There's nothing that makes me happier than when things go as I'd planned them to. I stared at the silky red gown that was hung in my closet. I've admired it from the moment Miss Beatrice brought it home, she had good taste.

I love that woman.

It was a red v-neck body con dress with shiny stones neatly dispersed on it; the stones were clustered at the upper part and were less at the lower part.

My whole back was open

I had put it on earlier, it fit me perfectly. Although I had lost so much weight, my curves were undeniably visible. The dress was far above my knee and I wouldn’t say I wouldn't be so conscious of my exposed body because I definitely will.

“Knock knock.”

I gasped.

I turned to see Miss Beatrice at the door; she stuck her head inside the room.

“You scared me.” Placing my hands on my chest with my mouth opened slightly like I'd seen a ghost.

She shrugged.

“Stop being overly dramatic, Rose. You left your door half open,” she said as she let herself inside.

I was out to burn this prom to the ground, to burn out this sadness that dwelled in the pit of my chest and watch the smoke evaporate into the atmosphere, to solo dance till my legs gave out.I was a bit strong to carry that out.I was not here alone. Miss Beatrice was here with me and Morris; of course, we couldn't leave him behind. They just had to be there to take pictures with me and go back home, I was going to get back home on my own.“Rose Clifford!” Miss Beatrice's high-pitched voice bounced from the vinyl interior of the car straight to my eardrums“Yes, Miss Beatrice Clifford.” “Now I need you to listen to the fuck up.” She said the f-word inaudibly as she didn't want Morris to pick that up.“When you get in, please, I beg you, young lady, do not try to get drunk. Don't break any stuff because I'm not gonna pay shit.”Saying shit inaudibly.“Got that?”“Got that right ma'am.”Only if she had never tasted anything other than freshly squeezed fruit juices.Speaking of breakin

“I warned you about this, didn't I?” I replayed what happened to me and Gibson at the prom yesterday. What I did felt right until I sat for counseling on Miss Beatrice's custody. We were on the small porch of our house; my head was faced down while she kept ranting about yesterday by my side. I sat on the slab staring at the neatly cut lawn. The lawn has never been as fascinating as I was in my entire existence. Right now, I didn't want to look at her face.“That was a very wrong thing to do; imma be real with you; that nigga looks like he's the only one that cared about you even though your dumb ass keeps pushing him away. What the fuck is wrong with you child?” After maintaining a high pitch of tantrum, the last part came out as a whisper.“I'm sorry.”“Mm-hmm, you're gonna hold that back." She said holding up her arm, her index finger pointing at me."I will be putting out the whole mess you did right now in your face, starting from when you spilled that gentleman vodka on his fin

Rose said she wasn't expecting someone; maybe the person behind the door had come to see Arthur; I know no one who would be looking for me in the place.Either way, I went to get the door.“Could you help me with your dad's lunch while I go get the door?” I asked Rose as I exited the kitchen."Sure."Pulling the doorknob of the main open, I was greeted by the blonde guy who brought Rose home last night from prom.He was a cute white kid, I would award him that.He was dressed in a blue flannel shirt tucked into his black pants. His appearance oozed a nerdy kind.I made a mental note to ask her of the kind of guys she found attractive later on, not like that's my business but c’mon.Rose was a nerdy girl too. By the law of things or whatever, two nerdy people can't form a couple. Here I am already trying to match Rose. I brushed my thoughts off“Oh dear.” I flashed the warmest grin I left reserved for children at him.“Good afternoon ma'am.” He adjusted his glasses, wearing a heavy gri

I stood on my grounds in pure disapproval, not to go on any godforsaken date with Gibson. The ground I stood upon slowly gave way and I fell into agreeing on the stupid date.Miss B appeared in the living room, where I and Gibson were having an epic banter, and talked me into going with him. Gibson came later with a deep blue velvet gown for me to put on for the date. What a gentleman I doubt he chose the dress himself. He somehow found his way into a nice boutique to ask for a roll of their best dinner gown and he chose this one out of the hundreds they'd presented. The date was in three days. We'd settled for a dinner date at one of the nice restaurants a few blocks away.***It's 25 minutes to the date, it was scheduled for 7 pm.I'm staring at my reflection in the full-sized mirror that was hung opposite my bed. Miss B stood by my side; one of her hands was placed on her mouth, and the other She held her waist.“He's trying to make a good impression, don't you see that?” Her wor

Present Day I lay comfortably on the leathery treatment couch as the linear accelerator rotated around my head, delivering the exact amount of treatment prescribed by Dr Myron. The nurse who administered it to me was no other than the nurse who always followed him around.Yes, the clingy one.I've grown to get used to the therapy there at the hospital, Dad had always complained about the whole cost of the chemotherapy Miss B offered back at home. The hospital was way cheap.I usually come with Miss B for my chemoradiotherapy when she has the night shift at work. She works as an auxiliary nurse at a hospital. Not City Hospital, like she'd be working here, I wouldn't let any other nurse attend to me.My Dad comes with me to the hospital when he's off work as well. Those two had to work their ass off to meet up with the hospital bills, so at times, I'm left at home alone when I'm back from the hospital. I think I've found my new hubby, the one that keeps my mind busy as my body gives out.And that is…Drum Rolls, please.A fucking home technician.Yeah, you heard me.I kind of have little or more knowledge on repairs than you think I do, maybe the knowledge of repairing items crawled out from my Dad to me I've always done that since I was…since. Now, as I've joined oneness with the couch, I didn't want to be a full-blown liability. I could help with some things around the house, like fixing the faulty microwave and fixing the dishwasher multiple times even though it would still go bad within the next 72 hours.I insist on helping these days, no matter how bad Dad objects.Miss B lets me do my thins without obliging; she's tired of keeping the hard-headed girl's input.Miss B is off to work, Morris is at school.Dad, fortunately, is at home; we just got back from the hospital from therapy. He's probably making lunch.I'm super tired, the medicines keep draining me.I lay on my bed; I

Something is wrong with the basement today; some items, such as Dad's auto spare parts and some of his very useful items, were littered on the floor.I stood at the wooden paneled door of the basement and looked around. The junk on the floor, none was broken.None that I could see.It was like an earthquake occurred in this room; the only difference was that the ground didn't part ways. There was something very off. This is like Dad's scared spot; he always keeps her in order.Forget the musty smell; here was the most arranged as He usually spends time here for meditation or to get away from Morris chattering. He never spoke of the basement being untidy today. Mind you, he always scolds Morris each time he steps into this place.Morris hasn't been here today, Dad had always held the keys. Why would it be now that here was tumbled upside down that he say nothing?I could have heard the noise of them falling to the ground or something that wrecked here; the basement was close to my bedr

Rose should be out of here in no time, what could be keeping her there for this long? This child…she's probably playing in there.“Godammit.” I held my hands to my head; the uneasy feeling crept right back in.She's sick, I should have gotten there to get that toolbox. It would require her climbing and she doesn't have the strength for that.I'm going there right now.I made my way to the basement. The door to the stairway was left slightly open.“Rose?” No answer. My footsteps down the stairway to the basement were hasty.“Everything is okay. Everything is okay. She's in there. She's fine.” That was all I said to myself till turned the metal knob of the wooden door; it creaked loudly as I pushed it open.My mind wasn't ready for the view I saw. Everything was the exact opposite of what I'd prepped for, except for the fact that Rose was still in here but she was on the floor.Motionless.“No, no, oh noo.” I rushed to where my daughter was, jumping over my fallen junk. What had happen

On the cliff that stood parallel to the only sea in Claw City Park, the same cliff which my blood spilled was where we sat looking out towards the sea. It was infinitely beautiful, the clear blue meeting the blue rippling sea on the horizon. Before now, I’ve never been close to enjoying a sea view. This was all I dreamt of, listening to the mesmerising sounds of the gentle waves of the sea with my dream guy. I had that dream coming true, all that it wasn't exactly as I had planned it to be. You make choices and life filters what it thinks is best for you. I wanted my dream guy, handsome, strong with a wholesome gentility. Emmett was all that except he was not gentle, he wasn't even close to being gentle, he could always act but he never was.I looked from the sea to the side view of his face, he was lost in the view of the sea. His hair on his head had grown longer than it had been a few months ago. I guess he never cared about his looks when he was hell bent on avenging his death, “

We usually experience the urn lit up, the words on the urn glowed white but after some seconds, the light dies out. So we left it in the hands of the women from her lineage to give it a try. My great grandmother tried. My grandmom. My mom. And so did my wife. Until Rose did.” I want to go on my knees to plead once more to spare the lives of my people that were also his creations, the same people who had casted I and my family to suffer for the wrongs of my foremother but I was held in the shoulder by our ancient WolfLord, “Stand,” He said to me, then turned to the man in black cloak. He extended his hands out, I heard the bones of the man lying on the ground crunch. “I'll let you live. You and your people." He looked over to the dead bodies, "Peace to your fallen soldiers.” He said in a low tone. He turned to me as he made his way towards the

“Few things about your martyr were erased from history. My forefather, the Alpha of your time was the one who ordered you killed, so the real history was passed down to me. He was known to be the only Alpha who was able to conquer you, but in his doings, he did not completely erase you. He couldn't at all. A prophecy was made that era that in another lifetime, a descendant of your lover’s bloodline shall be the one to free you.” Lucan rose up to his feet slowly, wincing with pains as he did. He pointed to Rose, “Emmett, this is the person you seek for, the one who by fate broke the spell on your ashes."Rose stared between I and the crazy Alpha, “You lie," I blurted, "She's human or was human until I turned her.” Few howlers mumbled.“Who was the first person you saw when you emerged from your ashes?” Lucan asked, There was no way he was going to deceive me into thinking Rose was the one. It was clear she was human, her family, all were humans. “This young lady was human, I turne

Over a hundred acres of land was in flames, burning hot. This wasn't the adventure I envisioned. I was told to be in here, that he would sense when I was in danger and come to me, that mind link thing he spoke of. But the person who promised me safety was nowhere seen. I kicked in on survival instinct. I feared the fire might get caught up with the wood his home was made of, burning everything to the ground. Scouring through the burning forest, I followed the path where the fire was less. There were a lot of things I was understanding about my new form. One of which was that I could pick up the scents. Down to the scent of pollinated flowers, I could perceive all. So I used that to my advantage, I walked through the burning bushes on their free path, my head bent upwards as I tried sniffing in the scent of my roommate…I can't believe I still referred him to that, my brain wasn't willing to let go of his presence in my fucked up life. I filtered the choking smell of smoke, my eyes we

“Emmett, we know your story. We're aware of what transpired between you, your ex lover and the Alpha of your time, but I'll have you know that this Park has grown so big. We've grown greatly in numbers, making it difficult for us to distinguish who from who. The bloodline of Kayla, your ex lover, was never heard of after the whole thing with your mythr happened.”I looked at Lucan from where he sat proudly on his throne, the urge to fling him over so reigned in my mind but I withheld it, “It's a sad thing that this generation of wolves lacks wisdom but I want to believe that they are still werewolves gifted with the ability to track down my murderer. I ask only one simple thing, which is to bring the last bloodline of my murder to justice.”“Emmett, if you can just give us a little time, we…”Swiftly, I pulled him out his throne, suspending him in a good height mid air. This was to show him and the rest of his pathetic throne members that I was damn serious. There were mumbling amongs

“Pick up the damn phone, Arthur.” I had broken the barstool at which my hand held onto to help ease my tension, my wolf itched for outlet. I never guessed a day I would be happy and scared to my bones for my niece.Happy because out of the women from our forefathers, she had been chosen. Chosen to bring change. Chosen to let us free.I was sad because she knows half or nothing about where she came from. She's unaware of the line of family she came from. A young naive woman born of a bloodline of the rogue family. And now, on the course of being chosen to free the ancient one she had gone missing with apparently, the ancient one himself. It's how he was able to move her out of the house I found surprising. With no idea where she would be in Claw City Park or What's doing in a place where she was different from the rest of the inhabitants there–a lesser kind of difference, the whole thing scared me to my bones. The only thought that crawled into my head when my son told me of the littl

I felt a strong hold on my hands and feet, my eyes sprang open. My blurry vision settled after I struggled with squinting my eyes from the rays of sun that creeped through the window. Peering down at my feet, I was tied in a huge chain. Same with my hands. In a strange and empty old model bedroom. The last thing I remembered was feeling my organs shut down and the hazy words of Emmett calling me out of my unconsciousness. I remembered my body going completely numb. Where am I? “Emmett?” I managed to call out, feeling the raspiness of my throat. I tried to free myself from the strong chains, the clattering noise echoed in the room. Each time I pulled on the chains, it got tighter. On the contrary, I stopped struggling. Waiting for my captor or whoever is responsible for keeping me in this position to come kill me. I thought Emmett made a promise to protect me. Now, here I was, in a strange place with my hands on my feet tied up. I heard the sounds of heavy footstep

The dawn of morning after a heavy rainstorm from the previous night was always cool and calm. It's like the rain came to stabilise the balance of the atmosphere after not falling for a week. According to the meteorologist on the radio, there's gonna be a clear sky today.I looked over to see Morris sleeping form, mouth leaving trails of spit. “Drooling monkey,” I said under my breath. He cooed in response like he heard me.Five minutes and I was done with the shower, so I dressed quickly. I went over to where Morris slept like a dead log of wood. “Morris, get your tiny ass out of that bed right now!” I called out immediately as I was dressing up. There's no time for acting sweet and loving, I'm late for work already. Courtesy of the rain.At the first call Morris remained sleeping, he did a few turns, mumbling something unintelligent to himself.“Morris!”“Morris Clifford!”He flicked from his lying position, his eyes red from sleep darted around, “I'm up, I'm up.” His breath rasped
