Caroline's body was tense all over. Under the covers, she pinched her thigh hard, using the pain to force herself to be ruthless.

She ignored the pitiful tone in Kirk's voice and said, "Nothing. I'm just tired, so I don't want to talk. Have you bought the plane tickets to head back tomorrow?"

Kirk reached out a hand to brush away the hair plastered to Caroline's forehead.

Still, he said warmly and dotingly, "No need to buy plane tickets. We'll just take a private flight back."
