Alpha Zach arrived home tired, as usual. The Butler greeted him at the door, and he hummed in response, took off his jacket, hung it, and walked to the living room.
He doesn't fancy going back home, but he knows he has to do it because he is a family man.
A trace of disapproval flashed across his eyes the moment he sat on the couch.
His mind traveled to the past, and the moment he would arrive home, Wendy would run to the door to welcome him. She would help him take off his coat and even ask him how his day was.
Even though he would elbow her aside and remain mute to her sweet greetings, she would still swallow her pain and continue maintaining a smile on her face.
When he arrives at the table, he will find his evening snacks already freshly baked for him and waiting for him at the dining table.
He would also find magazines of the day arranged there for him in case he wanted to go through them while leisurely sipping on his coffee and munching on his snack.
Most of all, the house always contained a certain warmth, a warmth that even the Butler had failed to achieve when he asked him to make sure that the house was always warm.
Although the house was cozy, it was chilling. The silence in there wasn't the most comfortable one, but it pissed him off.
A beautiful maid came in with a tray of coffee and snacks. He took magazines from his briefcase and placed them on the table, beside the snack tray. He took a sip, then a bite, and his lips curled in disgust.
That's not what he expected! Yes, the snack and tea were his favorites, but they didn't taste the way he wanted. As much as he wanted to fling everything on the table at the girl's face, he had to maintain his calm. "You may leave now." He dismissed her.
Only God knows how many restaurants he has visited in the past five years.
Although he had paid a visit to almost all of them, none of them could serve him what he wanted, or, in other words, they served him what he wanted, but...
They never tasted the way he expected them to. Finally, he gave up and had his food cooked at home. As long as his stomach was full, he could endure.
“Honey, can I have five hundred dollars, please? There is this new purse I want to buy.“ A voice jarred him from his half-conscious state of mind.
That was when he realized there was someone in the living room, bundled up on the couch.
He lifted his head from his meal, stared at the bundle with lips curled with disgust, and then scoffed, "You already bought a purse yesterday, Venessa; what more do you need?"
He wasn't short of money, but he couldn't understand why Venessa spent five hundred dollars every single day.
“That was another brand, and this time I really, really need this brand.“ She pouted, unbundling herself from the couch and coming to him.
Alpha Zach pinched his brows, then answered, "You said the same thing yesterday."
"I know, but..." She pushed the tray and cup of tea aside, tossed the magazine he was reading, and sat on his lap, planting a kiss on his neck.
“Venessa," he called, then pushed her off his lap. "You do know that I would give you money even without selling yourself to me."
Venessa gasped,"sell? What are you talking about, honey? We are husband and wife, and it's my duty to"
She was cut off. "Mmh, and you do your duty when you want money. Is that not selling, Venessa?" He raised his brow at her.
“Please, please.“ She started acting cute, pouting her lips outward, thinking Alpha Zach was teasing her.
Getting tired of her acting all cute, Alpha Zach rolled his eyes and placed a black card on her palm. "Go buy whatever purse you want. In fact, you can keep it.“
“Really?“ She asked in shock. She had wanted to keep it from the beginning, but he wouldn't let her. "Thank you so much.“ She squealed and spread her arms to hug him, but Alpha Zach politely shook his head in denial.
“You don't need to thank me. That is what you had been after, after all.“ He smiled at her, even though his words had a second meaning.
If it were not for the fact that Venessa was a bumkin blinded by riches, she would have understood what he had meant.
Venessa walked back and bundled herself on the couch after telling Zach that she would go out later to shop for her new purse, of course.
Zach was already used to Venessa's nature; he mumbled an okay and went upstairs since he had lost his appetite.
He sighed heavily and slumped onto the bed. With his eyes staring at the ceiling, he smiled bitterly, then shook his head as if getting rid of some Half an hour later, he stripped off his clothes and started adding to the bathroom.
Cold shower. That was all he needed to get back to his mood again. While heading to the bathroom, he caught sight of something on the side table.
It was a black card. Different from the one given to Vennesa, this was unique.
It wasn't popular because no one could have it. Only a few elites, him being one of them, had been invited to apply for it eight years ago.
It happened to be the time he was getting married to Wendy, and since he thought she was married to him because of money, he tossed it to her.
The funny part was that no notification had ever beeped into his phone, implying that it was used.
She had never used it.
He only came to be aware of that after she died. He was helping the butler clean the mansion he had bought her when he saw it lying on the ground.
It was that moment that he picked it up when he knew she was never a golddigger because if she really were, she would have used the card several times.
It was because of that card that he started doubting himself and asking himself questions.
Was she really who she was painted to be? She was a gold-digger because she was married to him; a killer because she pushed her mother off a building; a slut because she brought men home; and a thief because she stole his most expensive things and sold them in second-hand stores.
These questions led him to investigate all these accusations, and he only got a huge blow on the face.
There were all lies—pure lies.
“If only I could apologize to you, Wendy, if only.“ He mummered, dragging himself to the bathroom.
At Zach Junior's school.
The driver responsible for taking Zach Junior from school found him standing beside the gate, his little hands folded across his chest, and his thin lips curled up into angry pouts.
As long as the driver wanted to ask, he forced himself to shut his lips. Zach Junior was a demon in disguise. Foul-mouthed, rude, arrogant, and...
“James, will you take me home or stand there gazing at space?“ A sharp, stern voice asked from behind him.
James turned around only to see Zach Junior already in his seat, curled up like a ball, his eyes glowing red in his direction. “I'll be taking you home, young master Zach,” he responded, rushing to his seat and driving off.
It was always hard to get him off the car whenever they reached home, but not this time. Zach Junior came out of the car all by himself and rushed inside the house.
His habit of greeting his mom, who was known for spending all her day on the couch, curled up inside cute blankets, hugging stuffed animals, and barking orders at the servants, was even neglected today.
Venesa raised her head from the pillow and stared at the disapering figure of his son. She then titled her head to look at the door. “James, what happened to him today? Did he lose a fight or something?“
“I don't know Luna Venessa. Maybe you should go and check him up because that is unusual of young master Zach.“ James responded but got no response from Venesa.
Her eyes were stuck on the big screen in front of her, and her whole attention was preoccupied by it. Typical Venessa! She never cared about their young master, despite being his mother.
Hours passed by quickly, and finally the whole family sat down for their evening meal. Four faces, one belonging to Alpha Zach, another belonging to Luna Vennesa, the other from Alpha Hilton Zach's father, and the last belonging to Luna Kesha Zach's mother, stared at Zach Junior.
He hadn't touched his food since he walked to the dining table. All he had been doing was stabbing his food.
“Did anything happen today at school?“ Alpha Zach, although cold, asked in a caring voice. He knew Zach Junior as someone with a big appetite, so it was odd for him to not eat. The foods dressed on the table were all his favorites.
“Did Miss Eva do you wrong?“ Kesha asked, but received the same silence.
“Fine,” she said at last. "Let's talk about it when you are ready, okay? But for now, eat something because that will make your grandmother happy.“ She smiled caringly at him, scooping some soup from the hotpot and filling his eating bowl.
After a single spoonful of soup, Zach Junior raised his head to look at Keisha. "Grandmother, you said demons aren't real.“
Shocked since she didn't expect such a thing to bother her grandson, she parted his head and responded, "Yes, honey. Demons aren't real, even though books and television try as much as they can to bring them to life.“
“You do know lying is bad, right?“ He asked, eyeing her suspiciously, “You always tell me that.“
Keisha looked at the other people present around the table as if wanting to know what was going on in his grandson's head, but they all shrugged in confusion.
Left with no choice, she turned to him and said, "Yes, I know that lying is bad. You don't think I am lying, do you?“
After taking a deep breath and releasing a short sigh, he finally responded,I think you are.“
“And what makes you think so?“ His grandfather decided to join in the conversation.
“One joined our class today. From a single glance, you'll think she is an angel. Long green hair, sparking green eyes, her nose is so long, and her lips are so small and pink, but... He trailed, then crouched in his seat as if making himself look as small as possible. “She is a demon grandmother. Everyone was scared of her, even Miss Eva.“ He raised his teary-eyed eyes to look at her.
“It's okay. Maybe you were just dreaming; demons don't exist.“ His father, concerned about his son's sudden fright, decided to coax him.
“It wasn't a dream, dad. Her name is Miracle, and she's new." Suddenly, his small finger stretched forward and pointed at the TV screen still running in the living room. “That's her dad, Miracle, and the woman beside her—is it a mother demon? Will she follow me home and take out my eyes and heart?“ Zach Junior suddenly started crying.
Young Master Zach was truly shocked.
Following his gaze on the TV screen, the four elders sitting at the table gasped. The headline on the news was “Did Wendy Queen resurrect, or is it her ghost roaming around with an exact young copy of her?"
In the image, it was a mother and daughter standing beside a black Maybach. Their green hairs were let loose, and their sparking green eyes were looking directly at the screen, a menacing black glitter radiating from their white eyeballs.
“Wendy Queen?“ Zach Hilton and Venessa Hawking gasped in unison.
Wasn't she dead?
Weren't they the only people who saw her getting consumed by fire until her last breath?
In that heavy silence, only two people looked at each other. One with fear in her eyes, one with... No one could really know what was going on in his head, as his face and eyes were all emotionless.
What these people didn't know was that Wendy Queen never died.
Yes, they might have left her on fire, but the same guard who was asked to lock her in the burning room was the same one who, after Zach's car drove away, hurriedly returned inside and rescued her.
Wendy was the only person who had always made him feel like family. While everyone at Alpha Zach's mansion saw him as a servant, Wendy treated him like a human who needed to be valued.
Besides, she had driven Wendy around so many times and acted as her bodyguard when she was doing her duty as Luna.
They had so many similarities; their tastes were the same, and most of the time he felt like she was his sister, who got killed by her drunkard fiance long ago.
He didn't know what to do at that time, so he took her out of the fire and secretly called a doctor to take care of her burns. Since then, he doesn't know what happened to her.
The guard never knew if she had died or survived since she suddenly disappeared. On asking the doctor he had trusted to take care of her about her whereabouts, he said that he walked to his clinic to find her missing.
While shock was evident in people's faces, only one person who had a genuine smile on his face and even a sigh of relief escaped his lips.
It was Harrison, the head guard, who was asked to lock her in the burning room five years ago.
But the question that didn't leave his head was, Why was she back?
In a secluded mansion deep in the forest, three people sat on a spacious couch, looking at the TV screen in front of them. One was five years old, while the other's were two grown men. Behind them, on the staircase, a slender woman, with a black robe loosely worn to cover her flushed body, walked downstairs, her damp green hair flowing to her ass and a glass of water in her hand. “What are you all stairing at? I thought I had given you work to do.“ She said to the two men, and then, turning to the toddler, she sighed, “Darling, didn't I ask you to go upstairs and get in bed? It's past your bedtime!“ “I am not a baby mom.“ The toddler rolled her eyes before a mischevious glimmer flashed across her eyes. “You were five the last time I checked. And I don't like that glimmer in your eyes.“ The woman shook her head, rolling her eyes in response. “You never told me you were dead, mom, but I guess that explains our rare features and capabilities.“ The toddler giggled. "D..." she stamme
When everyone in the hotel started stairing at Alpha Rasmore after his wolf howled and calling the foreigner "mate," he rushed out of the hotel. "Quickly, take me to the Blind Forest." He urged his assistant, letting him take the lead. He was not mistaken. That foreign girl was his mate. But how? He had really tried hard to keep himself from following her. Her lemon-like natural scent made his nose twitch. His wolf wanted to be let out to mark her. Her scent burned him, awakening a sudden desire in the pit of his stomach. It's been so long since he's gotten to smell that scent. A scent that calmed him down whenever he was angry. A scent that took his breath away. What he couldn't understand was how he could possibly have two mates and both alive. He knew of the fact that goddesses gave second time mates to people after their real partners pass away. Did that mean Karen Milburn was dead? "No, no, she isn't." "You are just overthinking." "Calm down, Alpha Rasmore, calm down." He inhal
"Miss Milburn, aren't we paying your twins a visit?" Kelvin asked, going into her room. He handed her a glass of tea and slumped on the couch beside her."Not anymore." She replied, sipping on it leisurely."But, Karen, I've bought flowers and everything we needed for their anniversary." Harriet complained about coming from the bathroom with a big bag on her hands. It had flowers, sweets, and a strawberry cake too. Her twins' favorite cake was the one with strawberry flavor. "Earlier, I went to the palace to plead your case, Harriet. But what I heard shocked me." Patrilia said."What did you do here?" She asked while sitting beside him."I heard Alpha Cameroon telling his men to rush to the cementry because a spy had reported that Karen Milburn would be going there in the evening to celebrate her parent's and twin's death anniversaries." Patrilia told them."What?" They gasped in unison. "But how did the spy know about Karen Milburn's arrival to the pack?" Harriet asked."It seemed l
Alpha Rasmore couldn't believe what he had just heard. Was Karen Milburn included in the Strawberry Pack? When did she show up? Where was she staying, and how was it that no hotel had reported her arrival to him? He had made it clear that the moment anyone spotted her, he should be told directly. "What the fuck?" He yelled, throwing a glass of water against the wall. He tore his fingernails apart and didn't care. Blood rushed through his veins and clogged up in his muscles. He signed heavily when he saw his father burning in anger. He was outside the palace, assigning the guards to go and attack her. He wanted her in his grip. Alpha Rasmore contemplated whether he should tell them the truth or not. No one was aware that he had Karen's stepsister in the dungeon waiting for her judgment day. He was waiting for the perfect time, and it seemed like the perfect time he had been longing for was there. There was only one thing he was afraid of, and that's why he had never told anyone about K
Karen Milburn chuckled as she flew high among the clouds. She giggled, shaking her wings in a playful manner, earning gasps from Kelvin and Patrilia. She was already in her dragon form. When the palace guards arrived at the forest to check the cause of the spreading fire, she was left with no choice but to shift and take her assistants along with her. They had settled on changing their names, but they lacked enough time to register their new names in the registry book. Harriet only proceeded with clearing their names from the lodge. Now anyone looking for them would get the response that they had checked out.Harriet had given the date and time of their departure. She didn't want anyone to question or suspect what they had done. When she first heard Kelvin and Patrilia asking Karen Milburn to fly them to another place, she cried so hard that she lost consciousness. She couldn't believe that Karen was leaving her again. She cried, begging to be taken along with them, and Karen had to b
No one could believe what they had just heard. Karen Milburn was gone? How, when, and where to? That was the question that Alpha Rasmore threw at his beta the moment he brought the news."I am so sorry, Alpha Rasmore." Where she has gone is something that none of us can figure out. I think we should wait a few more days. She may come back again. He offered advice, resting his head on the sofa's headboard. "What about that b*tch I asked to be brought out here?" Alpha Cameroon asked the guards. They both sighed and lowered their heads. Where were they going to start at? The bitch had escaped, and none of them wanted to break the news. They thought it would be better if he found out by himself."Where's the goddamn bitch?" He thundered, his knuckles turning ash white. "I want her out of here; don't you both get that?" He asked, storming furiously towards the dungeon. With one kick, the metal door broke open. He had asked all the guards to gather in the pack's hall because there was some
Kelvin and Patrilia trailed behind the invisible figure as he carried Karen away. Where they were being led was something they couldn't understand, and neither of them was courageous enough to ask that person."We are going to a cave not far from where you guys were at." The voice answered their unasked questions. The person was reading their minds. They sighed in relief when they arrived at the cave. It looked like a cave from the outside, but it was a nice, cozy house from the inside. The cave was filled with expensive-looking couches, a huge flat-screen TV pinned to the wall, and a glassy table supporting a huge green bow that was holding apples of different colors.Their hands collided as they both reached for the apples to munch on them. The voice chuckled at their behavior, and they all looked away, embarrassed."There is no need for you to be shy." "I'm sure Karen would have done the same if she wasn't unconscious." He laughed, carrying Karen to the inner room."The kitchen is
Military dogs barked as they trailed around the forest, led by the palace guards. It had been five hours, and almost everyone was tired. The deputy military general asked his general that it would be better if they let the dogs rest. Because of the pressure they had been given by Alpha Cameroon, the dogs were taken back to the van for a rest while the guards continued with the search."It had been eight hours since we started searching for that godamn bitch, general Levi; do you think we will find her?" From my own point of view, I'm sure we can't. "We have been going round and round, and at this moment we are standing at the very spot we started from." The deputy general pointed at a huge tree in front of them."I know. And I can see we are back to our starting point. "But nothing important comes easily, right?" He asked, calling the guards for a short nap before embarking on their search again. Not far from where they were resting, a woman in her mid-thirties, wearing a maroonish pi

Elinda stood at the door, her hands akimbo, waiting for Ana. Due to the voice-tracking devices she had planted in her hair strands, she was waiting for her to come and lie on her face. She had once asked her not to build high hopes on her getting a chance with Alpha Rasmore because it was not possible, but she never heard that advice, saying she was a jealous freak. She had laughed until she ended up rolling on the floor when she overheard her conversation with her dad over the phone. She was excited when she saw her father tripping in with the other elders, and she had even packed up her suitcase, saying she would be moving into Alpha Rasmore's room when things were finalized. She kept on taunting her, saying she was cursed because she would be the only girl at the palace without a partner. Since she was not in the mood to argue with her, she simply asked her to mind her own business and leave her alone. "Hey Ana, how is the progress?" She asked her the moment she walked in. Because
Rasmore was woken up by Hashmuk, who told him that the elders were there to talk to him. He groaned, turned on his bed, and went back to sleep. Hashmuk, who thought that the elders were there for an important meeting, quickly took his shower and decided to attend the meeting on his behalf. He found the elders sitting in groups of two, discussing in low voices. They both jerked up their heads to look at him with confusion written all over their faces. "I am sure that you were all expecting Alpha Rasmore, but he is out to finalize a business deal," he lied. There was no way he was going to tell them that their alpha was still asleep and had refused to attend the meeting. He cleared his throat and then said, "If there is any problem you are facing, then you can all discuss it with me." "Trust me, I'll make sure that Alpha Rasmore learns all of your needs when he comes back," he said, sitting on the chair. The elders didn't say anything, but they kept staring at one particular elder who
Harriet was walking along the corridor, going back to her friends, when someone sneaked up from behind her and covered her mouth with his rough palm. She tried wriggling herself into a fight with that person to let her go, but her struggles bore no fruit. She was dragged into a room where she couldn't see anything because her eyes were partially covered and the door was closed behind her. Her heart races, thinking that maybe she was abducted. Behind her, a distant voice chuckled, and she just clicked, waiting for that person to let go of her. She was pushed roughly on the bed, and she knew what that was going to be. "Sonnny, seriously, did you have to kidnap me?" "You could have asked me to come with you," she complained. "Would you have come, huh?" I have been trying to talk to you since morning, but what have you done? "You just keep on flicking that tongue of yours at them and then running away, so obviously, this is the only way I could get you," he responded, taking off his bib
"Have you two made up?" Harriet asked worriedly the moment Patricia and Peter walked out of the room. She sighed in relief when Peter walked out after Patricia and then held his hands. She gasped as she looked at them, wondering if Patricia had told Peter about his feelings. "Yeah, I have confessed my feelings," Patrilia admitted, as if she had read her mind. He spoke shyly."And?" Harriet was eager to know. "Peter, what was your response, and how did he confess?" She asked, squealing like a fangirl."He wanted us to be fuck buddies, but that's just impossible," Peter said, chuckling."I thought he had confessed, like he really loves you; I didn't expect him to ask you for a fuckbuddy deal," she pouted, folding her hands under her boobs."He did confess his feelings, but there was something he was wrong about." Peter cleared his throat, and when Harriet raised her brows in confusion, he explained, "He asked me to be bed buddies with him because he thought I wasn't in love with him." H
Pat stirred in his sleep, turning to face the other side. A cold substance touched his wrists, and he jerked up, struggling to flutter open his heavy eyelids. Something soft and ticklish trailed down his chest and stomach and then touched his shaft. When he opened his eyes, Hashmuk was sitting between his wide-spread legs, and he sat up, blushing profusely. He tried to pull the quilt over his nakedness, but Peter bit him because he grabbed all the covers on the bed and threw them away."What are you doing, Peter?" He asked. Peter, who was determined to get what he wanted, kept ignoring him. "Lift your hips, pretty boy." He asked him. Pat blushed as he struggled to untie his legs from his tight grip. "You will be hurt, honey." Just lift your hips. You don’t need to be shy. "You did that last night, didn’t you?" He winked. Kelvin averted his gaze, embarrassed. The echoes of his moans and all the activities of the previous night echoed back to his eardrums. "Shit, did I beg him to fuck m
At the dining room, the atmosphere was mixed. It was gloomy for Patricia but normal and interesting for the others. When Harriet volunteered to go and ask Peter to come out for breakfast, Patricia was happy, thinking that he would agree to Harriet's request, but he didn't. He lied to Harriet, claiming he wasn't hungry and would eat later, but he did so for him.He sighed for the umpteenth time, digging his fork into the food but never eating it. The food was suddenly bland and had no taste. Peter in his room kept on sighing, not able to hold his frustrations any longer. He slept on the bed, staring at the ceiling."Why did I do that?" he asked himself, turning on the bed as if all the ants in the world had come to be his bedmates. "Why did we do this, pal?" He inquired of his wife, who was deafeningly silent."Great, that's really great of you," he yelled at his wolf. "You always push me to do such things and then go silent when things worsen," he said, clicking loudly and roughing his
After Harriet was done taking her shower, she wiped her body with another towel and retreated back to the room to dress. After getting dressed, she was supposed to run to her friends and tell them she had spent the night at a boyfriend's house. After they were done playing cards the previous night, Sonny dragged her to his room without telling her friends. When they awoke to find her not in her room, she could tell they were worried."Aren't you going to take a shower?" She asked Sonny, who was still sleeping on the bed. "You said you have something important to do; has it become less important now?" She chuckled, picking up the light blue summer dress she had earlier chosen from the floor. When Sonny yanked it from her hands, he threw it away, but luckily, it wasn't dirty at all."This is the first time in my life that a girl just used me and left me unsatisfied, you know," he said, sitting on the bed."Can't you touch yourself to orgasm?" "Isn't that what you men do?" She asked, win
