Elona's trembling hands held the pregnancy test, the pink plus sign blurring as tears of joy and fear mingled. Her 21st birthday, once a celebration of independence, now marked a new, unexpected chapter.

She wiped her tears off and once again took another look at the pregnancy test in her hands to confirm if it was not an illusion. Seeing that nothing changed, Elona Carter was ecstatic. She felt that this is by far the best birthday she's ever had. A perfect transition from childhood to adulthood.

"You see, my dear. I had told you that all your symptoms are typical of early pregnancy but you doubted me. Now that it is confirmed, I need to give you some medication and a diet plan. This will help prevent anemia as well as help control the morning sickness. If there is no problem, you should come for prenatal checkup every month. Oh, and these are your prenatal vitamins." Said the doctor with a kind smile on his face.

The old doctor could not help but admire Elona. In his line of work, he had seen many young girls who get flustered when they discover pregnancy. He has seen more of these young adults queuing at the abortion clinic than anywhere else. However, Elona, was different.

In a chirpy voice, Elona thanked the doctor and headed out. She walked briskly with her hand on her lower abdomen. Hailing a taxi, elona headed to the largest supermarket in town and bought a lot of fresh supplies.

She hastened back to her quaint cottage in the suburbs where she stayed alone. She wanted to prepare a sumptuous meal before calling her boss over. Elona wanted to break the news face to face not over the phone. However, her smile faltered at the thought of her boss, Alaric Royale.

They never dated prior to sleeping together. Neither has he spoken a word to her after the deed was done. How was he going to react to the news? Elona could not help but wonder.

Alaric Royale. The father of the baby growing in her belly. He was the richest man in Emerald Hill. The city of kings. Alaric was the most eligible bachelor in town but there was a lot of controversy about his sexual orientation. Because he was never seen with a woman before, there were rumors about him liking men, instead.

However, Elona knew better. She had always had a crush on Alaric but the man was cold and distant. However, one night, about two months back, he stumbled into her house looking delirious and disoriented. Elona smiled as she recalled the night she transitioned from a girl to a woman.

It was a stormy night. Not even a twinkling star in sight. Elona had returned early from work, had a quick dinner and started working on a new design draft. She was halfway through when thunder rumbled.

Since she was young, Elona was afraid of thunderstorms. She quickly tidied up her desk and dashed into the bedroom and his under the covers. However, sleep evaded her and she could only pray that the rain would quickly subside. The universe seemed to have heard her because suddenly, her door was pushed open and Alaric, her boss walked in.

Alaric took her and ravaged her into the wee hours of the night. Elona was powerless against him. It was her first time and she was hurt by his frantic thrusts. There was no gentleness. Only an insatiable, almost animalistic desire.

Though it hurt, she was happy to finally give herself to the man she loved. The next morning, Alaric Royale was enraged but seeing that it was her first time, he promised to take care of her. He left her a supreme black card and promised to be there for her when she needs him. That was his way of taking responsibility for her.

Now, Elona felt a mix of emotions as she thought about telling Alaric the news. Would he be happy, or would he reject her and their child? When she was done cooking, she called him but a woman with a sultry but unmistakable voice answered her. That was undoubtedly her stepsister Harley!

The Crystal Room, nestled within the luxurious confines of the Golden Oak Hotel, was the epitome of fine dining. With its lavish decor, impeccable service, and exquisite cuisine, it was a haven for the rich and elite. The restaurant's private rooms, reserved for the most discerning patrons, offered an unparalleled level of exclusivity and sophistication.

Alaric Royale, seated in one of these private rooms, savored the rarefied atmosphere as he dined with Harley. The room's walls, adorned with intricate gold leaf patterns, seemed to shimmer in the soft light.

The table, set with fine china and crystal glassware, was a testament to the restaurant's attention to detail. The aroma of roasted duck and freshly baked bread wafted through the air, teasing their senses.

As they dined, Alaric's phone buzzed, disrupting the tranquility of the evening. He glanced at the screen, his eyes narrowing slightly as he saw Elona's name flashing on the display.

Before he could pick it, Harley had beaten him to and snatched his phone pressing the answer button.

Harley's voice was a gentle melody as she inquired, "Who's this and what do you want with my fiance?" Alaric's eyes gleamed with admiration, his chest swelling with pride. This was the epitome of elegance, he thought.

On the other end of the line, Elona's grip on the phone faltered, her fingers numb and weak. The device slipped from her grasp, but the call remained active, broadcasting every word spoken on the other side.

"Who was it, babe?" Alaric drawled, his tone dripping with indulgence.

"Elona," Harley replied softly, her voice a soothing balm to Alaric's ego.

Alaric's demeanor shifted, his tone darkening. "She dares call me after the stunt she pulled on me? Dress up, my angel. We're going to see her and end this once and for all."

The line went dead, but Elona remained frozen, her mind reeling from the conversation she had just overheard. The sound of the doorbell shattered the silence, jolting Elona back to reality. She opened the door, still in a daze, her eyes unfocused.

I’m calling about my grandson.”Before he could finish, Master Fu exploded into a tirade, hurling insults in his native tongue. “How dare you! Years of neglect, and now you grovel before me?” His anger wasn’t entirely for the man on the phone, it was for Elona, his closed-door disciple, whose life had been tangled with the Royales in ways he despised. As the old master vented, the door creaked open. Elona’s fingers paused mid-motion as she arranged the herbs for Alaric’s next dose. Her sharp gaze cut through the flickering candlelight to where Master Fu sat, sipping tea with deliberate calm. The room’s silence was thick, broken only by the occasional groan from Alaric in the adjoining chamber.“You could cure him, couldn’t you?” Elona asked, her voice low but accusing. Fu set his teacup down, meeting her eyes with the unyielding calm of a seasoned mentor. “I could.”Her hands clenched into fists. “Then why drag this out? Why make me mix temporary antidotes when you have the skill to end this suffering now?”Fu leaned back, his expression unreadable. “Because suffering sharpens resolve. Alaric needs to endure this pain. It will awaken the fire he has long suppressed.”Elona’s anger simmered. “You’re withholding his treatment... to provoke him? He’s already half-dead!
