POV

Sitting on the hilltop I admire the sun. It’s rained for weeks now and finally having some sun out is a blessing. I love bringing Elliot out here on the weekends.

A smile spreads across my face as I look out at the trees and grass surrounding me. I get up and walk down the hill. Elliot should be home by now; I should prepare lunch.

As the wind picks up, I listen to the rustling of the leaves. It’s peaceful here. I’ve lived here for the past five years and although I miss my family, I’m happy and at peace here. The constant looking over your shoulder, living in fear. I loved how I could be out in an open field and not fear for my life.

I’ve called Bantry my home for the past five years, when my family disowned me, my grandmother took me in, and I’ve lived here ever since. Bantry is a small town on the southwest coast of County Cork, Irland. With a population of 2722 not much goes on here. And I love it.
