5. Competition

I woke up bright and early the next day.

The sleep was great, best I've ever had. I changed into some clothes and went to the kitchen and started cooking breakfast.

Never did I knew someone was actually watching me in the shadows cooking.

Hayden's POV

She's beautiful. She's perfect. She's gorgeous. She's strong. She's the perfect Luna.

I watched as she started to take out some eggs and a pan. She cracked open the eggs with ease and let it drip onto the pan.

The egg yolk started sizzling as it turned white. I then smelled strong egg scent through my nose.

She dropped the egg to a plate and added soya sauce. She then proceeded to cook the bacon in another frying pan and settled the plates.

After three sets of that, she stood up and wiped sweat off her face and looked at her dish with satisfaction.

I saw her take a deep breath.

She walked to the knife area as I watched her cautiously as she took a knife. Then, she let the knife slice her wrist.

I was about to go when she said a few words.

"Mama, this was a tradition you made up. You said that when I find my mate, I shall pledge my loyalty to him by cutting my wrist and let the blood drip till it's dry. Well, I've finally done it. Your death wish has been granted. I love you mama. Papa, I hope your treating mama right up there. I hope you're proud of me." She said.

I just stood there motionless. I could just watched as she refrained from letting tears run down her cheeks.

Every inch of my body was urging me to run up to her and hug her. But being the stupid me, I just watched.

She stood there silently and looked at her wrist again, it had healed.

"But this doesn't mean I'm willing to be luna." She whispered.

I whimpered a little, feeling slightly hurt.

She then took some oranges and started squeezing the juice out. She threw the oranges into the bin and put the glass juice on the table and wrote something on a piece of paper and started to walk to my direction.

I darted away and hid somewhere where she wouldn't see me.

I watched her go upstairs and close the door and walked to the kitchen table to see what she wrote.

Enjoy your breakfast Diana, Luna (girl who I was strangling) and Alpha.

I was shocked as she called Amanda her Luna.

She's the Luna! My mate is the Luna! Not Amanda!

I saw she had scribbled away a word before Alpha. Seems she wrote something else but cancelled it out.

I flipped the paper and certainly, the pressure of that word was still there.

3 T A M

It's spelt Mate.

She-she called me mate...

I tore the paper and threw it into the bin.

This will not be acceptable. I swung her door open and saw her combing her hair.

She turned her head.

"Alpha." She lowered her head.

"Why?"

"Why what?"

"Why did you place Amanda as Luna?!"

She smirked.

"How did you find out so soon? I merely wrote that 5 minutes ago."

Shit.

"I just woke up early. When I got down, the paper was already there."

"Oh?"

"Yes."

She sighed.

"Anything else alpha?"

"Come to training." I just blurted.

"But I'm just a maid."

"There are no maids in this pack. We do things ourselves." And I left.

_________ POV

He was spying on me. That was for sure.

But training? I haven't trained in 15 years. Yet, everything that I was taught, remained in tact in my mind.

Kyra had made every effort to make sure I never forgotten them. And she always pictured fighting techniques in my mind. I could say that I've been practicing dots on the paper. And they were perfect.

I changed to some sports wear and headed outside.

By then, it was 7 am.

I went out to the forest where I saw everyone gathering. And I saw my mate standing in front...shirtless.

Just then, that same girl from the cells came up and stood beside my mate.

I curled my fist to reduce my anger.

"Hey, why is she here?" She asked.

I looked up when I heard her words of disgust.

"I told her to join." Mate explained.

"What!"

"Amanda."

"But she's a prisoner!"

"She's not!"

"She is!"

"So you've come to argue with the alpha? Amanda, 20 rounds around the border now. No breaks."

"You can't do that! I'm the luna!"

"And I'm the alpha."

She was about to talk back but quickly shut her mouth.

Then she started running.

"Alpha." I called.

Everyone turned to my direction when I spoke.

"Is is possible to run with her?" I asked.

He thought for a moment.

"Why?"

"I..haven't been running in a long time. Just want to feel free."

"Then go ahead."

I nodded and started running.

I ran at a faster speed to catch up with her. I believe her name was Amanda.

She spotted me and started laughing at my face.

"So you got into trouble so soon?"

"I can say the same for you."

She gasped.

"What do you say? A competition?" I asked.

"What's the catch?"

"If I win, you are to apologise to Alpha and always show him respect."

"And if I win?"

"I'll forever be loyal to you to do what you command."

She smirked in satisfaction. Guess she likes people in her control.

"But I have to warn you, I'm the best female fighter in this pack." She said proudly.

I smirked.

"I'm always ready to take up a challenge."

We both nodded to each other and the race began. Amanda charged forward quickly while I just remained my pace.

After I saw her disappear from view, I ran at full speed. Kyra was in sky high. She always loved to go full speed.

I ran past Amanda and saw her shocked face. I ignored her and continued running at lightning speed.

Close enough, I ended 20 rounds in 3 hours.

I just stood at where I started, waiting for her with everyone else.

2 hours later, I finally saw her coming back.

She was panting heavily. But I didn't even break a sweat. I just walked up to her and placed my hand on her shoulder.

"I win." I whispered in her ear.

"Y-you cheated." She panted.

I let go of her and pushed her to the floor.

"Then tell me, how?"

"I d-don't know. But you were going faster than a full werewolf speed."

"Haven't you wondered, maybe it's just a family trait?"

She looked down in defeat.

"You're weak." I said.

That caught her attention and she shot her eyes up at me.

"If you're the luna to such a strong pack in the world, you should be out-running me. But instead, you're slower than me by 2 hours. What kind of Luna are you?"

"The kind with power!"

I turned to the pack.

"Does she smell power?"

Everyone said nothing, but they just lowered their heads.

I turned back to her.

"You remember our deal."

"Never! I'm suppose to win!"

"But you didn't."

She slammed her first to the ground and kept screaming and whining.

"Apologise. Apologise to the alpha." I said.

Mate came to me and stood beside me. He was so close. Maybe too close.

"What deal?"

"Alpha, I made a deal with her by running. If I were to win, she has to apologise to you for what's she did earlier and respect you after since that's her job as Luna."

"And if you lost?"

"I would obey her every word."

He looked at me with anger in his eyes. But why?
