Covered in sweat, my body dropped abruptly to the grassy site where Yura and I had been practicing my combat skills.

It's still a question why I couldn't distinguish the type of weapon I might be affiliated with after days of training. Yura said that atleast a kerieko must master even one but I couldn't.

Yura had been gone for a while since he had an important business to attend to. I could tell it by the way he carried his long legs leaving me behind.

Catching my breath, I decided to close my eyes, letting the mellowing sensation embrace my whole being. The serenity was disrupted by fleeting steps approaching.

When I opened my eyes, Yamiko was benting over. Those red eyes was sending me another familiar thrill coming from my guts.

"Seemed like you are taking things seriously," he stated. I forced a smile even though each muscle in my body was aching.

"I have to," I replied. Slowly, I lifted my body and sat down instead.

"What brings you here? I thought you have something t

Walking in the same pavement had been like a round-the-clock exercise for me. The usual charming tableau gives a peppy vibe to kickstart the day. Well, I'll have to exclude Yamiko. The guy had his brows contracted again, just affecting the atmosphere a bit. The balmy zypher made my disheveled hair flew. I had to fix it while running since Yamiko paced briskly as if we were late for some ceremonial event."Would you like to slow down a bit?" I asked. His physical part might be here with me but his thought was clearly traveling somewhere else. And just what I expected, I didn't get an answer."I was like talking to a being without soul," I murmured. To my surprise he replicated, "What did you say?""Nothing, I was just curious how I was able to produce magic." Half lie. Pierre waited. Seemed like he was trying to read my first move. I eyed him and when he motioned I started to attack. I striked a couple of times and all he did was defend himself. It was undeniable that he was a great fighter and my chance of winning fall almost to zero. Think, Rohama. Hit the vital parts, the nape, the knees or the stomach. Yes I remembered that. Atleast, Yura's effort to teach me won't fell in vain. I could even hear him lecturing me inside my brain. And so I begun to deliver blows directed to the weakest body part. Despite of such effort, I only managed to get his knees—which didn't hurt him that much."Splendid!" Pierre commented. I could have celebrated for such remark but I am not even an inch closer to my goal—to escape.I was taken aback because of the sudden aggresiveness he displayed. This time, he was the one attacking continously, with the same force which almost knocked me down.Such a great strength! I panicked when I realize what he was trying to do.

In a barren land where multiple fissures surfaced, the cloud loomed over two creatures facing each other. No living things could be seen within the perimeter; swept clean. The armageddon had served its purpose, making the woman with red eyes grin in contentment. It had been long ago since she gazed into that blue orbs, now fainting grey."Mherkealla," she whispered. The lady, whom she called panted and fell on her knees. The wound she procured depleted her energy; she couldn't stand. Her hair dangled, but was too drained to even move a finger."Give me the book," Olga demanded. Her voice echoed, like a strong wind going with a storm. Mherkealla smirked. "I swear to protect this book with my life, Olga. If I die, I'll take it with me," Mherkealla said, hoarsely. Her consciousness was slowly fading. Another drop of blood.Olga traced Mherkealla's being and a sly smile formed from her lips. She found the bravery an obtuse act. If only Mherkealla could understand better, things wouldn

"Rohama! Rohama!"My hands desperately fumbled around my bed for a pillow to cover my head. However, I wasn't able to grab one. All of it must be on the floor since I slept like a baby changing position every minute. The banging continued. It appears like the one knocking aimed to bust my door. It didn't take long when my mom's face materialized in my mind like a hologram screaming my name. The heck! "Rohama!"The yell was longer than the first one, indicating her annoyance and a warning saying the words: move your butt, lazybone.I jolted out of the bed, and with eyes still half-closed swung the door open. Lailanie, my mom, stood firm with her plump body facing me directly. Her gaze scrutinized my whole being, like I'm some kind of report material for a thesis.Jeez! It was so early in the morning. Bet the sun was still warming up to rise."Yes, mom?" I managed, suppressing a yawn. My body still ached for sleep. My eyes were tired as well. I glanced at my bed, and it was shining, a

Silence. A few strand of his business cut hair fell in the middle of his deep set eyes, he arranged them emulating a shampoo model I've seen in TV commercials.I winced upon the sight and regretted that I did. His shoulders moved, followed by a long hearty laughter which reverberated inside our small home."I win again," Rob said, still giggling."I can't stand such ugly face," I reasoned, it made him laugh even more. I intend to vex him using sharp comments but it never happened. I was always the one getting riled even involving simple things. I frowned."We have the same genes. Don't you forget, all people see our resemblance and can easily distinguish we are siblings."He got a point. Hence, it made me wonder why we were still different. He, for example had a lot of friends. When I say a lot, the numbers were serious. He had friends even at the furthest corner of our district, and I can't even keep one. He loved going to school, attending seminars, joining contest and many others

I could feel its gentle warm dabbing my skin. I thought it would be cloudy today. The weather forecast said so. Well, I guess climate change was doing its work pretty serious. Lazily, I opened my eyes but then shut it again. Was I in an open field? The light was blinding and that luminous celestial body seemed to be sitting just around the corner. As if it was possible. For moment, I stopped thinking and relaxed my mind as a mild pang settled in.The blabbering continued. I was forced to finally lift my eyelids and sat in haste. "Ouch!" I slanted my head while holding it with both arms. I just felt dizzy. "My, did I fall while walking?"I looked around. I'm in the middle of a forest which without doubt, not famil

My body seemed to float, like a feather being cradled by a mellow breeze and. . . wait. . . float? Feather?I instantly opened my eyes, but instead of seeing a familiar ceiling, I'm looking at a triangular shaped roof that was new to my sight. Was this lost in wonderland part two? I haven't remembered falling in a rabbit hole. Well, my mom told me stories and I regret not giving full attention before. But it was really fascinating. I mean, what's above me was made of brown leaves stitched together with mastery. I got keen eyes and impressing me would be a hard stuff but, where did they get a leaf as big as that? And second, how were they able to do that? Admirable!Okey, Rohama. You're asking no one. Better get on your feet."Geez! What am I doing drifting at the middle of this room?" I was shouting. Consternation filled my being, spawning a vacuous reaction. It was already late when I realized that I might be held as a captive. The incident flashed in my mind all at once. Gosh! Wa

As long as there were questions, answers should be found as well, even if it means risking their lives. I admire them, really, but I didn't plan to be like them. And ofcourse, I never intend to explore this I-don't-have-any-idea planet, thinking that even a flower could be a danger. Now, my thoughts were troubling the ephemeral peace I've felt a while ago. Might I be in Mars? I recalled having an accident.Humankind sifted evidences with the intent to validate the existence of other beings. If that's the case, then maybe, it's possible that I'm abducted. And they were planning to extract information from me in preparation of the invasion. Then, why would they choose you? My mind taunted. Whatever. I shook those thoughts away. "I have just been gone for five minutes, Rohama. In that short period of time, this is what I get coming back?"I could see Yamiko's brow arching in exasperation. His eyes wandered around each corner of the room. It made him frown. The area was a mess. Books were spread at the floor like an earquake had happened. I thought of an excuse but couldn't articulate a logical one. "It's just b—ouch!"The cerulean creature pulled my hair with its small fingers. I tried to swat it using my hands but the transparent wings like dragonfly were fast enough to avoid my attacks."Sweet cheesecakes! It has three fingers! Just three! Yet it hurts like my scalp is peeled off my head!"Yamiko stood still at the doorway, probably enjoying my present situation. The little voice from the man-like creature nettled me even more. Yet , I couldn't do anything. It was so tiny, might just be five inches and it's flying. It got eyes, just a black dot, a nose and a mouth."If I'd take hold of you, you abhorren

The long fangs was visible, might reach half a ruler if I were to calculate. It had two up and another two down. It kinda explains the slavering. Would say like a dog eyeing his bone. With that kind of teeth? It was rather difficult to keep your mouthouth shut. He—I'm quite certain that this creature was a male—his physique resembled that of ancient people in my Araling Panlipunan books. His shoulders were broad and hips bigger than someone in his size. He was sitting or more like squatting. It looked like what monkeys do but his butt never touched the ground. His knees were bent and I hate people with really long nails but his? Well, more or less 3 inches long. The hands were stretched to the ground as if he was so tired of carrying them.I am not really comfortable with whatever he was. The red eyes were not the same as Yamiko's because his was entirely red and had a black small orb at the middle acting as his pupil. And to complete his appaling look, his body was covered in hair

The grading system may differ depending upon which school you are in. It helped teacher's identify who among their students were doing excellently and who were doing poorly. Here, there were no such things. Either you pass a test or you lose. I gulped the lump on my throat and squinted my eyes. How could I not identify this plant after so many times of trying? Where was I lacking? It was almost breaking my ego admitting that I had no idea. What is it called again? Shea? Rhea?"This plant is called Añera, " Merko stated. Ah, yes. Now I do recall what its name is. I displayed a smile in exchange for a frown which I really wanted to do right now."And it is used to brew potions that can heal poisoned beings," he added. I repeated those words in my brain. I don't want it to sink away like I never heard of it. Honestly, I had plenty of that moment here. I guess I am having trouble adjusting to this world.Merko placed the plant on the small table infront of me. I heaved a sigh. This rep

"Come and sit, Rohama. These plants are harmless. It could be akin to mushrooms in human world. Avinos are common here during Time of Growing. "What Yamiko meant was the thing he was sitting at. I admit, it had similarities with mushrooms except that it was way bigger—enough to carry the weight of a man as big as Yamiko. He was atleast 6 flat. Time of growing was just one of the seasons here, which took place every first and second month of the year. It was when the trees, flowers and every plants started sprouting and flourish. I'm only familiar with four: winter, summer, spring and fall. But here, they had 6! Yes, six seasons which changes every two months! Unbelievable! They label it like these: third and fourth month was The Dark Moon's Charade. It sounded weird to me. It instantly initiated a question in my mind. Charade? Yamiko told me that it was this moment where the moon never appears and the entire sky was pitch-black. It was deemed to be the most the dangerous days in

It would had been like a feast. Perhaps a regale to entertain a new visitor. The problem was, the food set on the table infront of me, weren't something I see in my quotidian routine.I didn't make any attempt to move nor touch anything. Motionless like a doll placed on her own box not until I felt Yamiko's gentle tapping on my shoulder. "Are you engaging into some staring contest with food?" he asked. I faked a laugh. "Really? Funny."Ignoring my reaction, he handed me a plate full of these thingamajigs. I managed to subdue the threatening twisting of my mouth—which I'm pleased that I did cause I didn't want to look rude infront of all these keriekos. And not to mention the fact that Ruka was just infront of me, eating elegantly. My focus on the food was momentarily disrupted when I caught her smirk. That was odd. "Eat up," Yamiko said making me face him. I ended up admiring his almost perfect bearing. Look at that face, everyone could fall for it. It was too late to realize, I

Fruits I guess but they looked odd to me. Probably because, they never existed to the world where I came from.I smiled. How could I not? After the arguement he was still here. If I were him, I wouldn't care. "I'm fine, thank you," I replied. "I have to apologize about earlier," he started. It wasn't completely his fault, I was too impulsive and didn't think before speaking as well. Had problems controlling my temper and I say things I usually regret at the end.
