the football field so it could be worth a look.” Lucas took a glance at Alexander. “What do you think?”Alexander wiped his mouth with a napkin before nodding. “It’s worth a try.” Lucas sorted the bill and they headed out, the afternoon sun added a la
As soon as they were back in the car and driving off, Alexander’s curiosity piqued, it got the better of him. He tore open the evidence bag and dug out the wallet. “Let’s see what we’ve got here,” Alexander muttered, flipping open the wallet. His eyes immediately found the driver’s license. “Frieda Bane,” he said. “Young Master, do you have an ID?” Lucas asked, turning around in his seat. “Yeah. Her driver’s license. Her name is Frieda Bane,” Alexander repeated, passing the license to Lucas at the front seat.Lucas wasted no time in pulling out his laptop. “Sir, you might want to search for the phone the deputy Sheriff spoke of.” Lucas said, as he quickly typed the name onto his laptop. Alexander dipped his hand right back into the evidence bag and brought out a phone, truly a face like Aria was covered in heavy makeup as the screen saver. He passed the phone to Lucas and collected the driver’s license, he put it back in its position and continued to sift through the wallet. The
“Young Master, perhaps I have a suggestion. Maybe we should visit the police station. Ask about the case file, what do you think? It might hold more information.” Lucas said as they drove through different streets. “You’re right. Mrs Smickums said something about the past sheriffs not being available but the case file would surely be available. Let’s got to the police station then.” The driver turned the car around, the ride to the police station was simple. He didn’t have any memories on this road, that was understandable. It wasn’t like he must have frequented the police station as a child. Alexander sat with his hands on his knees, his mind racing about the possibility of knowing everything at once. “Sir, we’re here.” The driver announced as he pulled into the driveway of the police station. “I’ll find somewhere to park sir.”Alexander and Lucas exited the car, Alexander’s migraine was back now, persistent as always. “Are you okay sir?” Lucas asked. “The migraine is back, let’
Alexander and Lucas had returned to the apartment, they sat in the living room. Lucas was seated at the dining table, his laptop was open and his phone was connected with a short cord, he scrolled through his laptop trying to find the app that could decipher the now deleted call logs from the phone. “Young Master, I’m almost done,” Lucas said, his eyes remaining on the screen. “I just need a few more minutes.” Alexander rubbed his hand over his face. “I don’t know what I’m feeling but it feels like every second we waste is another moment for Hensley to continue doing whatever the fuck he’s doing to Aria right now. She’s somewhere out there and we don’t know where…” Lucas kept on working. “Young Master, we’re doing everything we can to make sure that we find her. I understand your worry and I will make sure we find her as quickly as possible. Hensley and Ethan will rot in jail for this.” Alexander exhaled sharply, the dull ache of his migraine was adding to his anger and frustratio
