Jillie's POV

I was pulled out of my sleep by the feeling that someone was watching me. I sat up in bed and looked around the room. My eyes shot to the corner when I thought I saw something move. I switched on the bedside lamp, but there was nothing there. I shivered, and my eyes went to the window. It was open, and the curtains were blowing in the breeze. Then I saw something blur across the window. It was so fast that I couldn't make out if it were a person or just the shadow from a tree outside.

"Jarren," I whispered, shaking him.

"What's wrong?" he asked, eyes still closed.

"There's something outside the house."

"Yeah, trees," he said, trying to pull me back down.

I rolled my eyes because I knew he wasn't really hearing me. "No, Jarren, I saw something move."

"There is nothing out-"

He cut off mid-sentence and sat up, barring his fangs. He looked around the room and then at the window. He got out of bed and walked over to it. I heard a low growl esca

  • Bitten   43: I Want to Try

Jarren’s POV I was pissed. Why was she so insistent on putting herself in danger? I couldn’t even believe she’d think of something like that. There was no way in hell that I was going to bite her. I’d done that once, and I hated myself. Why the hell would she think that I’d do it again? I bent over the counter—elbows on top of it, with my face in my hands. I took deep breaths calming myself. Here I was, being mad at her for thinking something so stupid, and I should have been angry at myself as well. I’d walked away from her again. Once I calmed down, which took a few minutes, I opened the bathroom door. She was lying in bed with her back to me. I walked over and slid into bed slowly. I put my hand o

Everything was a shade of calming blue.“New place?” I asked.“Well, I have to keep it interesting.” She responded. I nodded. “Your father told me you needed to speak with me.”“I do, but not here,” I said, gesturing to the dream surroundings.“Then when? He said it was important.”

Jarren's POVAfter we finished eating, we went into the living room to watch a movie. The girls decided on ‘Alice in Wonderland.’ We sat there and watched the movie. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. It was actually pretty good.“Now what?” Kaileeh asked after the movie was over.“Let’s go shopping,” Sage suggested.“You want to go back toward home to go shopping?” Rian asked with a raised eyebrow.“Nope. The other way,” she told him.“The closest town that way is over four hours,” Garret informed her.“The closest hum

Jillie’s POV We walked into the store, leaving the boys outside. We followed Kaileeh over to the corsets. She picked up a red one and held it up.“This is cute.”“That is ugly,” I told her. It really was hideous. It was red with lime-green stripes. What person in their right mind would like that, but then again, this was Kaileeh, and anything that resembled Christmas, no matter the time of year, appealed to her.“Why would you need that anyway?” I asked her.

Jarren’s POV When we got back to the house, Jillie and I carried her bags into the room. I was still pissed. I dropped the sacks on the bed and walked over to the closet. I took a package of blood out of the refrigerator and poured it into a cup. I put it in the microwave and started it. Once it stopped, I took the cup out and downed it.“Better?” Jillie asked.“Honestly? Not really. I’m still ticked.”“It’s okay.”“No, it’s not,” I told her.“Alright,” she said, walking over to the bed. “How am I going to get all of this in my suitcase?” she asked. I knew she was trying to change the subject.“Pick the things you really want to take back with you and hang the others in the closet,” I told her.“You make it sound like we’ll be coming here often.”“If that’s what you want.” She smiled before taking clothes out of the bags. “Are you hungry?”“A little.” She responded.I walked over and kissed her forehead. “I think I’ll get Garret, and we’ll cook dinner.” She nodded befo

Jillie’s POV I watched as Jarren got up and made his way down the hall. I could tell he was still a little upset about what happened earlier today. I’d have to talk to him tonight about it. It really wasn’t a big deal, even though she pissed me off. His defending me made him look like the bad guy, and that’s something I never wanted. I turned my attention back to the game, and it was my turn. I only had about seven cards in my hand, and if I played them just right, I’d have one left after this turn. I lay down the three skips, so it was my turn again. I then lay down the three reverse, so now it was going the other way, and it was Kaileeh’s turn.

Jarren’s POV She lifted her hips and moved her pelvis against me. It was more than I could stand, and I had to pull back. I looked down at her, and her hazel eyes were clouded with lust. I’m sure mine were probably the same. She leaned up and kissed my chin, then my neck and chest. I closed my eyes, taking deep breaths. Her lips left my chest, and I looked down at her. She was so damn beautiful. No creature I’d ever met was as beautiful as she was to me. I dipped my head, and my lips went to her jawline and then trailed down to her neck. I gently kissed and sucked on it before going up to nibble on her ear. I made my way back to her neck and sucked gently. I moved my lips back to hers. She pulled away and took one of

Jillie’s POV I took a deep breath. My hands were both shaking. I’d been avoiding this for two weeks now. It was too painful. I knelt in front of the headstone. Running my fingers over the engraved words, tears slowly ran down my cheeks. “Hey, Mal,” I stated through my tears. “I’m sorry I didn’t come sooner. I just couldn’t live with the guilt of knowing this happened because of me.” I stated quietly. “But the guilt I felt for leaving your funeral early and trying to stay away outweighed that.” I took another deep breath. “This sucks, Mal. This really is unfair. We were supposed to make up, and everything was supposed to get better between us. It wasn’t supposed to happen like this. Me sitting here crying my eyes out and talking to your headstone.” I paused for a minute. “We were supposed to do so much together. Go to college, get married, and have kids. Oh, speaking of kids, Alyx is pregnant. I know she wasn’t your favorite person, but I also know how much you like kids.”

I think there’s a door over there.” Garret stated.“Who screamed earlier?” I asked. I’d been so occupied that I hadn’t stopped to see who it was. I just knew it wasn’t Jillie. My eyes scanned the room until they landed on Mallory on the floor in a pool of blood. I then saw Mina on the floor as well. I shook my head. She was the only vampire I knew that could be easily

I glared at Xander before finally letting him go. I made my way over to the sitting area in the library.“Well, what did she see?”“She said she saw people, but they were more like shadows.”“Shado

I heard her say my name a few times, but that was it. At first, I couldn’t make out the rest of what she was saying.“Jarren, stop it!” She screamed. I looked at everyone in the room, confused.“Stop what, Piccolo?” I asked, moving closer to the bed. I let out a hiss as pain ripped through my right side. What the hell was that? I lift my shirt slowly to see a wound. It looked like fire hit me. I could feel all eyes in th

Jarren's POVMaking my way through the trees, I ran nowhere in particular. Just trying to run my frustration out. I’d been moving for hours, running to the next city over and beyond before returning. I was still a bit agitated. I continued to run until I was outside Jillie’s house. It was after two in the morning. I knew she was sleeping, but I couldn’t stop myself from waking her. I pulled out my phone and hit her speed dial button. It rang five times before going to voicemail. I hung up and called again. This time she answered on the fourth ring.“Hello,” she answered groggily.“Come outside.”“Okay.” I could hear her moving around. “Give me a minute,” she stated before hanging up. I slipped my phone back into my pocket. I crossed my arms over my chest and leaned against the house. I couldn’t go inside for what I

  • Bitten   96: Reincarnation

Unknown POV It was all coming together now. Everything I’d worked so hard for the last hundred and fifty-plus years was coming true. It took me a while to get to this point, but the reward at the end would be well worth it. Rising from my seat, I made my way to the window. Looking out, I was met by the vast expanse of trees. Secluded and, at the same time, visible.“Brother.”“Have a seat. I have something I want you to do for me, sister.”“I’m listening.”“There’s a full moon Friday night. This is what I need you to do….”
