Consignment

Daphne's POV

The gate squeaked when the AMG drove in, that familiar ache fluttered in my stomach when I placed a foot down, my heart racing when I saw my father, a smile highlighted at the edge of his lips, one that widened into a tiny laugh as I approached him.

Hands were thrown over me as laughter echoed through the air, with me diving into his arms.

“ Father” I squeezed my eyes tight, savoring his embrace as I had always done.

It seemed like forever since I did this. His hands ran through my hair, caressing it gently before he pulled me away to take a proper glance at me.

“ You don't look bad. You don't feel jet lag, do you?”

I shook my head, giving him an answer as the trolley was pushed past, it contained my bags and buses. “So tell me…” he implored as we turned to walk.

“You met him, what was he like?”

My heart raced, and I stopped in track, pushing a smile up my face.

“Everything you said. Cunning and I can't really place my hand on it …” I tried to find the right word
