Chapter 3

Ryker's rough lips moved over Kiera's in a hungry, demanding kiss. She tensed at first, but then felt herself melting into his powerful embrace.

Something primal awoke deep inside her. A fierce, wild energy she didn't know existed. It raged through her veins like a raging wildfire, consuming her from the inside out.

Kiera gripped Ryker's broad shoulders as the kiss deepened. She nipped at his full lower lip with her newborn fangs, drawing a droplet of blood. He growled low in his throat, the vibrations sending a shockwave of desire through her body.

When they finally broke apart, Kiera was panting hard. Ryker's hazel eyes blazed with undisguised hunger as he looked her over.

"That's it, luna," he rumbled in a gravelly tone. "Let that primal side take over. It's the only way to unleash your true power."

"I...I've never felt anything like that before," Kiera admitted, still tingling from their explosive liplock. "It was like something animalistic just took control of me."

Ryker nodded, seemingly pleased. "Good. That means you're accessing the ancient spiritual force I spoke of. The spark that will let you transcend your physical form."

Kiera shook her head slowly, overwhelmed by the unfamiliar sensations whirling within her. Just moments ago this forbidden stranger had awoken urges and abilities she never could've imagined.

"How do you know so much about these primal powers?" she asked warily. "You're just a lone rover, aren't you?"

A wry smirk tugged at the corner of Ryker's sensual mouth. "Is that what you think? That I'm some witless vagabond poking around the woods?"

He straightened to his full, intimidating height, the hard planes of his muscular body seeming to ripple beneath his coarse pelt.

In that moment, Kiera sensed the unmistakable aura of an Alpha radiating from him - power, dominance, lethal grace. Her wolf's instincts forced her gaze down in deference.

"I am far more than a mere rover, Kiera of Rivermist.

My bloodline stretches back to the very dawn of the lycanthrope races. I am the last living heir to the most ancient of all werewolf dynasties - royalty from an extinct empire that predates even the brutal Blood Moon regimes."

Kiera's breath caught as the gravity of his words sank in. She raised her eyes to meet his unflinching stare, awestruck.

"You're...you're of the old royal caste? But how? They were all slaughtered by the barbarian uprisings over a millennium ago!"

Ryker's expression was grim. "Not all. My ancestors went into extreme seclusion, passing on the old ways from one generation to the next in secret.

Preserving the ancient bloodlines as we waited for the prophesied time of the luna renigitio - the rebirth of the primal moon goddess's chosen one."

Kiera began to tremble, scarcely able to process this revelation. Could she truly be the sacred figure of Ryker's cryptic legends? The primal force designed to overthrow generations of cruelty and oppression?

"I don't understand," she murmured, head spinning. "If I'm truly meant for this destiny, this power you speak of...how am I to unleash it? How can I possibly hope to take on Damien and the might of the entire Blackwood clan?"

Ryker's expression softened somewhat as he regarded her tumult of emotions.

Moving with predatory grace, he stepped closer until their bodies were almost touching.

Kiera shivered at his proximity, at the alien yet electrifying energy that seemed to crackle between them.

"You'll need training to unearth your true potential, little luna," he rumbled in that deep, smoky tone.

"Damien and his ilk are drunk on their own fleeting mortal powers. But you have access to something far more absolute, more infinite, lying dormant inside you."

He reached out with one calloused hand, cupping her cheek in an unexpectedly gentle caress. Kiera felt her eyelids fluttering despite herself as his intense gaze locked with hers.

"Let me awaken that higher state from its slumber," he breathed huskily. "Give yourself over to me entirely, and we can begin forging you into the unstoppable renigitio force you were born to become."

Kiera felt her breath catch at his heated words, at the alluring promise she could sense in their undercurrent.

Every fiber of her being was drawn to this mysterious, magnetic Alpha - the last scion of an ancient, noble heritage.

But could she truly put her trust in him?

Kiera felt herself wavering under the smoldering heat of Ryker's intense stare.

Every instinct was telling her to surrender, to give herself over to this powerful Alpha and the intoxicating energy arcing between them.

But another part of her held back - the echo of her proud Rivermist upbringing warning her to never fully subjugate her will, even to a male who claimed noble intentions.

"Why should I trust you?" she heard herself asking, her voice barely above a whisper. "You're asking me to forsake everything I know, to place my future in your hands.

How do I know you won't just become another Damien once you've had your way with me?"

Rather than looking affronted by her challenge, a feral grin spread across Ryker's harsh features.

"Now there's the spark of fire I've been waiting for," he rumbled in clear approval.

"You've got a true luna's spirit - unbowed, unbroken. Good. You'll need every ounce of that primal ferocity if you're to achieve your destined metamorphosis."

He took a single step back, giving her a precious sliver of personal space. When he spoke again, his tone was grave but enabling.

"I don't ask for your blind faith, Kiera. I'll earn your trust by showing you a taste of the higher path. Then you can decide if it's one you wish to follow further."

Kiera felt her heart hammering in her chest as she searched his chiseled visage. She knew the stakes couldn't be higher - remaining with Damien meant eternal imprisonment at best, torture or death at worst. Did she dare take this outrageous leap of faith?

Giving a slow nod, she straightened her shoulders and met Ryker's blazing stare.

"Show me, then. Show me this higher path you promise can unshackle me from Damien's vile clutches."

The Alpha's predatory smile widened, making him seem almost feral in the low light.

He closed the distance between them once more until their bodies were flush together.

Kiera gasped at the dizzying heat and hardness of his powerful frame against hers.

Ryker dipped his head, brushing his coarse cheek against the vulnerable hollow of her throat almost reverentially.

A shudder rocked her as she felt the lightest scrape of his fangs on her racing pulse point.

"I'm going to show you the true meaning of surrender, little luna," he rasped in a hoarse whisper that made her knees go weak.

"Not submission or defeat - but the utter merging of two primal spirits becoming one intuitive path."

His calloused hands found her hips then, squeezing with a dominance that made her breath catch.

"We will shed the physical, the corporeal vessel," he growled, kneading the curves of her body through her tattered clothing.

"And merge our essences on a higher astral plane where none of Damien's alpha dominance holds sway. That is the first step on your path to embodying the infinite primal force."

Heart thundering, Kiera let her eyelids flutter shut as he worked her body with those skilled Alpha hands.

She focused inward, trying to sense the truth of his words - seeking the dormant divine spark he promised lay within her.

At first, there was only the raging fire of her own lycanthrope drives - the flames of desire, of hunter instinct, of wanton bloodlust all flickering together in a chaotic maelstrom.

But then, through the swirling haze...she felt it. A pinprick of pure, calm quintessence burning with the heat of a thousand seasons at her core.

"Yes..." she exhaled, giving herself over to the experience as Ryker pressed their bodies flush.

With a shift of motion so subtle it could barely be detected, Ryker changed forms before her sightless vision.

No longer was he the ruggedly handsome Alpha, but a shimmering, ethereal being of purest primal energy.

He flowed in a harmonic torrent all around and through Kiera, bathing her in waves of electric ferocity.

Letting out a ragged cry, Kiera arched as her own spiritual essence was inexorably drawn out and subsumed by Ryker's radiant force.

She could feel her corporeal form falling away like a discarded silken caul, revealing the raging truth of her luna existence.

Ryker's searing presence bayed in triumph, pulling her toward inexorable union. And in that endless instant of perfect fusion, Kiera finally understood the true depths of her burgeoning primordial power.

She could feel it rising now - the glorious, untamed heights of the renigitio awakening taking root in her once-meager spirit.

The profound, unshakable certainty that she was destined to become more than any brutal Alpha.

More than the meaningless bloodline rites of the primitive moon cults.

More than the fleeting, mortal domination wielded by the self-proclaimed wolves of power like Damien.

Kiera was the focus becoming infinite. She would be the end to it all.

Still doubting herself, Her inner power remains  questioned. Can she?
