Denise looked at Alex and she didnt have an excuse. She was good grifter just that Alex seemed to see right through her and she actually liked the other girl. A lot, in fact. She didn't want to lie plus she didn't want to turn down free lunch. Ansel wasn't here and she didn't have anything to fear.

Nevertheless, given the option of going out for lunch with Alex or taking her to her house, Denise obviously preferred the former. How could she let Alex know that she lived in the slums of Lorace?

Yes, her house looked better now but imagine making Alex jump over the sewer lines and the smelly heaps of garbage in her expensive high heels!
