Angel was waiting for Dave on the bed. Her husband came home late and is currently cleaning himself in the bathroom. Angel put the white folder under the pillow. She would take it out later when they talked.
While waiting, Angel thought of a series of words she would say to Dave. To be sure, she didn't want to seem overly enthusiastic, afraid that she might turn out to be wrong and that would upset him. Angel will only reveal that this is her routine health check.
Dave finally came out of the bathroom. He only glanced at Angel before leaving to check his phone which he put on the sofa.
“Dave!” called Angel out of impatience.
“Hm.”
"How was your job today?" Angel asked for small talk.
While holding his phone, Dave stepped closer to Angel. "Everything's fine," Dave replied. He put his phone on the nightstand and climbed onto the bed. His warm gaze met Angel's nervously blinking eyes. "Why ask?" he asked.
Angel shook her head. "It
Angel's pregnancy, which was confirmed that night, also reached Kina, who had just entered her room. She stared at the phone screen with a flat gaze. Her hands gripped tightly. With all the emotions wracked in her heart, she slammed the object onto the floor, making a loud sound. Her phone was thrown several times before landing with a shattered screen, but Kina didn't seem to care. She simply glanced away towards the bed, plopped down onto the covers, before letting out a muffled scream. *** The next morning, Angel was escorted by Dave to the shop in a car driven by a driver. "Are you sure?" Dave asked for the umpteenth time this morning. Angel smiled amusedly. "I'm sure, yes. Besides, pregnant women have to move a lot. It's dangerous if I just stay at home doing nothing. After all, it's only the early weeks. Don't worry," Angel said, comforting her husband who had been persuading her to stay at home instead of going to the flower shop as usual.
Afternoon came very quickly. Dave just called Angel and said he'd stop by for lunch. Angel knew how busy her husband was, so she was overjoyed when Dave said they should have lunch together. However, Angel felt bad about Kina's presence. Because while Angel is happy, his sister is sad. Angel doesn't know what the problem is, but she is sure that this must have something to do with Kina's adoptive family. Even Kina no longer brought up the happy news that Angel shared last night, making the pregnant woman reluctant to discuss it. Because even until this afternoon, Kina still looks gloomy and continues to cling to Angel wherever she goes."Dave is coming this afternoon?" asked Kina as they were spraying green leaves on the back porch of the shop. Kina's voice sounded unenthusiastic, making Angel turn her head."Yes, he will come," she replied.“Hmmm.”“….”The silence that stretched between them this time was somehow su
Years later….The dimly hushed sound of the bar was getting more deafening when it was past midnight. Vida tried to find an untouched place in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the atmosphere and she managed to find a place in the corner, near the area leading to the toilet which was a little dark and quiet. Her eyes glanced at the dance floor which was so crowded and full of people moving their bodies to the beat, carried away by the atmosphere.Really, it wasn't her desire to be here. However, what can she do? She needs money. They all need money. Her parents used to be rich, but due to the actions of her mother's twin named Kina, everything fell apart. Her parents' household, Angel and David, became disorganized because of Kina's cunning interference. Vida had never met the figure of Kina, but she really hoped to never meet her. She was angry at what she had done, but she didn't want to rekindle the flames of revenge either.
Vida got home at three in the morning. Luckily the bar owner was kind enough to provide a vehicle for his bar maid girls, otherwise Vida might have to wait for the sun to rise until she can find public transportation back home. After all, she needed to go to sleep soon. At six in the morning she had to get up, prepare breakfast and lunch for her father, then go to work. Her unemployed father must have been fast asleep when she left for work, but at least she had left him some food. She was so tired and lacked sleep. Vida's mind was heavy thinking about tomorrow. All day at the office, coming home at five in the afternoon, then immediately getting dressed to go to work again as a bar maid. Really, her days feel so tough, but she must be strong. Her father couldn't even support himself, so Vida was completely alone in this world and had to fend for herself. Her eyes suddenly glanced at her handbag. Sitting on the edge of the bed, she opened the bag, took out
Vida widened her eyes in confusion as the blue-eyed man dragged her through the passageway from the toilet to the back door of the bar. There was no one there and no one to turn to for help. Usually there are bodyguards guarding the back of the bar, but because tonight the bar was quite busy with visitors, all the bodygyards were on duty at the front. In the end Vida could only give up, letting the man half drag her with wide strides. However, when at last the man's steps stopped, Vida immediately jerked her hand and freed herself from the man. The man let her off easily, but still stood in front of her as if to prevent her from running.Vida suddenly felt scared. What if this man was mean to her, trying to rape her? It was quiet here and the screams would surely be overpowered by the loud banging music up ahead. Her terrified expression must have been readable as a cold smile instantly appeared on the blue eyed man's lips."Don't dream too far. I won't t
"Oh, then I'm sorry." Vida immediately realized that the man in front of her was not the man she was supposed to meet. She must find Mr. Arga who is now somewhere. "Looks like I entered the wrong room."Vida nervously stood up from her seat, then half bowed politely towards Liam. She hastily turned around to walk away from the room."You didn't enter the wrong room, Vida, you really should have come here. I told Mr. Arga to leave earlier."Liam's words made Vida's steps near the door stop. She then turned around and looked at him in confusion. "You told Mr. Arga to leave? So my transfer has something to do with you?"Liam smiled sweetly. "Your transfer is only used as a tool so I can meet you without causing gossip. Even your current superiors in administration don't know anything about this. I put you under the supervision of Mr. Arga because he is one of the people I trust in this company."Liam gestured with his hand. "Come, si
Vida opened the door to her house and immediately asked, "What does the Wijaya family have to do with me?" she was still staring warily at the man dressed as a chauffeur. The man looked confused what to answer. He then took out a photo and a letter envelope of beautiful golden paper."I don't know, miss. Mr. Roy Wijaya told me to give this to you. He said, after you see this, you will definitely want to come with me to the Wijaya family's residence," he answered as he handed the envelope and photo sheet into Vida's hand. She received the photo and envelope of the letter. She turned over the photo that had yellowed with age and then frowned when she saw it. The woman in this photo is similar to her mother, but certainly not her mother because given the age of the photo, her mother could not have reached this age several decades ago. Then… this was her grandmother in youth, Vida immediately concluded. People used to always say that her mother was ver
Two fiancées at once?Who would want to have two fiancées in this world? Vida never imagined she would get one fiancé out of nowhere, let alone two.Vida looked at the faces all over the room and was confused. All eyes were on her and she seemed to be pressed for a choice, not to mention Reeves' blue eyes were staring at her with an implied threat.Reeves must have been trying to remind Vida that she had to return the favor to him because he had put so much money in her account. However, Vida also remembered Liam's words, that she had to be fair to him, that he deserved to be given the opportunity to compete fairly.Vida's face grew pale, confused. If she chooses, doesn't that mean she's voting for her future? She must marry the man of her choice, right? Was there no chance for Vida to refuse this engagement? She can't just accept this matchmaking, can she? Vida has the right to determine her own future husband, r
"Are you okay?" Reeves asked the woman beside him who had been silent for a while with a sad face, occasionally glancing at the wounds on Reeves' body.Reeves chuckled. "You have to look at yourself. You're hurt too, Vida. Don't worry too much about me. I'm fine."Vida immediately looked away and rubbed the corners of her eyes. Her whole body was screaming in pain, but the injuries to Reeves' body were so much worse that the pain Vida was suffering seemed to be nothing.“Take it easy. Soon the doctor will come to examine us again.”Vida laid her body tensely on the hospital bed which felt very uncomfortable. Shw just wanted to get out of here immediately and dispel all thoughts of the accident earlier. They were finally placed in a VIP room together at Roy Wijaya's request after some time. He just wanted his men to be able to keep an eye on them without being split into two rooms like before.Meanwhile, even though their injuries
The wind blew the blinds on the open windows. The breeze was cool and immediately hit Mira's face who was sitting on her bed with a blank stare at the cotton tree outside, where two birds were making nests—picking up small branches and arranging them on one of the tree's branches. Apparently, the two birds are a couple, who are building a house for their future children. The birds then reminded Mira of her relationship with her husband. Which over the years has cooled and cannot be called fine. They too used to be like the bird, building their harmonious home for their dear son; Reeves. However, all of that was broken like a storm and rain which one day would also hit the bird's nest on the cotton tree, the presence of an illegitimate child, who Mira never suspected existed. As a result of all that, she became like this. Spent the rest of her meaningless life on a lonely bed. Her husband is somewhere, she doesn't care. But her son ... Mira missed him. She
A few moments later, Roy Wijaya's assistant came after completing the administration. He also informed that Miss Vida has been transferred to the VIP room which is the best service in this hospital.“Master, Miss Vida has already been transferred to the VIP room. Are you going to see her for a bit?” reported the assistant to Roy Wijaya.“Is Miss Vida awake? I will ask her a little information," asked the policeman then took out his notebook. The assistant turned to Roy Wijaya intending to ask his permission whether he could tell the police or not. Roy Wijaya just nodded in agreement."Yes, Miss Vida is awake and she was taking her medicine earlier," replied the assistant. He then invited Roy Wijaya to walk first. The three of them then walked to the top floor, which is a special VIP room floor using the elevator for guests. When they got there, they saw Vida had
Their trip was fine at first. Reeves with a cool style while driving while Vida with a happy face because she will eat food which is one of her favorites. Until suddenly a truck came from behind. It looks like the truck had a brake failure and at high speed descended the downhill road. The truck crashed into the car that was being ridden by Reeves and Vida unavoidably. Due to the force of the collision, the rear body of the car was badly damaged and both their heads bounced forward and hit the windshield. The seat belts managed to keep them from hitting the windshield and shattering them and throwing their bodies forward, which has been confirmed that down there is a ravine, with very hard and sharp rocks down there.Reeves' car horn blared as his cheek pressed against the center of the steering wheel causing the noise. However, it was thanks to the noise that people who were around the scene ran towards the accident. They wanted to help the two of them but both
Vida couldn't believe what she heard with her own ears. She even banged her ears for fear of having trouble with her ears. Reeves who was annoyed to see the girl's behavior restrained her hand so as not to hit her head again.“If you want to hit your head, at least not in front of me!” said Reeves curtly. Vida pouted. She became awkward again when she realized Reeves' hand was holding hers. Likewise with the man who did not realize that he had touched her without his permission. He finally let go of the hand of a woman who would easily smile if she saw something she thought was funny.“I apologize for what I said a few days ago. I was a little too much at the time," said Reeves shyly admitting his mistake."A little? You say a little too much? You've hurt my feelings so much. Do you know that, Mr. Reeves Wijaya?” Vida sarcastically let out the feelings in her heart.&ldq
A few dozen minutes later Reeves' car stopped on a hill with a fairly large parking lot. Not many people were there. Just a few people with their partners. It's the same with the two of them who came in pairs."What place is this?" Vida looked through the windshield to see the place they had visited that night.Reeves half holding back his smile. "You'll find out later. Come on down," he muttered in his usual flat tone for Vida."I don't want to. Until you answer my question, I'm not getting out of the car. Answer quickly! What place is this? Why did you bring me here?" Vida asked just as stubbornly. She folded her arms in front of her chest.Reeves rolled his eyes. "Just come along, Vida, I won't do anything bad to you if you're worried about that." The man was silent for a moment. "Or do you want us to stay here all night?" He shrugged. "I don't mind, you know."Vida is s
Holding back his anger, Liam intends to follow Reeves, who is taking Vida to the rehab where Vida's father is being treated. He could have been made to lose steps from his half-brother. If this continues, that girl's heart might be stolen by that damn Reeves. This cannot be tolerated. As long as he was still breathing, he would keep trying to get Vida's attention at all costs. He would never be willing to lose in any case to Reeves.Driving the BMW 8 Series Coupe, the latest luxury car with beautiful and futuristic body curves, Liam penetrated the city streets which at that time was approaching the hour of work for the workers or employees. Of course he couldn't get to his destination right away because of the traffic jams which annoyed him immensely.Several times the sound of honking horns was heard because they were impatient with each other. Due to the noise that is waiting for him in front of his eyes, plus Liam who was annoyed to hear
Only Reeves and Vida were in the room. Vida observed him leaning casually on the door. The man now looked as usual, looking handsome. The girl's eyes traced his lips and then her cheeks flushed red as the memory of her kiss with him on the balcony hit her straight away. Reeves seemed to know what was on Vida's mind. Maybe because he saw her cheeks suddenly turn bright red."Would you like to go with me?" suddenly Reeves asked. "You don't have anything to do this holiday, do you?"In fact she have. Vida wants to visit her father in rehab while today is a holiday. "No, I have something to do."Instantly Reeves gaze sharpened. "You're going with Liam?"Vida frowned. "No. I don't even know where Liam is. I'm going to visit my father.""In rehab?" Reeves looked thoughtful for a moment. "I'll take you," he continued later, in an undeniably firm voice."No need!" Vida half shouted to refuse. She couldn't imagine spending her day off with Reeves, le
Liam half slams the door to his room, his breath panting and he furrows his brows, actually frowning at the pain. Cold sweat ran down his forehead and he felt excruciating pain all over his body. Liam tried to catch his breath, but a rancid smell wafted from his nose filled with fresh blood, flowing non-stop until it reached frightening levels. He wiped the blood from his nose with his handkerchief, then threw the red handkerchief on the floor. His legs were shaking, he was shuffling trying to reach the bed, but apparently the bed was too far for him.His body fell to the floor, losing consciousness. When Liam opened his eyes, he was in a faint white room. His eyes blinked because of the light that contrasted with the darkness that always surrounded him. Having overcome the light, Liam looked around the room. The first thing he saw was Roy Wijaya. The old man looked somber, sitting in the chair next to his bed."Grandpa, you come back from London?"
