She smiled up at him and he chuckled,
‘They will not have it all their own way my love, you know what the plans are for this pretty blue planet it will be an interesting experiment watching how they all develop.’
The male creature had one more act he needed to perform, and as the She-Wolf's belly grew big with the approaching birth it made it difficult for her to hunt and she knew it was essential that both her and her Pups survived. Two days before she gave birth she did what she had to do and killed him as his meat would feed her and her Pups until the Spring thaw she had given birth to six Pups, three male and three female but only four of them mattered, they were the new Species and when the time was right they took the lives of their siblings and their mother as they needed the food to help them survive. The world settled around them with the great continents detaching themselves from each other to form the land masses of today and the Homo-Erectus evolved into the Homo-Sapien and spread out across them all. In the meantime, the four siblings evolved into the ones who would become the Homo-Sapien's greatest enemy the Lycanthrope, [From the Ancient Greek language meaning wolf-human] right alongside them.
Homo-Erectus did not settle in the snow wolf's vicinity, somehow instinctively it knew to stay as far away as possible from this inhospitable frozen place preferring warmer climates with a more abundant easy-to-catch food supply. Other creatures settled there instead, those animals that had evolved to survive under the harsh freezing conditions, all of them prey to the powerful, silent snow-white shadow killers who not only survived but thrived and multiplied. This was the land owned by the Snow Wolf Pack, every single Werewolf could trace its ancestry back to those four original siblings, Alexander, Artemis, Anastasia and Anouchka, who had been Blessed by the Moon Goddess herself. Those related to Alexander had brilliant blue eyes, Artemis gave his ancestors glittering emerald green, Anastasia gave hers silver and Anouchka’s had the purest blood of all Lycan’s and their eyes were molten gold. Of course, as the centuries passed the bloodlines became diluted with others and pure Lycans were rare, maybe one or two of each generation had their white fur and blue/green/silver eyes but the true Lycanthrope, with its long, thick snowy white fur and stunning golden eyes was the rarest of them all, they had not been seen for many generations. They were the Werewolf of every urban legend, myths and faery-tales told to the young pups at bedtime but no one had seen one and the Elderly Leaders of the Packs believed they had died out forever.
The Homo Sapiens evolved into what is now known as the human race and as their technology and understanding of the world around them increased they became curious about this strangely haunting land. Expeditions set off to explore the icy plains but they never stayed long those who were brave enough to venture into the snowy wilderness were so traumatised by their experiences that they either ended up deranged and locked away for their safety. Some of them even took their own lives so terrified of the ferocious ‘beasts’ that haunted their dreams they wanted to escape them forever and this was the only way they knew how to do it.
Vottovaara belonged to the powerful, elusive, Snow Wolf Pack, the deadliest of Werewolves they kept themselves to themselves operating outside the Council of Immortals created by the Werecreatures and the other Immortals. Humans coveted their magic and quickly developed ways to kill or hurt them and then they began to capture them to use for experiments to try to find ways to control them. Many more different Species lived, worked and traded alongside each other peacefully occasionally there were crossovers where different Species found they were Fated Mates. The Goddess allowed this even though it diluted the pure bloodline, Immortals found it difficult to breed so their numbers stayed small, unlike the humans who bred rapidly encompassing every continent. The desolate Vottovaara tundra was home to the Snow Wolves and the other Packs would have been surprised to find they had joint Alphas, a male and a female and it had always been that way ever since the Goddess first created their Ancestors and Blessed them with the land. When the Male Alpha found his Fated Mate they marked and mated each other as quickly as they could, the Alpha biting his female ensured she became Alpha making their Leadership doubly strong. They were very different from their European and American counterparts, all of them were huge snow-white wolves, and it was what marked them as members of their Pack. They were rightly proud of their long, thick snowy coats that blended in so naturally with their surroundings. They were virtually invisible to the naked eye as they moved silently through their snowbound domain which was why the humans who braved the inclement weather thought the area was haunted. How else could they explain waking up to find their colleagues murdered as they slept beside them? They never saw or heard anything and it was terrifying to know something had snatched that person never to be seen again. Those who returned could only rationalise it by saying the spirits who lived in that cold inhospitable land did not want the human population there.
They gave no other explanations instead they were so terrified that they fled quickly back to their towns with their wild stories of ghosts and spirits.
The Goddess watched over her Species with loving care, they were all stunningly beautiful, their bodies toned and in the case of the males muscular, they were taller than their human counterparts and much stronger.
Their unique abilities, apart from being able to shift into their animals, including healing at a rapid rate, broken bones knitted together in a couple of hours, deep cuts would stop bleeding and the skin close up within minutes, it was difficult to kill them but not impossible. They had mated with almost every other species so that almost every creature now had its shifter version, Wolves, big cats, bears, birds of prey etc. and they knew of each other.
Just as they knew of the other creatures that the humans had long forgotten, the powerful Dragons that remained behind their protective shield, the stunning winged unicorns descendants of the mighty Pegasus, the Elves, Faeries, Witches and Warlocks who lived by the ancient codes of magic. All had once shared their lives with the Homo-Sapien race and believed they lived peacefully and helped their neighbours when needed. It was the humans who developed their strong beliefs in a higher Deity rejecting the world of magic and myth and turning against them viewing them as their greatest enemy. They had simply stopped believing as they evolved and developed finding they no longer needed magic when science overtook the old ways and truth became greater than fiction. Humans could fly like birds, only higher and further, they had flown into Space, and they could swim like the fish only deeper and faster as they plundered the bounty of the seas. On land they bred at such a rapid rate they soo
She laughed heartily as he grabbed her and gave her a hug,‘I don’t tell you often enough how much I appreciate all you do for me.’He kissed the top of her head and let her go so he could pick up his sandwich and take a huge bite chewing contentedly,‘It’s nice to be useful.’She grinned and bustled off to his room to make sure the maids had finished his bed and put his clothes away properly and when she closed the door he mind-linked his Beta,‘Karl, bring the Warriors to my office in half an hour’He commanded,‘Yes Alpha, we’re on our way’Alexis stood looking out of his office window at the snow capped mountain finishing his sandwich he felt restless and had a deep foreboding something was coming and it wasn’t going to be good.Aurora sat in her room brushing her long, rich copper coloured hair, it was stunning, a myriad of colours from pale gold to rich crimson a legacy from her Mother she had been told many times growing up. Not that she would know, her Mother had died two week
‘There is nothing I can do for you my Princess, your future is set but your daughter has the blood of both sides running through her veins. On her eighteenth birthday she will inherit the powers of her Ancestors and the magic that runs in your blood that you have had to repress. She will stop the Hunters, including the man you love so much, and your people will be forever free.’Aurora was born at midnight on All Hallows Eve, the wind was howling and hailstones battered the castle as the wildest storm anyone had ever seen raged. She came into the world waving her tiny fists and shouting right back at the storm and as her Mother held her in her arms for the first time the storm broke. Holding her tightly the Princess took her to the window as a huge incredible moon appeared, it was blood red and all around it the clouds seemed to be on fire as the colour seeped into them.‘The Blood Moon, little daughter.’The Princess understood the Goddesses sign,‘It is for you Aurora and I am truly
Martha carried on,‘This is how they work, this ‘feeling’ is just the beginning. Slowly Pack members will become Paranoid and start reacting to each other. It weakens the Pack so that when the Hunters attack it makes their job so much easier. Without the strength of Pack unity, we become easy targets fighting solo instead of together.’She stopped and looked at Alexis her face reflecting her sadness,‘I’m so sorry.’He moved across the room and hugged her tightly,‘Don’t apologise Martha, none of this is youor fault now please can you tell us what else you know?’It wasn’t much more but it was enough, Alexis turned to Karl,‘Go and find Morgana and bring her here.’He asked his Beta who nodded and left immediately.Morgana was the most powerful witch in the whole of the Vottovaara Mountain Region he had found her many years ago, seriously injured and dropped into a ravine just inside their boundary and left to perish. He had been a young wolf, only just coming into his adulthood, out
A bolt of energy slammed through Aurora and she cried out closing her eyes as the room grew brilliant white and the fizzing in her body intensified spreading rapidly through her.The beautiful teenager began to shake and then she was lifted off the ground by a hidden force it spun her violently making her hair fly out around her until everything imploded and she dropped onto her bed like a lead weight her powers had finally been released,‘You are so like her, Aurora, and now you must confront him, show him that you are her daughter, not his. She walks beside you, my dear child. It is time to embrace her. You must take her hand and become the woman she knows you are meant to be.’The Witch touched the Princess's forehead and everything went black and when she opened her eyes again the Witch had gone, all that remained were a few rags on the floor. She turned and looked up at the sky gasping at the beauty of a huge blood-red moon just reaching its zenith in the night sky with the cloud
Joachim did not live long enough to see the Mother of Alexis find her Fated Mate and leave his Pack because she left silently in the early hours when her mate called for her. She knew that to ask his permission would have meant certain death for her, he did not want her in his Pack but he would never have agreed to free her. When her mate had her safely far away from them within his borders the Goddess had intervened sending Constantine and his Hunters to them and the whole Pack had been wiped out. Unfortunately, when Meredith’s Mother heard what had happened it broke her gentle heart, even though he had rejected her and thrown her and their daughter out of his Pack she had never stopped loving her Mate. It destroyed her completely when she discovered her beloved daughter's Mate was the Hunter Prince, the man who had murdered her whole Pack, he was the man who made it his life’s objective to destroy as many of their kind as he could, it was all too much for her. The day before their m
She did not want to be like him and had taught herself to anticipate and respond to his moves instead, practising for hours alone in her room. Now she faced him and put her knowledge into practice, he moved with speed and accuracy and she blocked him and retaliated every time. She toyed with him, wearing him down, he was not as fit as her and was soon panting heavily. No one interfered as she sent him to the floor time and time again, instead, the Warriors stood back watching closely The silver daggers slid across the room out of his reach as she knocked them out of his hands one by one and with a speed and strength that shocked him she broke his wrists. He grunted in pain as she spun him beneath her in a stranglehold squeezing his neck strangling him, he began to turn blue as he fought to breathe,Now his Warriors stepped in and picked up the daggers,‘Release the Leader Aurora’His Second came forward with his two grown-up sons behind him,‘Release him and go back to your room and n
He smiled reassuringly but that night when everyone was asleep he slipped out into the forest, shifting quickly he ran mile after mile until he reached the very outskirts of his boundaries. Leaping onto a large boulder he stood gazing across the land his eyes brilliant golden orbs. The wind lifted his snow-white coat as he remained still searching for something. When he found it he startled the green-eyed beauty as he looked through her eyes at her reflection in the mirror. She was not afraid of him as she stared challengingly back and a seed was planted in each of them. He stepped back and lifted his head howling into the wind, standing by her window she heard him and her heart quickened as she gazed into the night,‘MATE!’She whispered and heard his reply,‘MATE!The next morning Aurora woke with a start and a stiff body, she had fallen asleep on the throne, she looked around her and went in search of food. In the Dining Room, the Warriors all stood and bowed when she entered,‘Lea
