Chapter 96- Advent of Trouble
Horr was excited. The medical personnel rushed to the wrestlers' aid, hoping to save at least one life. That was what they were paid to do anyway while Horr announced the winner.
"Ladies and Gentlemen! The first match of tonight has been concluded." He raised his voice a pitch. "And your winner, by a surprising deathly knockout, the crazed underdog, the ball crushing demon..."Vox shook his head as Horr eulogized Wilson. This overly enthusiastic host was going to ruin Wilson's reputation beyond salvaging."... WILSON!" Horr shouted.The crowd raised their voices and yelled excitedly. Some cursed. They were the ones who had placed their bet on Dash and lost some money.Jim's and Vox's phones dinged. Jim quickly grabbed both and looked at them simultaneously and then, he beamed widely. It was early morning, about three hours before dawn. Jim and Vox stood outside the door and looked at Wilson who was holding a space backpack filled with his clothes and shoes. Jim sighed and said sadly, a little disappointed in himself."I'm truly very sorry, Wilson." He apologized for the umpteenth time. He kept feeling like it was somewhat his fault. "I wish I could help you but I can't. Helping you will only bring trouble to everyone else. I hope you survive and find your own place where you truly belong."Vox looked around and glanced back at his phone. On it was written a single message from Bar: 'Good to go! Make it quick!' "What? Oh! Hello." Wilson greeted. Initially, he was confused. Luckily, he got his bearings fast enough otherwise, the lady would not have hesitated to smack his head in a bid to jog his memory. He stood up and extended his hand for a shake."Hello, I am..." He started."Don't bother!" She cut him off. "I am not interested in knowing who you are. You look tired. You should sleep for a while. Journey will take about four hours. At worst by noon, you should have been dropped. Do you understand?""Yes ma'am!" Wilson answered, nodding his head vigorously. There was something about her that gave him scary vibes."Good boy. Till then, don't disturb me!" She said and leaned back on the chair and dozed off.Wilson looked around. There were three rows of chairs arranged with spaces for movement interspersed in between each of them. The lady sat on the rightmost side, next to the door and so, he chose to sit down on one of the foremost at the other side; the left side.He groaned as he sat down.

Wilson followed the map and if he was doing it right - which he was sure he was - he ought to arrive there by the next morning. Wait, no, probably afternoon since it was already dusk and he didn't think it was a good idea to keep moving after dusk. He needed to find a shelter quickly. He walked as quietly as he could while he looked around. He had watched a few videos about surviving in the woods. For shelter, he knew he had no chance of making himself a tent. Might as well, find a tree that he could climb and camouflage in to spend the night. He walked on for quite a distance and came upon a set of trees that might serve his purpose. In fact, in the distance, he saw a tree that called to him, but there was a problem. For inevitable reasons, he would not be able to avoid stepping on the leaves and twigs that was everywhere on the ground. Wilson and the big brother spent the consequent three hours, killing, skinning, cutting up and cooking the gigantic flesh of the squirrel over a spitfire.The big brother who had introduced himself as Dash - much to the trepidation of Wilson - was very good at it. Or perhaps, there was already something lurking and waiting for the perfect opportunity. Whichever way, it was still thankfully quiet. *Bang* *Bang* *Bang*Sounds of gunshots rang out, echoing through the forest. Perhaps to some people who might have heard it; someone was hunting a beast. But to the shooter, he was hunting a young maturing, good-looking human being. Wilson ran to the other side another tree as quickly as he could. He had identified the tree the sniper was on and using the dark shadows of the trees, he ran towards the tree, weaving his way in a roundabout manner; using the trees in his surroundings as cover. He temporarily stopped and squatted behind two close trees. He tried to use the little space in between to peep at the direction the sniper shot at. The tree he thought the sniper was on wasn't the one.The issue was the sniper was keeping his eyes on him and never once blinked. Wilson noticed that the sniper had stopped shooting everything like a fool but he did not stop. He used one hand to dig up more and more plants and sand and randomly threw it up in the air.Then, without any warning, depending solely on his amateurish battle instincts and the experience he had gained from escaping death time and time again, he dashed out of hiding and made a beeline towards a tree that he believed; blocked the sniper's line of sight. He got there and his behind the tree but the sniper had noticed him. He just chose to save his bullet until he was sure to get a clean shot. 'He did not notice me. That's good! He is losing focus. Of course, such things have to be exhausting.' Wilson spoke to himself, not daring to say it out and merely thinking it in his head. Unbeknownst to him, he was only half-right.While the sniper was exhausted, he also had quite the experience and had long trained himself to maintain his focus regardless of his level of fatigue.
