Ivis arrived at the island at noon. His mood is a bit complicated, he got off the jet with dark circles under his eyes and took off the jacket he wore last night throwing it casually inside the plane. His very person was exhausted staying up all night.
He then walked towards the house with his hand carrying a brown envelope.
His feet didn’t wait for the others to come out and greet him rather he impatiently made his way to the terrace where everyone gathered on the couch.
The door opened and he went inside. All ten people dart their eyes at him with a complicated gaze. Ivis look at them silently with his weary eyes. The youthful look disappeared and only traces of messy hair and panda eyes were left, this get-up look like he was a man in his thirties.
He look at the anxious faces and had long expected that this would happen. He already prepared himself to face them and even had a backup plan to persuade the ten so he was very calm.
Ivis made his way to the couch and took a seat in the middle. All eyes on him and different emotions exude from the ten people in his front.
Elena already told them about the matter yet they still haven’t confirmed the truth so everyone was extremely nervous to hear the words he has to say.
Ivis calmly took out the files he prepared last night and handed a copy to every single one of them. He then let them skim through a bit before he started to speak.
“I guess you all understood what Elena told you.”
He calmly said trying to get the mood. He saw the others nod their heads reluctantly as they waited for him to explain. Ivis then get to the point.
“You see, the game was a setting to find the best players.” He started as he cautiously watched their expressions.
“However, the real reason why the Creator choose ten players was to have the best talents to deal with the otherworldly matters.”
Everyone wrinkled their brows, quite confused about the meanings of his words. Ivis helplessly smiled at them and explained.
“Every arc you played was in fact, a different world in a different dimension.”
“Creator? Aren’t you the Creator?” Yenn blurted out making the other gasped. Ivis just shook his head and smiled.
“Why would I be?”
Everyone slightly nod and the room fell into silence. The rumored identity was confirmed. Ivis wasn’t the real one. Yenn suddenly felt bitter, he was cheated yet again.
Stanley stroke his chin and asked.
“Are you saying that we all just played over worlds?
“Yes. The arcs are the gate.”
“That’s absurd.” Liyanna strongly refuted.
His words doesn’t make any sense and there’s no plausible reason for them to believe it without conclusive evidence.
“Well, it sounds ridiculous but it’s the truth.” Ivis shook his head. “I mean you all saw what happened last night.”
“Yes but it only justify that the island was strange. It just gotten stranger.” Yenn shook his head. Everyone thought so too.
He believed that Ivis is just saying such stuff as a farce and the fact that he was just a kid, no one is dumb enough to believe a child’s joke.
Ivis squinted his eyes and already guesses what they’ve been thinking. It does sound absurd but if he had to prove it he need to show them. He stood up on his seat and glance at everyone who’s watching him.
He then shrunk his size and turned into a five year old child making everyone gasped.
“You..!?”
Ivis just rolled his eyes and turn into his adult self. He was originally a 27-year-old man so his appearance change a lot.
“It’s my ability.” He calmly said as the ten people look at him with horrified expressions.
“That…”
Liyanna couldn’t squeeze the next word on her throat and arbitrarily shut herself. The room shortly fell into silence. Everyone’s heart brew a mixed feelings of doubt and amazement.
With this expression, Ivis believed that they’re already convinced. However, it needed a bit more push.
“So, we’re here because we’re familiar with the arcs? Why didn’t you pick all the players of the game then. There’s billion of us you know.”
Jiwoon broke the silent atmosphere and look at him with a frown. He already understood why. Ivis only gave him a sharp look. Jiwoon always pick up fast. No wonder, he always felt that he was dangerous.
“So you only chose us because of convenience?”
Everyone pursed their lips after they realized the meaning behind Jiwoon’s statement. They have no room to negotiate…
Ivis shook his head and motion them to look at the file he gave them. Everyone’s mind was still afloat but they hurriedly browse the documents after hearing him mention it.
The atmosphere turned silent again and only the flipping sound of papers were heard in the terrace. After everyone skim through the details, they found out it was the contract they’ve signed before coming here.
Liyanna realized that he was using the contract to placate them and was very disappointed. Yenn was first to react aggressively since he remembered he was tricked into signing this thing!
However, Ivis simply smiled at the two people.
The rest were still calm and didn’t express the contempt they felt that much. Jiwoon simply glance at him and then the documents.
“If you’re giving us this thing then that means we have a choice?” He questioned.
“No.”
“T-then what?” Liyanna asked, dumbfounded.
“Read the last page. Did you really read it through before tou signed? I guess not.” Ivis rolled his eyes with a bit of disappointment in his voice.
Everyone quiet down again and start to ‘read through’ the files. After a moment, everyone widen their eyes in disbelief.
“This!”
Byul threw the files on the table and angrily stood up. Everyone was startled by the sudden shout and the words they are planning to say got stuck on their throats.
Byul fretted and all eyes are instantly focused on him. He then cautiously declared.
“You’re saying everyone here no longer exist?!”
Everyone froze, their hands promptly flipped through the last page and after reading the following line, they almost collapse.
They no longer exist? What ridiculousness is this?
Everyone paled after hearing him say those words. They all toss the documents on the table like a hot potato. Everyone was insanely petrified.
No one let out a sound and there was a hint of complicated feeling in their hearts.
Their existence was suddenly thrown away after coming into the island. Who would not grieve? Their unprecedented identity was suddenly disposed. If they want to go back. What happens when they go back?
To think their lives were merely determined by a piece of paper….
“You misunderstood.” Ivis opened his mouth.
The people all look at him with distrustful eyes. How can they believe him anymore after knowing that?!
“In fact. You’re only forgotten for a period of time.”
“What do you mean?” Everyone asked in unison.
Forgotten? They’re not dead but in the eyes of people they don’t exist? That’s even worst! Everyone look at him with rage. How dare he erase their existence just like that?!
What do you take people’s life for? We still want to live a life! Everyone clenched their fist. If we’re forgotten then it means there’s no point even when they go back. He successfully lure them into a trap. How great.
Ivis casually smiled and took out his phone from his pants pocket and then held it out to them.
“It’s only for a while. Everyone would remember you soon enough. In fact it hasn’t been that long.”
“…!”
Everyone look at Ivis with suspicious eyes. How can they believe such a thing when they have a solid proof? They’ve stayed here for over a year and you dare to say it hasn’t been that long? You think we’re dumb? Everyone snorted.
Ivis just smiled at them making everyone raised their suspicions even more.
“I know it’s hard to believe but this island is located in the gaps between dimensions so time and space is altered by the dimensional changes.” Ivis seriously explained.
“………”
Who would believe that?!
Everyone was stupefied.
Ivis kneaded his brows and decided to call back Liyanna. He can’t explain this clearly to them with only showing his phone system time. He need a strong evidence. Who knew it would be this hard to explain? Aren’t they the best among others and he was even told they’re smart enough to understand. Which part of them clearly understood?
Elena who came at the back of the island to ‘inspect’ was suddenly called back.
“It seems the rift only leads to a low level world. It’s not that dangerous.”
She calmly reported to Ivis. Everyone gave them a complex gaze. Even the serious Elena go along with his jokes. Haaah…
“What’s the matter?”
Elena glanced at them and asked Ivis. He just shook his head and frowned. Eh. They’re still not convinced?
Ivis sighed and gestured Elena to show them her ability. Elena simply nodded at him and cut something on the air. She grabbed something inside and after a few minutes, a huge mirror appeared on her hand. Everyone gasped in shock.
“Woah.”
Elena smiled then motioned her hand in the mirror.
After a few swipe, images appeared in the frame.
“This is?” Byul asked as he vaguely recalled the place showing in the mirror. It was Seoul!
Elena then focused the image on the news station and the clock there show it’s 8pm and next to it was a date indicating ‘06/25’
“It’s June 25th?”
Everyone became silent. Its only two weeks after they got here. Where did the one year go?
“Do you believe me now?” Ivis asked them with a smile.
Everyone just stared at him dumbfounded. Ah let us ask first. Where did that one year go? Ivis simply laugh and look at them with an elegant smile on his face.
“Well. I guess you guys finally believed it.”
“……”
Ptmp! “Don’t worry. You guys would definitely love it.” “….” Only this words were heard outside as the ten people got locked up in the TV room. A moment of silence for the ten players who got misled. A moment of silence for the ten fools who dug their own graves. A moment of silence for the ten people who no longer exists… And finally a moment of silence for the ten to peacefully straddle the fence. However, it was too late for the hopeless team to prevail. Ten people straddled in the room as they all listened to a cold voice. His voice is getting colder and colder as he spoke and the temperature that is initially high suddenly dropped to zero degrees. All people froze up when they heard the next words. “Whether you like it or not. You’re gonna go.” The creator plainly said as th
Byul had never been so lucky in his life. He always live in a shadow and had never got in the center of attention and was never been able to step out of the dark. He was like a fallen star, unable to rise again. Still, falling star granted him a perfect path. Byul was ordinary however, he was good in games. Lucky in tournaments, and always at the top when it comes to rank. He had an insane IQ and had lived up to his name. In the game world he was incredibly famous for his skills. He had compared his life over and over that he felt that staying inside the apartment all day, playing games was better than going to school. He would sit in front of his computer for almost the whole day and play online games not caring whether the university was cursing his existence. He was not bad in his reputation actually, he was still a good student, he excel in his academics. Just an av
Byul was immediately thrown into a cell. The two official nonchalantly tossed him inside the cell. Beside him was a line of cages with two or more persons inside. Byul tearfully rubbed his back that got scrape raw from the harsh haul he had experienced. Can't you guys be gentle at least?! What would you do if I got a scar? I value my precious body yoy know! He then glance at the other compartments with him and saw some group of people inside one of the cells and sighed in remorse. So. I'm all alone huh? Byul then stood up and clutched the cage bars to look at the surrounding area. There were few tents ahead and a lot of cage in front of him. Not only does the soldier's headquarters seems rigid, even humans are caged like beasts. The people inside look like beggars given the dirty smudge on their faces and the ragged clothes they wer
Imagine, from a who knows where to landing to a strange place and getting imprisoned like an animal then being transported to someone’s room. Seriously, Byul felt like he was treated like a parcel. Not only did the soldiers dragged him like a cattle in the journey, he was also casually thrown into a room. Who else wouldn’t pity himself like this. Byul instantly want to cry. It was really painful! Walking miles underneath the scorching sun. No water no rest! Ugh! I’m already burnt! Byul instinctively check his body and felt relieved after seeing that he was still the same. Good, good I’m still me. Byul tried to break free from the rope in his hand and soon give up. The rope was too tight! Not to mention he couldn’t see how he was tied up. It’s quite impossible to break free. Byul grumbled and lift his head to survey the room. There was a table in front of him with a stac
Silence filled the long corridor. Byul turned his head many times and still felt the eeriness of the place. No matter how he further he’d walked he always found himself near the two doors before his room. The hall became longer and longer that he felt exhausted walking many times without reaching the end. Byul felt the chill another time and soon a clinking sound was heard across the hallway. As he turned his head, prepared for the worst. He heard a loud beep followed by a panel appearing in front of him. Initializing…. Subject found… Player information: Seung Byul Ability: None Status: Newbie Level 1 Would you like to upgrade? Y/N A mechanical voice sounded from a blue panel in front of him. “….!” Byul surprisingly look at the screen
“I’ve searched the f*cking entire room and it was only here! Goddarn it!”Byul cursed as he glared at the fallen silver key. He then look at the panel and saw that he only had an hour and ten minutes left.“Damn it. I’ve wasted a lot of time because of you!”He yelled in anger as he pulled his hair up in frustration. He weakly reached out to the floor and grunted as he picked up the goddamn key.He checked the timer again and rested for a few more minutes before exiting the room.Byul glance at the corridor and tried to pass it however, it was still impossible. He felt the chill on his back again but this time he wasn’t at the same position where he got back before. He was actually next to the second door this time…Byul gulped and finally inserted the key on the hole. Maybe this door has the answers. He twiste
Byul stayed hidden in the dark as he cautiously watched the zombie plodding in the wide space. He glanced at the zombie’s face and thought of a conclusion. He wasn’t actually the undead who bite people and infected someone so that the world will became an apocalypse but a brain-dead person? His complexion was pale but not to the point it was rotting beneath and his movements were light-headed and he had no sense. He didn’t even attack him when he approached like the typical zombie who bites. Byul thoughtfully look at the person again. Don’t tell me this is actually the Duke??! Byul paled as he thought of it. Him, being the Duke here without servants and lives in an abandoned place. Now, everything sums up! They left this house and the lord t9 isolate him but why? Byul was then halted by a ‘ding ding!’ sound as the screen drifted in front of him an
The forest was vast and was enormously covered with tall trees and shrubs. The leaves were dreary green and the place really comes off with a gloomy atmosphere. Byul entered the forest while dragging the Duke with him. He don’t want to abandon his reward you see. If he actually had to control this jiangshi, he need to find some talisman. How come the system didn’t reward him some? Does it actually expect him to control it manually? Byul shook his head in disappointment. He glanced meaningfully at the Duke and thought that it was very behaved. He didn’t walked aimlessly this time but silently followed him instead. As he was figuring his way out of the forest, the system beep and another task was laid in front of him. Sigh, this system must be reading my mind. He even knows what I’m thinking. Byul didn’t need to look at the task because he already knew what it is but he was really hooked on the
Blood dripped down the blade of his knife on the ground. Getting himself bitten carelessly made his body tremble. It was the worst injury he could have possibly possessed but in the meantime, he felt his consciousness fading. It was such a long journey and he finally able to find his way into this world. Every part of his body aches and he couldn’t even squeezed out a word. Maybe it was because of the pain in his neck but the man only felt helpless. He could finally, finally saw him again and yet he was already this exhausted without even seeing a shred of his hair. Such a disgraceful appearance, if he was seen like this, they’d definitely freak out.He lift his head up to the sky as he subconsciously let go of the knife in his hand. His whole body was trembling, it was throbbing like crazy in the part where he was bitten by those things. His hand shook and as soon as he realized it, he was kneeling on the ground as he helplessly fight back with the remaining consciousness he had.The
Byul was really tired of being wrapped around his fingers. After the deed was done, he can only feel himself crumbling away. Where was his pride? He never imagined that he would be so disappointed about himself like this. Perhaps, it was because of his stubbornness that lead him to such ending but seeing how the situation turned pretty much out of his own grasps. He just don’t want to do a single thing anymore.Problem is, he had no way to take back the words he hurled to him in the past and he could never recover from the humiliation he felt. It was pathetic and he can’t even say anything at all. The only thing in his mind right now was to either forget everything and move on or cling to his crumbling resolve. No matter how much he put on weight to his hatred, he can only feel the undeniable guilt slapping back.Well, it doesn’t really matter. So long he never let go of his remaining pride…That morning, they prepared for the next action to take. The zombies still haven’t reached the
‘Hnn…’Byul worked up groggily. As he open his eyes, he felt heavy because of the arms wrapped around his waist tightly clutched him with no escape. He absentmindedly looked at it for a moment. Few minutes later, he slowly moved his body wanting to sat up when he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his lower half as if he just got stabbed with a knife.F*cking hell! It hurts like a b*tch! He cursed inside as he silently reprimanded himself or endure the pain to sit. When the blanket slip away from his chest, the horrifying evidence of last night immediately welcomed his eyes. After realizing what happened, he immediately shove the arms away from him and face palmed guiltily. His whole face paled as he finally recalled everything that happened to them.“Haah…”To think he was gasping and moaning under this bastard’s embrace made him feel ashamed of himself. How could he? Of all people with this guy?! Byul stared at the bastard’s face and heaved a long sigh. Damn it. What now? He couldn’t bel
“Stop…”Byul whimpered in a soft voice as he slapped away the naughty hand crawling all over his chest. The surrounding became silent but he could clearly hear the heavy breathing next to his ears. It was a slow, ragged breath that made his face turned bright red. What is this bastard planning to do? He really couldn’t comprehend his actions anymore. He thought he already turned over a new leaf and didn’t care about their past anymore but what is he doing now?The warm air crawl down to his nape as the soft, warm lips planted a small kiss on his skin. The kiss was gentle and ticklish and Byul felt as if bolts of electricity are being sent into his body. The little lamb trembled a bit as the warm feeling started to spread all over his body. It was yet again that feeling he already forgotten long ago. It was strange yet familiar to him and that’s exactly why he can’t shake off the memory of that passionate night. The gentle kisses turned aggressive and Byul felt the naughty hands snakin
Finally, it was the 10th of the next month and Byul had fully recovered his health. It was all thanks to Stanley’s newly discovered ability. Master’s Bond connect both of their state. If he was hurt, Stanley would get hurt, if he’s dead but Stanley’s alive, he’ll be alive. Though, he don’t want to accept the fact he was saved by him again. He just put most of the credit to his own skill, regeneration. After leaving the soldier’s camp, they encountered many zombies along the way and it almost held back their escape. Fortunately, he was thinking straight that time and only had the guts to control ten percent of his ability to flee from the zombies’ claws. The two of them battled day and night and without even realizing it, they already reached the next city which was from a hundred miles away. The infection already affect half of the global population, continuing and it’s only a matter of time for the two of them to annihilate every last being alive…He blamed the people for their carel
Byul have no idea of what was going on at all. He was senseless, painless and casted out of the hurtful reality. His brain and body are numb and he couldn’t think, couldn’t feel. All he could obey was his instincts. His instincts to strive, kill and rip everything into shreds. He can also only feel the unending thirstiness in his throat, the strong urge to bite and gnaw at someone’s flesh. Everything felt so unreal but that’s all he could ever think of.In fact, he already lost his will. He can only stare and see the bloody mess in front of him by he couldn’t do anything. He don’t want to do anything but to just stare and wait for the next prey he could bury his teeth on. It was such a disastrous thought but he doesn’t know. All he could ever think was how will the blood ooze from those bite marks? How would his next prey slowly turned just like him and how he would fight and survive? All that simple yet disastrous thoughts ran on his head. And right now…He felt just one thing.‘It h
The suffering was endless and Stanley couldn’t keep himself from giving in to that unquenchable thirst. He was so excited, anxious, mad whatever you call that emotion. He couldn’t keep his cool, no matter how much he tried to suppress the urge it’s just pointless. He can’t even feel his own body obeying him. It felt so numb and stiff as if he’s a walking corpse. The whiff of blood and the smell of decay basked his sense of smell making him unable to breathe. It was suffocating and disgusting that he could feel himself being destroyed inside. It burns beneath and he was losing his mind.If it wasn’t for the shared sense, he wouldn’t feel this way but thinking that Byul was in a state like this, the feeling of uneasiness washed over his pain. All he could ever think of was,Find him..Save him…Eat him…
Filled with all the stabs in his body, the tearing pain washed over him. The youth screamed in agony, his arms and legs are restrained by an electric chair. The blood from his wounds dyed his seat red as the stabbing, piercing and tearing of the flesh continued.Byul gasped.Regardless of how hard he struggle, his body limped being electrocuted as soon as he tried to resist. The pain wasn’t something he couldn’t take, something that he never experienced before. The goddamn pain truly came from the soul, his mental state is strong but his body isn’t.Just how long could he be able to take the pain? Byul have no idea what time it is or how long have he been held in the torture room. His body had grown numb and the old cuts dried and reopened again. Just. Just. Stop it already. He want to scream, scream so loud to voice out the pain but he couldn’t, his mouth is gagged with a clo
Kacha! The door eventually opened up and the soldiers came inside to inspect the lab room.Stanley immediately dart his attention to the soldiers. In this time around, he wasn’t worried about the possibility of them uncovering their lies. However, he was more angry than worried about Byul blabbing his useless mouth. The idiot just woke up and was wondering why the place became crowded at this hour. It was only after the sunrise so he was quite surprised. Stanley just gave him a meaningful loo- no rather a deadly glare signaling him to shut his trap.Fu Yuan walked near the table filled with messy files. His eyes slowly traveled the room and suspiciously landed on the next door. There were no sounds coming from the inside anymore and judging by the relaxed atmosphere, they must’ve a breakthrough last night or so he thought.“Any progress about your research?” The lieutenant ask
