Jarren's POV

I woke up the following day, and it was after ten. I pulled on a pair of jeans and a blue long-sleeve sweater. I grabbed a suitcase and started putting clothes in it. Once I was done, I headed into the kitchen. Garret was sitting at the bar.

“I made breakfast.” He stated.

I walked over to the stove and saw bacon, eggs, and oatmeal. I fixed myself a plate and sat at the bar beside him. We ate in silence. Once I was done, I put my plate into the dishwasher and warmed up a blood package. When it was done, I poured it into a glass and gulped it down. I was really getting tired of packaged blood.

“Are you packed?” I asked.

“Yeah.”

“Good, we’re leaving in about ten minutes.” He nodded, and I walked out of the kitchen.

                I went to my ro

Jarren's POV The rest of the ride was silent. No one was talking. Everyone simply thinking. Needless to say, the game came to an end. I felt terrible for giving Kaileeh that dare and wished I could take it back, but I couldn’t. We pulled up to the cabin about thirty minutes later. I gave Jillie the key, and she and Kaileeh headed inside while Garret and I got the bags from the trunk.“So, what do you think?” Garret asked.“I think that we need to talk to Nunny.”“I agree, but do you think Kaileeh’s the one?”“Well, you said you think she’s your soul mate, but we won’t know for sure if she&rsquo

Jarren's POVI woke up the next morning, and Jillie wasn’t beside me. I got out of bed and walked into the bathroom. I turned on the shower and slipped inside. After washing my body and rinsing off, I got out of the shower and wrapped a towel around my waist. I walked back into the bedroom and over to the closet. I pulled out a pair of jeans and a black long-sleeve shirt. I slid on a pair of boxers and then slipped on my clothes. I put on a pair of socks and headed out of the room. Rounding the corner to go into the kitchen, I was stopped in my tracks.“Go in the living room with the rest of them,” Sage told me. I didn’t argue. I just walked into the living room. The rest of the guys were sitting in there as well.“What are they doing in there?” Aaden asked.“Fixing breakfast

We all looked at her.“Let me see that,” Alyx said, taking the piece of paper. “Pants, idiot,” she said, rolling her eyes.“It doesn’t take much.” I heard Kaileeh whisper.“You have to be cute.” Scarlett finally answered. Sage was next.“Give a lap dance to the person next to you.” She looked between Alyx and Rian, who were both beside her, as if debating. “I need some music,” she said. I grabbed my phone and turned on Pandora. ‘Sexy Back’ by Justin Timberlake played. &n

Jillie’s POV I walked into the room, and over to the cup I’d sat on the nightstand. I heard the door close a minute later. I turned around, and Jarren was standing there. He was leaning against the door with his fist clenched. I looked into his eyes, and they weren’t the gorgeous gray/blue that I loved. They were changing. I held the cup out to him. He raised an eyebrow before walking over and taking it.“How did you-”“Closet,” I said, pointing and cutting him off. “Why else keep a fridge and a microwave in there?” I then asked, causing him to laugh. I sat on the bed and looked intently at me. He then looked down at the cup. I laughed a little, and his head snapped back to me.“You know you can go ahead and drink it,” I told him. “It’s not gonna freak me out or anythi

Jarren's POV I finally decided I could go back to the house after hours of calming down and feeding some. I walked through the front door, and everybody was in the living room—everybody except the person I wanted to see."Umm…hey man. Can we talk?" Aaden asked, wasting no time. I looked at him like he was stupid and then headed into the kitchen.I leaned up against the counter. "Talk," I told him."I'm sorry, man. I was just mad that Scarlett kissed you. She's not supposed to want anyone else but me when I'm around, and it pissed me off that she wanted to kiss you. I know that what I did was childish in the moment, and I shouldn't have let it get to me, but I did."

Jillie's POV I was pulled out of my sleep by the feeling that someone was watching me. I sat up in bed and looked around the room. My eyes shot to the corner when I thought I saw something move. I switched on the bedside lamp, but there was nothing there. I shivered, and my eyes went to the window. It was open, and the curtains were blowing in the breeze. Then I saw something blur across the window. It was so fast that I couldn't make out if it were a person or just the shadow from a tree outside."Jarren," I whispered, shaking him."What's wrong?" he asked, eyes still closed."There's something outside the house.""Yeah, trees," he said, trying to pull me back down.I rolled my eyes because I knew he wasn't really hearing me. "No, Jarren, I saw something move.""There is nothing out-" He cut off mid-sentence and sat up, barring his fangs. He looked around the room and then at the window. He got out of bed and walked over to it. I heard a low growl esca

  • Bitten   43: I Want to Try

Jarren’s POV I was pissed. Why was she so insistent on putting herself in danger? I couldn’t even believe she’d think of something like that. There was no way in hell that I was going to bite her. I’d done that once, and I hated myself. Why the hell would she think that I’d do it again? I bent over the counter—elbows on top of it, with my face in my hands. I took deep breaths calming myself. Here I was, being mad at her for thinking something so stupid, and I should have been angry at myself as well. I’d walked away from her again. Once I calmed down, which took a few minutes, I opened the bathroom door. She was lying in bed with her back to me. I walked over and slid into bed slowly. I put my hand o

Jillie’s POV I took a deep breath. My hands were both shaking. I’d been avoiding this for two weeks now. It was too painful. I knelt in front of the headstone. Running my fingers over the engraved words, tears slowly ran down my cheeks. “Hey, Mal,” I stated through my tears. “I’m sorry I didn’t come sooner. I just couldn’t live with the guilt of knowing this happened because of me.” I stated quietly. “But the guilt I felt for leaving your funeral early and trying to stay away outweighed that.” I took another deep breath. “This sucks, Mal. This really is unfair. We were supposed to make up, and everything was supposed to get better between us. It wasn’t supposed to happen like this. Me sitting here crying my eyes out and talking to your headstone.” I paused for a minute. “We were supposed to do so much together. Go to college, get married, and have kids. Oh, speaking of kids, Alyx is pregnant. I know she wasn’t your favorite person, but I also know how much you like kids.”

I then looked around the room for Jillie. “Where did Jillie go?” I asked, panicking.“She and Kaileeh headed that way. I think there’s a door over there.” Garret stated.“Who screamed earlier?” I asked. I’d been so occupied that I hadn’t stopped to see who it was. I just knew it wasn’t Jillie. My eyes scanned the room until they landed on Mallory on the floor in a pool of blood. I then saw Mina on the floor as well. I shook my head. She was the only vampire I knew that could be easily

Jarren’s POV I watched as she tossed and turned. There was absolutely nothing I could do for her. Reid had already given her a sedative, but it wasn’t working. What was happening to her? I heard her say my name a few times, but that was it. At first, I couldn’t make out the rest of what she was saying.“Jarren, stop it!” She screamed. I looked at everyone in the room, confused.“Stop what, Piccolo?” I asked, moving closer to the bed. I let out a hiss as pain ripped through my right side. What the hell was that? I lift my shirt slowly to see a wound. It looked like fire hit me. I could feel all eyes in th

Jarren's POVMaking my way through the trees, I ran nowhere in particular. Just trying to run my frustration out. I’d been moving for hours, running to the next city over and beyond before returning. I was still a bit agitated. I continued to run until I was outside Jillie’s house. It was after two in the morning. I knew she was sleeping, but I couldn’t stop myself from waking her. I pulled out my phone and hit her speed dial button. It rang five times before going to voicemail. I hung up and called again. This time she answered on the fourth ring.“Hello,” she answered groggily.“Come outside.”“Okay.” I could hear her moving around. “Give me a minute,” she stated before hanging up. I slipped my phone back into my pocket. I crossed my arms over my chest and leaned against the house. I couldn’t go inside for what I

Unknown POV It was all coming together now. Everything I’d worked so hard for the last hundred and fifty-plus years was coming true. It took me a while to get to this point, but the reward at the end would be well worth it. Rising from my seat, I made my way to the window. Looking out, I was met by the vast expanse of trees. Secluded and, at the same time, visible.“Brother.”“Have a seat. I have something I want you to do for me, sister.”“I’m listening.”“There’s a full moon Friday night. This is what I need you to do….”
