Chapter 4

James jumped up and pointed a finger at me, his face twisted with rage. "Have you lost your mind? You want a divorce? Don't you care about your reputation? Liliana, you're fifty this year. What kind of man do you think you can find after leaving me?"

James was once a top student, but now he was just a bloated, greasy man. There was nothing about him worth holding onto.

I didn't respond to his taunts. Instead, I advised, "Since you cheated, you'll leave with nothing."

Before he could retort, my son joined in to scold me. "Mom, you can't be so greedy."

I ignored him, knowing James would sign the papers.

People were often trapped by what they couldn't have when they were young. James was no exception.

Besides, the initial funds for his second business came from my family's funds, and we had a signed agreement.

James seemed to remember that as well. He fell silent for a moment. "The agreement stated I would get sixty percent of the shares. Why should I leave with nothing?"
