Eddy's expression shifted upon hearing Layla's request. "What did you say?"

He was happy to help Caroline and endorse her. Indeed, Caroline had proved that she was capable of managing. But he had severe doubts about Layla.

Eddy recalled the last deal that had resulted in a loss and his eyebrows scrunched up tightly. "NO way! I can agree to anything else, but never this. Do you know how much effort it takes to manage such a big company? Have you already forgotten what happened with the Evanson Corporation?"

"Eddy." Layla's hands clenched into fists. She would always feel hurt when it came to that matter. "Of course I know. That's why I'll hand the Collins Group over to someone else to manage once I get it."

She clarified, "Eddy, I don't want this because of the Collins Group's position among the top four. I want it because I need insurance. Without you, I don't know how I'm supposed to survive."

Eddy frowned even harder, but he could not back down on this.
